oreobitsy I heard about that. How terrifying for his family. That picture hurts, too. His teammates look devastated. I’m so glad that they all formed a ring around him for privacy. In such a terrifying moment, the press didn’t need a wide angle shot of that poor man almost dying.

Bi-partisan group of Senators introduced a bill that would give school districts more flexibility to get summer meals to kids. Schools would have the option of delivering backpack meals or pre-loaded $30 EBT cards. The EBT cards would be such a great option. We've been getting food from the school all this year and I have to give at least 1/2 of it away because ds has allergies and a lot of it has no ingredients listed. We don't really need the food so it's no big deal but a lot of families depend on it. www.bennet.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=press-releases&id=9A104A35-54BC-4A4D-AFA3-AB08C35A82D9

I definitely agree the EBT cards would be more beneficial to families.

Our district did the P-EBT cards for all families in the district since school was closed. We got them last summer, but with pick up, I didn't want to deal with it. I actually forgot about getting the card until I saw a recent post on fb with someone asking about it. I checked the balance and there is over $700 so H used it this week.

Making the pandemic adjustments permanent so kids don’t have to travel to a central location to eat makes the system so much easier to utilize. Obviously the EBT option would be preferable for so many families to ensure kids are getting food that will be used. It’s nice to read about a bill that could make a real positive impact and actually has a chance of passing.

I deeply don't trust it and he doesn't have a good will bone in his body. I'll need to read what food security advocates have to say before I get excited about it.

But he was a no on Medicaid expansion even though much of his state relies on Medicaid. And he was a no on stimulus checks even though that polls higher than hungry kids.

I assume the Republican co sponsers are only doing it so they can use it as a talking point when they’re up for reelection.

Mitch just go re-elected, though, and Kentucky will keep reelecting him as long as he owns the libs, so while I'm sure he has an angle, I don't think it's reelection for him. Maybe it's giving cover to more vulnerable senators, though.
