We are under water conservation guidelines now because of our drought and also the air here is shitty because of wildfire smoke. Fun times.

Oh I was thinking it seemed a little weird in the sky as I am sitting on my deck this evening, richard. Makes more sense now. The lack of rain stresses me out.

We broke a record of 95plus days. Plus I haven’t seen the actual sun in about two weeks. They don’t expect our smoke to clear out until September at the earliest

Of course I can’t find it. The one time Twitter doesn’t just constantly repeat what I’ve already seen 🤦♀️

The lack of rain stresses me out. Me too. It's been like late August since early June. I didn't realize how bad it was until I was in IL last weekend and everything was so green in comparison.

Yeah I hate how long this summer has felt because of the heat. Having the worst 2 weeks weather but instead it’s all summer long is… rough. I am so excited for fall weather.

Smoke sucks. Ironically it seems all the west coast smoke is blowing east as we're still doing ok. Not looking forward to September when we're super deeply into fire season. We literally couldn't go outside for weeks last year. And by then we'll be at probably 5 months with zero rain. Neat.
For those of you new to it, keep your AC on if you have it and don't vacuum.

It kicks up dust and ash and makes the air churn. It's not so bad when the aqi is fair or moderate but beyond that you don't want to as it can exacerbate health issues. During the bad weeks last year they said it constantly on the news as it apparently can really effect respiratory tracts.

Yeah I hate how long this summer has felt because of the heat. Having the worst 2 weeks weather but instead it’s all summer long is… rough. I am so excited for fall weather. Between the heat and the lack of rain, I am worried about our farmers up here. I was out scouting fields today for work and some places the cracks in the ground are almost elbow deep. The little bits of rain we have gotten in Southern MN haven't touched these cracks because it just isn't enough. Now on top of the heat and drought, some fields down here are reporting bug and worm infestations that they haven't had to really worry about in years. What stalks of corn are growing well are getting eaten by the bugs.

I was surprised at the wildfire smoke on the north shore of Lake Superior. There’s a Canadian wildfire and I think the big Oregon one affecting the sky. I thought I’d be avoiding the smoke more by leaving the west.
It’s way warmer here too. I never have submerged myself in Lake Superior, but just swam 100 feet off the shore submerged to my neck with no problems.

So sorry for all of you dealing with smoke issues. It’s so difficult when the air is crude. Hope it clears out sooner than expected.

Yeah 115 wildfires in Ontario burning last time I saw an update today. 800+ burning across the country. Mexico just sent a bunch of firefighters to help, I’m assuming they’re going out west where it’s worst.

richard willow riverrider I think I’m missing another Minnesotan, sorry. Our city is also starting water restrictions. I’m going on a canoe trip to the BWCA Thursday for 5 days. I’m worried about the air quality, but there’s a good chance of rain many of those days, so I hope it helps. We were “up north” for the 4th and the lake we visit was very low, down a foot or more. It’s been this bad before, maybe 12ish years ago, but it’s been so great for so many years, that it seems worse. No real rain in the 10 day forecast and continued heat has me freaking out a bit.

Half the world is on fire and the other half is flooding. I don't know if any of you have seen the images coming out of Zhengzhou China but they're horrific. Streets turned into fast moving rivers, people trapped in a subway car neck deep in water. It's all too much. 💔

We got an AQI alert today to stay inside. I don't know that I've ever really seen us get one before where I live. We've been having torrential rain and storms too. I wish I could send it to the west coast, or anywhere else dealing with fires. I'm so sorry.

We had the AQI alerts and you could see the haze outside. DS2 actually thought there was a fire when we were driving because thought it was smoke. Where I work it’s now the wettest July on record. June wasn’t really wet and it’s rained and like torrential rained almost every day of July.

We are camping up near Duluth starting today until Sunday and then doing the school tour on Monday. I had suggested going to Gooseberry on Sunday afternoon and then heard it was dry. 😞
