willow, yikes I’m sorry, but glad it seems to be just a broken finger. Hope you are feeling okay today.

I disappeared a bit from June after we went on vacation. I had grand plans to workout on vacation and that just didn’t happen.
BUT, the only days I missed closing my rings in June were my vacation days. And I’ve been perfect since I got back, so at least it didn’t derail me. Things I did great in June: my cycling program, and I finished the crush your core program and loved it! Things I did not do great: I only ran 3 or 4 times the entire month, which is a major fail as I wanted to do 2-3 times a week.
July goals:
- I have about 5-7 lbs I need to lose to get down where I want. I felt decent about how I looked heading into vacation, but yikes I did not love the photos of me. And I don’t want to feel decent, I want to feel great. My goal for July is 2-3 lbs - close my rings every day - 3 rides and 3 runs per week, minimum of 45 minutes each - 5k race at the end of the month - keep up my strength routine - 3 times per week - 2 arms, 1 full body, plus 5-6 days of core seems to work best since my cardio is enough for my legs right now - drink more water - no alcohol except for 1 day per week, 2 drinks maximum - focus on healthy eating and increasing protein intake rather than skipping meals

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. My finger is in a lot of pain today as the swelling got worse but the doctor warned me it would get worse before it gets better. Using a mouse and typing is a huge PITA. Thankfully it’s my right hand and I’m left handed. The body shop is backed up about a week and a half but my grandma still has my grandpas car (he passed in April). I am going to use that in the meantime since I don’t know the extent of the damage on my car. I could get a rental through my insurance but my grandpa had a super nice Lexus SUV so I would rather drive that lol. jrun2013 I have a 2021 Toyota Highlander. I am so happy I had a big vehicle in this instance. I have never been rear ended before and it was really scary.

willow, I’m glad you are (mostly) okay. That must have been very scary. bunnyfungo, it’s nice to see your face in here! I’m also focusing on exercise and not tracking calories right now. So far, it’s been good.

I’m a sporadic poster in this thread but keep meaning to be better. I don’t remember my June goals but my activity level was good and I felt like I got back on track with regular workouts. My weight watchers subscription expired at the end of June and I’m not renewing it so my goal for July is to maintain my generally healthy eating with a variety of foods. My other goal is to keep moving with a combo of the peloton, biking and hiking. My weight hasn’t shifted in over a month but I’m down a dress size and can see a visible change in my arms and thighs

willow I am glad you walked away with only a broken finger. sounds like your kids were not with you either! I got up and did just under 2.5 miles with selena on week 7 of the you can run program. i then took ds to the dentist for 3 cavities and a crown. he had to go semi sedation. H brought dd an hour later who had a tooth pulled and should have had cavities filled but sounds like they didn't do that. she was also semi sedation. today's going to be hell. my nerves are already shot from the dentist. we are home now and i plan on just making it a mental day and lazing around with the kiddos.

Rusty Red, how have the past couple days been? Did you get your blizzard?

Rusty Red , how have the past couple days been? Did you get your blizzard? Blizzards are a foregone conclusion every Thursday and Saturday. Shan't give them up. I'm ok. Today is my rest day, yesterday was leg day so I'm learning to walk again.

Happy Friday! I woke up very suddenly this morning - my roomba started yelling that it had a low battery, and then while I was downstairs trying to shut it up, my alarm went off. Woke up my parents who are visiting (and are early risers) but not the kids. Anyway, after that adrenaline rush faded, I did a 20 minute Depeche Mode yoga, followed by a 10 minute hip focused yoga.
I'm sure I will walk at some point today, and/or swim, depending on the weather. My parents are wanting to order pizza for dinner (they live in the country and can't get delivery there, so it's a novel thing while they're here!), which sounds delicious.

Our closest DQ is about an hour away (not counting traffic) so it's just not something we ever get, but I'm always jealous.

I didn't end up making it to the strength work yesterday; I'll try again today. Work took up more time than planned. So it became an active recovery day.
-20min slow flow with Kirra -10min lower body stretch with Robin
The toddler's check up also went very well, which feels worth sharing. He's disabled and thriving, but since we got his first diagnosis at the 4m, well checks have always surfaced a lot of trauma for me. And I realized yesterday that that didn't happen this time.

I’ve walked the dog once so far today (1 mi.) and did 15 mins on the rowing machine. I’ll do 1 or 2 more walks with the dog (H does first and last walks of the day).
I had a good breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, whole wheat English muffin and coffee. Now time for a snack, probably cherries and some almonds.
28 oz of water down so far.

I finished out W1 of the Beginner Strength program:
- 10 min warm up with Olivia - 30 min Bodyweight with Olivia - 10 min stretch with Matty
I was getting quite the sweat on, which shows this “beginner” program is not “easy.”
I took today off as I have Monday off for the observes holiday and plan to relax the rest of the day.

Sorry yes to clarify no one else was in the car with me, as I was driving home from the office. My H joked that I should tell my boss we should stop our part time going into the office because now we’re getting into accidents lol.

I got in 7 miles this morning— thank goodness for the rain yesterday that cooled things off a little! I’m aiming for a yoga or extra long stretch session later. It’s pizza Friday here, but I may get salad for myself, because pizza feels really heavy in this weather. (Though I’ll definitely have a garlic knot or two!)

Well I got rear ended on the highway tonight which made me then rear end a truck in front of me from the impact. My car was driveable but remains to be seen the extent of the damage when it gets to a body shop. I’m ok except I have a broken finger that I got a splint for at the ortho urgent care tonight. I’m so irritated for multiple reasons but I’m happy I was in my big SUV because it would have been way worse if I was in a sedan. But I’m worried about this is going to derail my goals and progress this month. The doctor said I should expect healing to take about a month. Ugh. But he said I can stop using the split when I feel comfortable without it so I hope it will be sooner than a month. Oh, I am so sorry. Glad you are pretty much okay, though.

willow, I've had a badly injured/not sure if broken finger before, and I know how much we don't realize how one finger can limit us! I'm glad you're mostly ok, just take it easy and don't rush anything with healing.

I had my first ever appointment with a nutritionist today. I get 6 visits a year covered on my insurance, and HR has really been promoting it during the walking challenge. It was great! I walked away with a few very concrete action steps:
- create menu of options to choose from each morning for a less sugary breakfast. - create a M-F lunch meal plan each Sunday. - prep any lunches on Sunday (e.g., chopping veg, cooking pasta or rice, etc).
I think the meal planning and prepping for lunches each Sunday is going be a real game changer for me. Because for the last 16 months that I’ve been WFH, I’ve basically just been winging it every day at lunchtime.

Sometimes it's just parts of a salad I need to put together, or leftovers, but having something ready to go that has some vegetables in it really makes it easy to eat a satisfying lunch! Since my kids are picky in the evening lunches are usually veggie heavy - my favorites are grain bowls (quinoa or farro, roasted veggies, beans, some sort of crunch, and a sauce like green goddess or hummus) or a big batch of soup/chili.

I managed a ride today for the first time in over a week which was nice.
30 min heated mood ride with Jess K 5 min cool down with Emma
I took the heated ride because I needed to get out my anger and frustration with the car and broken bone stuff and just other random things. It was exactly what I needed and felt amazing.

Water intake of 150-200oz per day. Um, is there a reason for this?
