I'm getting decision fatigue with respect to our bathroom reno. Can anyone help me with these tile choices?
1. Tub surround tile. Should it go up to the ceiling or leave a foot or so of space at the top?
2. Wall tile. We're tiling all the walls roughly halfway up with the same tile as the tub surround. There's a window on the back wall that's a bit higher than halfway up the wall. Should the tile come exactly to the bottom edge of the window trim? Or be a few inches below or above? I'm not sure what will look best.

For the record ours goes to the ceiling, wraps around the toilet at a lower level and then stops before the window. This allows us to install a toilet paper holder.

Edge tiles curve to give it a finished look.

I like the idea of taking the tile to the ceiling!
I think it’s fine foe the tile not to go all the way to the window, though.

I would go to the ceiling and even with the window.

1. To the ceiling, Imho
2. I would not use the window as a reference. Decide where the tile looks best and dead end it wherever that ends up on the window. There are lots of good references for the best scale for certain rooms on the Internet. Look up the proper height for a chair rail as a start and see what’s aesthetically pleasing to you.

Ok thanks for the input, sounds like to the ceiling in the shower is the way to go!

I did some googling and there are so many answers. Whenever I tried to picture it, the window was getting in the way somehow. But I think I'll put up a strip of painter's tape at various Heights and see how that looks.

I'm kicking myself for this, but I think the edge tile ship has sailed 😑. We're basing our bathroom off of a photo I found online and they didn't use edge tiles, they just cut the square tiles into strips and used that. So I was like, "we'll just do that, too" to simplify things. Our tile took 7 weeks to come in so I highly doubt I could get matching edges at this point, and now I'm regretting it.

Aunt is in the tile business. She basically said, “You will need these”. That is why we have edge tiles.
