It’s a rainy-ish Sunday here, everyone’s being lazy and it’s nice. We do need to get out for exercise at some point, maybe an afternoon walk. I just bought an extra 20 masks because they are having a great sale at Old Navy and I saw all the uniform clothes on sale too and now I’m more jealous than ever about schools with uniforms. I really wish we could made that the norm here for public schools!

We had a nice small birthday gathering with some family and close friends yesterday for the 5 year old. I’m exhausted from the hosting and socializing and wish that children also felt the same lol. But at least the birthday boy is happily playing with his many new legos.
I wish it would rain here. It’s been weeks and weeks since we had a real storm. And nothing in sight in the long range forecast.

I hated wearing uniforms in parochial grammar school. And then during my work life decided that I would adore a decent looking/wearing uniform for work. Professional services firm, so basically I ended up with kind of a work uniform, but looking/paying for those work clothes was not among my favorite shopping trips.
I always feel capsule wardrobes are basically a hankering back to the uniform life in many ways. Having fewer decisions to make can be a plus for me, at least.
Beautiful weather here - a little cooler than normal August summer and humidity is down.

I’ve always been someone who feels drained after socializing and especially hosting, but after the last 17 months of nearly none at all, I find it somehow even more draining than I could have imagined. It’s weird because I’m so happy and fulfilled by it, but woah. Happy birthday to your kiddo!

I made cinnamon rolls and put candles in them to sing DS happy birthday. I'm now trying to drag myself up off the couch to get on the elliptical. The two cinnamon rolls I ate are telling me to be a couch potato instead 🤣

I’ve always been an introvert but like you said, the pandemic has made it all so much more magnified. It’s so fun and then I’m just so done. And thanks! 🤗

We have a very quiet rainy day planned. I’m sitting outside sipping a mimosa and watching the baby skinks play in my potted herbs.
We took the kids to a local farm league ball game last night with another family. They had a lot of fun but they were on sensory overload and fell asleep on the car ride home and then slept in this morning.

They messed up my kid's covid test yesterday and ran it as rapid not PCR. It was negative.
Is anyone familiar with staph? Maybe I should make a thread. Ugh I'm so stressed.

I have a colonoscopy and endoscopy scheduled for tomorrow so I'm on a clear liquid diet. I'm cranky and hungry.

I can't believe it's August. School starts here on the 19th.
Headline in the paper this morning that the principal of an elementary school in the City had a freak accident on a family camping trip and died, scanned the article and was shocked to read it was the former principal of our elementary school, who everyone pretty much hated and ran out after one year. And now I feel terrible for disliking him because how horrible and oh my god his poor family.

It's drizzly here. Picked up groceries and I think I should work out but I'd also like to lay around and read.
My husband woke up at 1130 and is now asleep on the couch. 🙄🙄🙄

Weather isn't great, but the house we rented has an amazing screened porch. DD1 is hanging out with MIL, and I have DD2 watching a movie I am listening to the waves crash on the sand. Perfection

I've had both procedures - I enjoy my little naps and recovery for me has been very easy. Nothing like an excuse for a light breakfast followed by a nap. Hope you have as easy a process.

I've got Olympics on NBC going in the background. How is it that every time I glance at the screen it's some version of volley ball? Which sadly is one of my least favorite sports to watch.

hawkward DS had a sore that looked like a cigarette burn on his thigh. Today it's like the size of a quarter. He also has one on his other leg and a blister that showed up on his elbow this morning that popped and is now a sore.

If you can get him into an urgent care, I would to rule out (or diagnose) MRSA. Since it’s on more than one limb they may want to give him an oral antibiotic. Once he starts it, wash his bedding and any laundry he touches frequently.

We are heading to the mall today. DD1 wanted to go ice skating and they have a rink there. We are also going to have lunch at Tender Greens which is my favorite. I even put on make up today!
My sister texted me and said my nephew told her “I think my cousin is nocturnal” so seems like DD2’s sleepover went well. 😂

pobre I’m sorry you are stressed. I would definitely have I’m seen for possible staph. Can your pediatrician do an emergency weekend visit? I know we have an after hours line available for situations like this.

Anxiety + allergies or a slight summer cold + no availability for rapid tests for days drove me (literally) to the drug store for the at home test kit. I thought my days of squinting for lines were over but apparently not. Anyway it’s most likely not the plague so that’s a good thing.
I am just hanging out on the couch today. The 10YO’s birthday is Tuesday and I have done nothing for it, including planning the party he wants to have. Cue significant mom guilt. Hopefully his present gets here in time otherwise it’s going to be a really bad birthday.

pobre, I am sorry today is so stressful. Can you call your pediatrician and see if they can pull some strings to get you seen somewhere today or in office first thing tomorrow morning?

Ugh they are all full. 😩 Make him wash them well with an antibacterial soap and cover the spots with neosporin and then loosely bandage them. Then get him into his pedi or urgent care when you can. If they hurt you can give him some ibuprofen too.
