Speaking of being responsible for another living human’s medical choices…
E was up until midnight scream-crying about her ear hurting. They both had colds last week, and E has a history of post-cold ear infections. By history, I mean it has happened 2-3 times. She got Tylenol at 9, then Motrin and decongestant at 12. Slept through the night. This morning, she said it doesn’t hurt as much, but that she can hear it popping.
Do we take her to the ped? Go to cvs and get ear drops? Stick with Motrin and decongestant to dry it up? Throw spaghetti noodles at the wall? Spray a little winded on it?
WWYD?

I’d go to the doctor. But my family has a history of ear infections.
I’d also invest in an endoscope. We got one for $20 and it has been used a lot to check little ears for inflammation.
But I have a history of wax issues (small tubes and horrible build up). E is the same way. And I think F has it as well.

I’d keep up the decongestant for now and try to get into the pedi for a quick look.

I didn't check the board all day. How is she feeling tonight? HUGS. She has been an absolute terror all day long so she can’t feel too terribly. Her and P have been at each other’s throats all day. We weren’t able to get into her ped today so we are keeping up the OTC meds and hoping for the best. If she can sleep through the night, we will assume she is fine. If she’s up crying again, we have an appt for tomorrow.

Oh jeez. Next time y’all be more insistent that I just take her to the damn doctor. $350 later, she has a middle ear infection (normal) but it also spread to her ear canal. So now she’s on antibiotics and ear drops for 10 days. MOTY.
