Newp. This confirms I'm old and boring. Not a chance in hell. ETA: Even just the video is making me queasy.

dc2london Thanks! That’s motivating me. My life would be easier if we put pool towels on the school/jacket hooks. Usually they’re in a balled up mess. If this last weekend is any indication, I’m going to need some structure in their lives. There was so much fighting and bickering. The 3yo is in a “push button” phase with his brothers.

I will turn down any invitiation that requires a dress code like that.
I was significantly upset at the Halloween wedding we were invited to last year that said costumes were "required" to change into for the reception. And my H was in the wedding party and was told it couldn't be a crappy costume - that they needed to rent/make NICE ones, on top of renting a tuxedo and buying stupid shoes. I told him to put on sunglasses and go as Tony Stark because F that.
Luckily wedding was cancelled, but they're planning a reception for this year, again on Halloween.

I wish you could have seen what my face just did reading this, lol. I can get on with a themed outfit, but detailing exactly what I have to wear and then having to bring props is a bah humbug for me. I would do it because I'm a people pleaser, but I'd be bitching about that to anyone within hearing distance lol. Its not even themed! It’s just us looking like twins. I fully admit the host is in BEC territory for me lol, which isn’t helping. I’m buying the crap I don’t have, but am bitching here (sorry) and screenshooting her texts to bitch to other friends. Day 1: Short black dress, black sandals (she bought the bride white sandals and wants cute pics) Day 2: Pink shorts paired with the b-party matching t-shirts. Day 3: Black swimsuits and sashes. Nope

PSA, I have found the terrycloth robes from Costco preferable to towels for the kids. Towels wind up dragging on the ground and falling on the floor, plus DD is still in a 5 point harness and she can wear the robe in her car seat. The kids always scream about being too cold in the van without their towels but it's hard to wear a towel in a car seat. And the hoods allow them to stay hung up on hooks.

I broke in hives on Saturday for no apparent reason and I might scratch my skin off. So. Itchy. Still, days later.
Our last day of school is June 23rd but the last three days are half days because the people who make the school calendar are sadists.
I have to run a training on Thursday and I have 0% interest in prepping it right now.
Today is the Monday-est Tuesday.

willow Good for your nanny! Bet she was super comfortable lol. Bride is 33! Host is in her late 20s 🙄 the rest of us are all in our 30s and have kids. Host is bride’s SIL/MOH and doesn’t know the group as well, so I think some of it is anxiety and she’s trying to do the most. Bride told me she had to repeatedly tell SIL she has no interest in bars/clubs for the weekend (not her thing even pre-COVID). They have the weirdest relationship dynamic.

I'm trying to ignore it because I hate going to the doctor. I'm going to try benadryl after work. I Googled rash and neck pain (because I have that too) and diagnosed myself with meningitis. Lol me.

My kids are already out for summer. We went and picked up some sports stuff for baseball and soccer yesterday to give the girls some practice at home. DD1 goes to GS camp in 2 weeks and we had to start her covid screening yesterday.
Other than that, we have a local festival this weekend. Kids are really excited. We're making them mask up while there, but it's all outside so it'll be fun.
And my cousin has her bridal shower towards the end of the month.
July is going to be the busy one here.

Whoops double post. dc2london what’s the transition to summer entail? I am about to have my kids home and I need to not go nuts with mess. Everything in the coat closet moves to an upstairs closet and the coat closet gets filled with floats/noodles, a fold up wagon, pool towels, the sunscreen bin, etc. Pool towels come out of space bags. Backpacks go to bedrooms and coverups/goggles go on the backpack hooks. Double check expiration dates on sunscreens and replace as needed. Inflate pool floats. Write summer schedule on menu board. Deep clean backpacks and lunch boxes before putting in the kids' closets. Lunch containers are culled (recycle anything broken, missing lid, etc), stock a pool snacks cabinet for kids to grab and go. Can you come to my house and transition to summer for me please?

Random story here so I figured this is a good place for it. Over the weekend, my grandma was at our house along with my brother and parents for dinner. After dinner, we were chatting and I don't remember exactly what we were talking about, but we were telling my 4.5 yo that he would be able to choose a color for the 'thing' (seriously can't remember what it was lol). My grandma said "Well I guess you wouldn't want pink though", because, old lady, ha. My son didn't miss a beat and said "Boys can like pink and other girl colors too!"
Aside from the fact that he did still call them "girl colors", it was a moment of pride for me and my attempts at inclusive parenting, lol.

willow, that reminds me - we bought M a baby doll this weekend. We were facetiming with my H's sister and her H, and M was showing his cousin the doll, and my BIL was like, "why did he get a BABY???" like all weird. My BIL is pretty liberal, so we all kind of sat there awkwardly for a second, when M pipes up "BABY. BABY SHIRT!!" and starts shoving the baby at the phone. And then my SIL smacked my BIl on the arm and said "because boys can have dolls". Yes, the baby's name is Shirt. Because why not. Then he took him for a ride on his bike and H helpfully strapped him in using an old tie down, lol. PDQ: poof

It's just a positively gorgeous, low humidity day so DD and I went to 3 playgrounds. But now I'm getting to work on the coat closet.

Adorable, lemondrop! Also I love that his name is Shirt. Kids come up with the funniest names. My oldest still sleeps with his elephant lovey and since he was able to say words, he named it "Ooo". Because it was how he interpreted the sound that elephants make out of their trunks. So even now he is still called "Ooo" by all of us, haha.

"You sure you don't want to name baby after your buddy Landon?" M: "BABY SHIRT" Me: "Jackson?" M: "MOMMA, BABY SHIRT" You got it, buddy. Baby Shirt it is! lol

DD1 has a Wellie Wisher that she calls Princess Baby instead of the actual doll's name. We roll with it. Kids are fun like that.

My kids are out of school and have started on the diving team. Thank goodness this is starting up. It's too hot for them to do much else.
Next week I'm interviewing for a top spot.

I feel like I'd be setting myself up for failure if I try to do both (especially since weaning will interfere with sleeping - she nurses at bedtime, overnight, wake up, and usually when I get home from work + if its my day off and I'm just lounging around she wants all milkies all the time).
