duskymonkey yay for the PT!!!!!!!! DD2 wears a pull-up at night because Iām lazy and waiting for it to magically happen on its own I guess. She wakes up dry more mornings than not but I have zero desire to wake up and have her try at night, do laundry 1000x, or limit liquids at during the summer when weāre out playing late. I hope he continues to do well for you all and you can return the diapers if need be! Taitai Iāll let my DDs tell your boys about the never-ending freezing winters, the lack of beaches in the Midwestā¦. or even just things like the difficulty of finding fresh fruit š Iām so glad theyāre having fun though and the memories will make the return quarantine worth it August Blooms did I miss what the graduate program is for that you applied to? Canadaās vax numbers are so encouraging because our numbers, locally and nationally, are just depressing here. I am not looking forward to full in person school this fall with no kids vaccinated and no mask or social distancing mandates here.

The girls and I are at my parents this week. My brother and his fiancĆ©e, are here too and the girls love the extra attention. Everyone but the girls are fully vaxxed so we felt good about coming up here. Weāre not doing anything exciting besides swimming in the pool, eating all sorts of takeout, and going on lots of walks and bike rides. The girls are so spoiled and reality is going to be hard when we return next week!

curmudgeon oh but the rewards are on a pretty epic level. After he goes #2 which he has for a few months now EVERYONE gets a gummy bear, he will make the choice of which flavors each person gets, then he gets a couple slices of dried mango sometimes 3- he will negotiate depending on the size of his "banana" lol! while he watches 1 part of If you give a mouse a cookie sometimes he will negotiate for the whole episode based on his "prize" he gave me then sometime later in the day he gets to play a game on the iPad and if there's things he'd lost in the misbehavior box, he gets to pick which ones to get back or negotiate for 2 or 3 if the box is full. *head smack *

Taitai I was thinking of you and the kids yesterday when I loaded up my bag with cherries and blueberries. They must think it's like paradise here now lol! I agree with danvers that the lack of variety for fresh fruits in the winter is such a drag although my kids really look forward to the snow. Contrary to that, when I was home last, I recall telling my mom that it felt like paradise. There was such an abundance of fresh fruits and fruit trees just hanging off the side of roads and the huge variety all year long! You also have the best beaches in the world, hospitality is amazing. Nice to hear your kids are ezperiencing the best of both worlds.

danvers happy to hear you're having good normal quality time with family and these are the very best memories the girls and you will cherish and look back on. Is your H dealing with the remodeling then? I can't believe school is going to start in a month already and I really really want DS to go back to school. I am mentally broken after a full school year and 1/3 or K. I also dropped off lil fella's registration for pre-K a couple of weeks ago and told them sometime in October. I was hoping vax wold be available by then and he might at least get 1 dose of it by October but the news about the FDA requiring 4-6 months of data is making me depressed again especially when the virus is still spreading rapidly enough for mutations to occur. I just can't with people. Also state of TN OMG! like do they not know what Polio does? or small pox! The mindset of the privilege is just reprehensible.

Hubs and I have been watching one of the most punishing races in the world - TDF, this several weeks and super sad it's over this Sunday. I mean the riders need a rest right??!! but this year was such a good race. They boys also look forward every afternoon to watch the stages. Lil fella is so proud when he spots the green jersey and today exclaims - I see him, that's Mark Cavendish, he's in a green jersey and he has green socks too! It'll be so sweet if he gets to beat Eddie Merckx's record this Sunday at the Champs E. What an incredible comeback for him! So looking forward to the complete chaos at the final sprint. Also insanity with how fast they can still sprint up hill after all the climbs. I am dying just watching them climb like where the hell are they getting super human energy from after all the steep grades? Super nuts that the GC will also sweep the polka dot and white jersey like 3/5 of the competition. There's no way he'd lose the podium now unless something awful happens. Hopefully not.

How's everyone's summer so far? The AQI here hasn't been good the past couple of weeks and the mountains have been shrouded from all the smoke from the west. It's just so terrible for this early. August Blooms , I can't believe CN is also burning. Sigh. PT is going as well as it can be and I can't complain with just the tiniest drip every so often. danvers unlike his big bro, lil fella has been waking up dry. I remember with DS our pedi said that night time is basically up to them and not much to do about it. I also need to get more sheets before we ditch the night diaper but it's so glorious not having diapers especially when a good deal of our trash is diapers. So I guess I'll be initiating a return for one of the boxes since we had to open the other. It's also peak cherry season. We're stuffing ourselves silly and I broke down and bought a kitschy cherry pitter. I love to not have to pit them for the kids and it actually works quite well and totally safe for the kids to use. He's looks a bit scary after a bunch of pitting today lol!

duskymonkey Wohoo for the PT success! Wat to go lil fella! Life without diapers is the BEST EVER. Glad you are all enjoying the fresh cherries (so are we!!), but Iām sorry to hear about the poor AQI. We had some smoke waft over our way from Canada this past week, and I could immediately tell that the AQI degraded quickly. I said to my H - itās gotta be 150+ AQI right now, and sure enough, it was 160. Thankfully it didnāt last long, and we got back to blue skies within a day. If only it could be that way in Southeast Asia! danvers What a fun time with your family! It sounds like you and the girls are having a great summer, and I hope that the renovation is going well. Also, Iād be ticked off to have to be with a bunch of unvaccinated kids with no social distancing and no masks when the school year starts too. WTF. That would be unthinkable where we live. @curnudgeon Are you ready for the triathlon? How are your knees feeling?? Iāll be wishing you luck south of the borderā¦.or actually maybe across the Pacific by the time your race arrives. So cool about graduate school too - you are amazing! Itās nice to hear that things in Canada are doing well. Itās gotten even worse in Thailand, and weāre not really looking forward to going back, but that is our home and I canāt stay away from work for too long. I really hope they can get vaccines there soon š¤š¤

Yesterday my aunt passed away. She was one of my favorite aunts and have many many fond memories with her. I am so sad for my dad too, a few years ago my uncle passed and he had a hard time when that happened. My aunt is the oldest sibling in the family plus with the current state of emergency back home, all the family is unable to gather. She had a hard year too especially with Covid, My dad couldn't even see her for a year and they don't live very far away. I am even sadder for my cousins, both are in Australia and unable to travel back and haven't been able to since last year. My mom and dad are doing what they can from afar to help with funeral arrangements for my cousins. It just all sucks. Covid sucks. Sigh.

Taitai yes the no diaper life is pretty awesome. We've managed 10 - 30 minute trips in the car this past week with success too. I can probably ditch the nighttime too....errrr....we've been using the same ones 4 ngiiths in a row now. Sometimes he wakes up MOTN calls for one of us to go potty and even if he doesn't on some nights, he wakes up dry so yeah...probably should ditch it. Anyways glad to hear you have blue skies, we had 1 clear day yesterday and decided to take a bike ride to the pond so that was nice. Gosh...SEA is getting hit hard with Covid now. I am so relieved my folks are inoculated but still worried for them.

Today the AQI was back to bad so we just decided to chill at home. DS asked for french toast so I showed him how to crack eggs to make them and he was so excited to learn how to crack eggs lol! So I decided to make a Cherry Clafoutis with all the cherries we have and hubs and the kids pitted them. I also forgot to add Pita bread to the click list order yesterday for the Baba ganoush and was too lazy to drive to get them so I decided to just make some lol! I was super pumped that my Pita's all puffed. It was my first try too. Well folks, this week's Sunday bakes are below. BTW I found a Clafoutis using almonds and it is good! August Blooms CoachTsWife it's gluten free and so so very easy to take advantage of the bounty of cherries. LMK, happy to post the recipe. Check out that puff!!! So exciting lol!

I have fallen off the face of the internet trying to get my classroom ready. School starts in a week-ish and I am so not ready. We are back to ānormalā so no mask mandates, table groups of 4-5 students each, shared suppliesā¦. and an entire class of unvaccinated 9-10 year olds.
Our contractorās been backed up with some kind of deal on his last house. H is frustrated and Iām very āmehā because itās not like we were going to be helping in anyway and Id rather we all be out and at schoo/daycare anyway. I think H was hoping to āoverseeā things and Iām beginning to wonder if our contractor (who is also a friend) is wanting H back at school now š

duskymonkey Iām so sorry for your loss - itās so hard right now when we canāt have our families gather to mourn due to the pandemic. Really terrible that your cousins canāt get back to Malaysia from Australia either. I completely empathize with their situation, as in Australia, if you leave, itās a one way ticket out. No coming back. Hugs to you and your family. On the bright side, your baking looks amazing, as usual! Way to go on the pita bread! I showed my H your pictures, and he said - wow, is there anything she canāt bake? I donāt think so š danvers Bummer to hear about the contractor being delayed, but Iām of your mind - might be better for the work to get done while youāre not in the house! I know I wouldnāt want someone looking over my shoulder while I was working either! Speaking of - I had quite the debate with some insane family members of mine, regarding the stupid idea that schools put cameras in all classrooms. I mean, I canāt even get started on the many, many reasons why that is a dumb idea. Sigh. People - teachers are not trying to brainwash your kids. FFS.

Taitai are you guys back home? Quarantining in a hotel? Did you make it through all that togetherness š I canāt imagine cameras would ever actually be in the classroom due to student privacy. No kid needs their bad day broadcast to everyone at home. All a parent is really going to hear is me repeating directions over and over and overā¦
