Awesome. I really think having one would be beneficial for me, so hopefully I can find one that will work there. I've been with my doctor for so long that I would feel more uncomfortable switching at this point. One of Tara's projects that really sold me on her was to research and compile hospital profiles related to birth. Sibley's profile is here: www.tarabetholson.com/hospitals/sibley/ I'd still encourage you to call/email her and see if she'd work with you there. If not, she could still give you some good insights into why and how to prepare to deliver there, maybe a recommendation for another doula. Perhaps your doctor can give you names of doulas she/he has worked with successfully? I asked - they only gave me two names, which I haven't had a chance to contact yet. The nurse who gave me the names did say one of the ACPs there has more experience with area doulas, and by coincidence she's the one I'm scheduled with after my sono next week, so I'll get to talk to her. I also have a physical therapist who might have some names as well. I will definitely get in touch with Tara though.

I slept terribly last night and still got up early so I could take my dog for a walk before it got too hot. But I woke up to a thunderstorm. So now I'm taking him to day camp so he can run off some energy.
I have a dr appointment this morning and it'll be my first cervical check 😬. I hope somethings happening down there! 9 days until my EDD and I'm starting to get impatient.

muscari it's hot and humid in NYC today also... I am headed to maternity shoot and these ladies have their work cut out for them!!! cakewench - are you doing any non hospital affiliated birthing classes? The nurse who ran our birthing class and cpr class was a WEALTH of knowledge on doulas, baby nurses, peds, etc. I happened to find mine on my own after tons of research. shadesofgold, I personally waited until 2nd tri to book my doula, but I also haven't opened my shower gifts because PgAL/PgIF brain... I was her last open spot for August and got lucky.... long way to say if you are comfortable with it, book her now, and then you don't have to worry 😁

Can someone share what is actually entailed in the GBS swab?

Can someone share what is actually entailed in the GBS swab? Super simple. The OB just takes a q tip and swabs inside your vagina and your anus (hate that word) and they'll send it out to be tested. If it's positive, you'll get antibiotics in your IV when you go into labor.

Thanks pepperpottsj and alwayscheese! Pepper, please AWish your maternity photos! I don't think I've ever had the pleasure to see a bump shot from you. 😉

My cervix is locked up tight. It's barely 1cm open and still very thick. 😫
Not what I wanted to hear. Lol off to google all the things that move labor along.

I just asked DH and he confirmed it. ARE YOU KIDDING MEEEEEEE. 🙅🏻🙅🏻🙅🏻🙅🏻 Tomorrow is going to suck. I already feel awkward that I have some hemorrhoids. Let's add in a butthole swab and call it a day. Ugh.

Non FTMs- how long was it after the baby started dropping until you delivered? Like 3 weeks, lol. DS dropped pretty early. I had a cervical check done at 40+1 and I was barely 1cm. 3 days later I went into labor.
I've already dropped with this one too. I don't plan on getting any cervical checks until at least 38 weeks though.

addymac, it's not bad. I don't believe there was actual penetration into the butthole 😆.

shadesofgold Congrats and welcome! alwayscheese I know this is late, but I've had an sch this entire pregnancy, which came with not only spotting, but a ton of bleeding. Like, so much bleeding I had to be hospitalized twice and put on strict bedrest from 8-24 weeks. I will be 27 weeks tomorrow with a perfectly healthy baby - so i hope this gives you some encouragement! Also, resting with feet up and drinking TONS of water really helps if you end up finding that you have an sch. muscari Yes to being more emotional. Watched Moana again with DS and lost it every time the grandma came on screen...def would not be doing that normally! grumpycat Yay for passing the milestone and reaching viability!! pepperpottsj I feel I dropped with DS around 37 weeks and then I had him at 38 weeks 4 days. So like a week and a half after he dropped I had him. @easilyunamused Sorry your cervix is still locked up like Ft. Knox. Fingers crossed for some progress soon! The last few weeks/days are so uncomfortable.

I totally missed this thread and have been MIA this week. I blame moving! We're almost all the way moved into our new permanent place, and all our stuff is pretty much unpacked/put away. Due to my modified bedrest restrictions, I haven't been a whole lot of help in the moving department, but the movers were awesome and DH has been a rock star all week.
Add me to the list of people who feel like their stomach is ripping in half. It's so painful...my belly button area is also super tender and I have started to see stretch marks on the left side of my bump too. Oh the joys.

addymac, it's not bad. I don't believe there was actual penetration into the butthole 😆. Lol. Dying at penetration. Ugh. I'm sure it won't be awful but just need to mentally prepare myself for being touched in my butthole. Yay.

addymac tour reaction is killing me 😂 @peperpotsj I just had my GSB swab 2 days ago. There was no entering anything. The run a q-tip top to bottom. Yes it was glamorous showing off the hemroids and whatever down there looks like. Because I can't see it anymore. But there is no entering anywhere. Don't stress it's 2 seconds Lol. This makes me feel better. I don't know what my deal is lol. Pregnancy is anything but glamorous and my H keeps telling me it's fine and my Dr sees this all the time... I've seen tons of births and women's crotches at work.... can't tell you if any of them had hemhorroids or anything... but... when it's your own body it's just different....

I have never been so tired in my life, holy hell I'm not that pleasant to be around either when I'm really tired either. So I'm nervous about how I'll be once the baby is here and I'm even more exhausted. 😳

So I'm nervous about how I'll be once the baby is here and I'm even more exhausted. 😳 That's one of my biggest worries. I can be the crankiest bitch ever. And I don't want DH to bear the brunt of *my* fussiness and then resent me and hate me and then we'll fight and get a divorce and 😭 I'm trying hard to remind myself to be nice when the time comes or on days I'm already a little cranky.
