The "it's not illegal to exploit tax loopholes" arguments that come from people who also illegally hide their income. Lolsob. The Venn diagram of these people and the “but HoW wIlL We pAY fOr iT” complainers about any government spending on “entitlements” has got to be just a circle.

There's no way Trump didn't know. No way. Or if he didn't, we'll get a Maggie Habermann story in three days about how he "erupted in anger " when he was told.

One thing sticking in my brain from the indictment: at some point, a Trump Org employee was told to edit a spreadsheet that had "per Alan Weisselberg " in the memo line next to a payment for some personal stuff of his. Who was that? Could they testify against him? Have they already (if they had, I think they'd be listed as an unnamed individual in the indictment though?) Is Cy Vance already talking to them? Will he?
This person could have been a whistle-blower!

Now I don't want to hope because I've been burned before, but... 👀 Huh. This is the opposite impression I got of the person who seemed to not be bothered with the actual details of ::checks notes:: running the actual country. I guess he’s more attentive when it comes to counting his own coin.

The fact that 45 has insisted on retaining such tight, personal control over the company for so long makes him look suspect AF bit nobody put me on the jury.

Now I don't want to hope because I've been burned before, but... 👀 The indictment says flat out that 45's signature is on stuff bit that doesn't necessarily prove conspiracy

Lot to unpack here. Not the least of which is…they are trotting out Eric, which we know means no one wants to touch this one.

I was reading about Enron today ( why yes, I am the coolest person I know, why do you ask?), and apparently it took 3 years from initial indictment to indictment of the top guy. They just churned up the ranks for a while.
It's important to note that they went for the top UNrelated guy. There are still layers and layers of family to pressure and to flip.
Also, so far we only have accusations of tax fraud and evasion; but we already know from this that there are two sets of books. I'm betting that payroll company is going to be watched very closely, because that is where step one (layering) of money laundering would happen.
