I’m honestly shocked they named her after the queen. That’s one hell of an olive branch. Yes, for sure. I told my H, who very much does not care about the royals, about the baby/name. He said “why would they name her after the queen? Isn’t she racist and mean to Meghan?” That was my initial reaction (along with her support of Andrew) even though I know Harry holds her in the highest regard. I was expecting Elizabeth as the middle name or one of the middle names if they used more than one but definitely not them choosing something so personal to her.

I love the name in general (ignoring the family connection even) but I seem to remember that even in the Oprah interview they gave the queen a big pass on the behaviors and I feel that continues. I wish we really knew why such forgiveness for the queen.

Lilibet is just so very specific to the Queen - and intimate I guess? If they would've just done Lili/Lily and alluded to "Lilibet" it would've even felt different to me. They can do whatever they want and I'm happy for them. I just was not expecting it!

Same, I assumed if the reports I saw were correct and they were going with Lily that they would use it as a tribute to the Queen without using her EXACT nickname

I am so happy for them and big brother Archie. I love the name, especially the nod to Diana, but am glad that wasn’t her first name or what she’ll be called as that would be too much pressure on her growing up.
I’m not side-eyeing the nod to QE II that much as it’s clear he and Meghan are very close to her, he went on the record to say she and PP were not the senior royals who made the racist comments, and I’m going to leave it to their respective judgments as to this very personal decision.
Lili Diana is just darling.
Plus the haters are probably losing their minds right about it and they can continue to kick rocks.

Does Archie’s name have any familial significance that we know of? His middle name is Harrison, is that for Harry? I’m surprised there aren’t any names from Meghan’s side for either child.

Sadly, we know the haters will manage to spin this to fit their twisted narrative. They’ll probably call it a desperate bid to get back in the Queens good graces or something equally eye rolly.

Daily Mail headline: Blooming lovely! Princess Beatrice looks glamorous in green as she cradles her burgeoning baby bump while enjoying a sunny day out with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in London So tell me how Meghan wasn’t treated unfairly? 100% my first thought. TOO MUCH BUMP CRADLING!!! SHUT IT DOWN!!!

Buckingham Palace released the following statement:
“The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Back to Bea for a minute…I noticed the bump cradling right away and thought about Meghan. But also, she looks really cute. I like that outfit.

I called Elizabeth Diana. I’m going to take the win since we all know she is called Lilibet by family.

WRT to the name Lilibet, that is definitely a personal nickname for QEII used by close friends and family. It seems like this is H&M naming her specifically after his Grandmother, not who she is as “The Queen”
We’ve seen the BRF try to reconcile the differences between family and duty. This is one of those times.
Not sure if I’m making sense as I type it.

I love Lilibet and Lily was one of my names for DS if he was a girl. So happy for the Sussex family! ❤️
I like Bea’s outfit today for once. I’d wear that.
The Swedes are very cute and happy.
What a nice day in Royals land!

Let me give the British media a hint. The difference in coverage over bump touching:

TOO MUCH BUMP CRADLING!!! SHUT IT DOWN!!! Lol NGL, “she’s a bump-toucher!” crosses my mind with the bea pics 😂 But the way they’re being reported on in the media is something else. They (media) couldn’t be more obvious if they tried at this point.

The missing comma in this is annoying my eyes. Which missing comma? The one that should be after Meghan. Harry, Meghan, and Archie. Otherwise it looks to me like Harry then Meghan and Archie.
