So, to start off July right, I got out for a long run. Did 9 miles by doing my 3 mile neighborhood loop three times. Carried chews with me and kept water at the bottom of my driveway. Popped chews every 2.5 ish miles and swigged water every time I passed. I negative split each loop respectively, but overall my average pace for a long run was slower than normal. Too much bad food and bad sleep and lack of keeping up with training is catching up to me. But it's done and I feel decent. 60 minute endurance run with Becs 30 minute progression run with Selena 20 minute yoga for after bedtime tonight That Becs run was her retelling of her Olympic time trial race. I love when Becs tells stories of her runs. So good. Ok, I'm done. Woof. I did this one today, too. Her little "tick" moments made me a little emotional. It was really great.

Well I got rear ended on the highway tonight which made me then rear end a truck in front of me from the impact. My car was driveable but remains to be seen the extent of the damage when it gets to a body shop. I’m ok except I have a broken finger that I got a splint for at the ortho urgent care tonight.
I’m so irritated for multiple reasons but I’m happy I was in my big SUV because it would have been way worse if I was in a sedan. But I’m worried about this is going to derail my goals and progress this month. The doctor said I should expect healing to take about a month. Ugh. But he said I can stop using the split when I feel comfortable without it so I hope it will be sooner than a month.

::peeks in::
Hi. I don’t usually go here but I’m here now. In the last couple of months I’ve gotten sick of not being able to keep up with my kids. My sister has a BOD subscription so I’m using her login and have been pretty consistent for the last 6 weeks or so. I did 21 Day Fix first and realized I hate Autumn, but I enjoy strength training. I also love running but I’ve been out of running/racing for so long that I started from scratch with None 2 Run (like C25K). I’m adding in Liift4 because I truly enjoy lifting weights. If only my high school cross country coach could hear me now 🤣 I’m doubling up 2 days a week for now while I’m still doing run/walk intervals. I’m only doing the circuit and the first half of the 50/50 on Liift4 on run days so I’m never doing the HIIT portions on the same day as a run day. This way I also get two full rest days a week because Liift4 is 4 days/week and N2R is 3 days/week. I’ll reevaluate when I get to longer run portions. I also signed up for a virtual 5k because it’s a Schitt’s Creek Ew Running race and I wanted the tank top lol. I probably won’t be ready to run that until the end of August.
I’m not really concerned with food. For the first time ever. I’m not tracking, I’m not thinking about it, I’m just…not. I’m so sick of thinking about food. I’m busy. I have 4 kids with varying interests and activities and sometimes I need to eat McDonald’s in the car in the 30 minutes between sports. I’d rather focus on how active I am and how much energy I have. I’ve also realized in the last year or so that my body just really wants to be 175lbs. I’m 5’8”. That’s fine. Like why am I stressing about 15lbs. I’d rather be 175lbs and running for fun and not struggling to pick up my 3 year old.
Annnnyway. That was long. Sorry. I’m going to try to keep up with this thread. Working out has really helped my mental health recently so it’s something I want to keep up on for that reason alone. I’m hoping for a successful July for everyone here.

willow, I’m sorry about the car accident. I’m glad you weren’t hurt more seriously and I hope you heal quickly. I get how frustrating it is to be derailed from your planned training because of something like that.

I also keep forgetting it’s July.
June goals were to run my half and then get back to tracking and strength. I finished my race and have done well with strength but tracking was minimal. It’s not the end of the world, but I would like to track for July to hopefully shed some more fat and inches. I definitely see the muscles growing age becoming more pronounced but there is still a lot of flab in the way.
I also want to increase my runs again too. I’m really leaning toward signing up and training for the half in October so I need to try to regain some of my endurance for running.

We did another bike ride to the splash park today. Everything is harder when it’s 100F out. I’m not built for this weather.

Welcome bunnyfungo! I have the exact same stats as you and I’m also starting to come to terms with my body just wanting to be this size. Separating working out from food is the best thing I ever did for myself mentally. It makes all the difference.

willow that is so scary! I am glad you are (mostly) okay. I hope you feel good today and that your injury heals quickly. bunnyfungo, welcome! I love your attitude! I didn't get a workout in yesterday but we had such an amazing day. We met up friends with at the pool right after lunch and while we only meant to stay for 2 hours we stayed for like 5. I have done a good job of getting DD some friend time this summer but I have not done that for myself. I didn't realize how badly I needed adult time. I feel so refreshed today! Should be able to get a longer workout in today. Planning on a mix of the bike/barre/strength. Will report back.

Friday workout done. 1 hr body pump + 45 min cardio. Ready for the long weekend! I'm feeling a painful twinge in my left shoulder when I do clean and presses. Gah I hate getting old. willow so glad it wasn't worse. I was in not one but 2 similar accidents 2 summers ago (I was the third car both cases) and I think I have PTSD and now constantly check my rearview mirror when I slow in traffic. Hope you are on the mend asap!

willow, glad you weren't hurt worse. Yesterday I did a 10 minute arms and light weights with Jenn. Lots of shoulder work and then 3 of those 5 minute yoga classes. This morning I did a 15 minute lower body stretch with Hannah. It was "juicy, tangy and bright" ( her words, used over and over and over) and a 5 minute arms and shoulders stretch with Chase. 5k tomorrow morning then wee are having people over.

Morning.
20 minute 2010's ride with Jenn 5 minute post ride stretch with Emma Flash 15
The ride was a perfect, fun recovery ride. The flash 15 not so much. This is where I wish they have the workout breakdown in the description. So many lunges, holy fuck. Would have skipped that one today if I had known. I powered through but my quads are pissed because they're sore from yesterday. Oh well.
We leave to go camping for the weekend tody. I have running stuff in the trailer so I can hopefully get out for a few easy miles one day this weekend.

I’ve been hit with the family cold and am not feeling great. It was coming on yesterday, but today it’s hit full force. I already want a nap. I made myself workout despite the cold and feel better for it.
I’ve also decided that Bradley Rose is just not for me. I gave him several tries, but I just cringe the entire time I take his rides.
20min hip hop ride w/ Bradley 15min AFO ride w/ Emma 15min AFO ride w/ Dennis

willow so scary about the accident. I’m glad you’re mostly okay. What type of car do you have? I have a compact and am considering switching it up to an suv for my next car because I drive on the interstate to work everyday and I want to feel safer. I didn’t post my July goals yet. Just keep working out. I’m trying to alternate running and biking, but am replacing running with walking right now because I have a gross summer cold. Also, I need to focus on the strength training as well, but the cold is zapping my motivation. I’m not sure what I’ll do today, probably a bike ride.

willow - I'm glad you are ok! I understand your frustration about not meeting your goals. Welcome bunnyfungo! I foam rolled, stretched, and iced last night. I would say I'm back to 80% this morning. I'll take a running break this weekend and get back at it next week hopefully. 20 minute upper body strength with Ben this morning. DD was with me this morning and was a bit concerned when I started talking to the TV to tell Ben that I did not appreciate the AMRAP. I got it done though. Then a 5 minute core with Jess Sims.
