So good news - DS made the competitive baseball team he tried out for. It’s our first foray into try outs and all that. H was so happy he almost cried. Lol. Truly though this is the first thing that he hasn’t given up on and is actually interested in and it’s just a cool little thing to see in the kiddo. I think the experience will be very good for him.
Bad news for me is that I’m at his regular baseball game and they are getting them ready for the next level and are now doing strikes and outs and the very first player who hit struck out and cried his little eyes out. The coaches had prepped them for it but they didn’t know how it was going to feel. It was so sad. I don’t know if I’m cut out for competitive sports.

I was engaging in a little crap insomnia viewing and one wannabe authoritarian did a stupid cameo in the stupid movie I was watching and ugh, I had avoided the sound of his stupid voice for so long but HGFYUHCXFHKHFFCVBMJN it makes me so angry. On a side note, I think I worked out why 45 always wears his ties so ridiculously

I'm on a reopening planning team at work and it is rage inducing. I feel this way while istening to the plans for H's job. On a 2 day rotation, but the craziest thing is right now you aren't assigned a desk. You check in daily and it tells you where to sit. It would be bad enough to know that you are sharing a desk with one other person but to have possibly 5 different people there each week?? He works for a major bank and the keep sending out reports that productivity has been up the past year and many people are now working instead of commuting (so working an extra hour until 6 instead of leaving at 5). And most meetings are on phone /zoom now because coworkers are in different states. Why not keep WFH for most people?

Statistics and life lesson all ti d up in one bow. Still a hard transition.

Happy to report that all the kids went on to get a hit and the game was actually really fun after 2 brutal innings while they figured it out. My own DS got a hit in his last at bat on the last pitch so that was very good because he would have been super grumpy. Lol.

However....I can see how the use of hoteling supports flexibility, including WFH hybrid options, from a fiscal point of view. We had maintenance people whose entire job after hours was sanitizing workspaces. I'm hearing a lot of people are really looking forward to hybrid options - people actually miss live interaction more than they thought. Not just school kids going through psychological stress from lack of human contact. And, I admit, it will be nice in many ways not to have to compete with babies/kids/pets in the background, or not so background, while conducting business. LOL

Leading the change, AF and Navy are keeping 50% telework indefinitely. I bet this will have implications for a lot of other orgs. I think it's great because pre-covid, we were allowed ONE telework day per pay period at my command. My group is moving spaces/downsizing in space this fall and the three people share 2 desks is still a front contender over a complete hotel model, but that's still an option. www.defenseone.com/policy/2021/05/big-cuts-planned-pentagon-staffing-levels/173781/ETA I also can't imagine being back in my office so much after being WFH for 99% time these last 14 months, so it's a relief that we'll have so much more flexibility, whenever post-covid life happens.

We're all in the library 100% of the time (except managers and admin ) This is about allowing tables/chairs/study rooms/etc. I went off in the Covid thread. LOL

LOL Thanks for the response. Our public library has been open on a modified basis for months - went to seven days a week in late March 2021, IIRC. I was just there, and they're working on opening up the meeting rooms etc 'soon'. Computer tech lab is open, but more spaced out than it was 'back when'. I just picked up lunch there while getting a book and one of the librarians was saying it's, again, both scary and exciting to be opening up. To be fair, we're all pretty good at wearing masks indoors around town. Our town just opened up the reservation portal for meetings rooms at the town center - we're hoping to have our first in person condo board meeting since February 2020 in late June, assuming Illinois keeps moving along with reopening. Apparently we're going to Bridge Phase by May 14 then on to full reopening by June 11, fingers crossed. It certainly is stressful! link

My mom wrote a nice letter to my DD's teacher. I took a picture before she gave it to the teacher this morning. Should I send a copy of the note to the principal and/or superintendent? Or is this being extra?

sweetpea I always cc the principal on complementary emails to my kids teachers so I would not think twice of sending it along with an FYI. Teachers and principals take so much abuse that I go out of my way to highlight the good when I can.

And the teacher and admin will both appreciate having this on hand at evaluation time (which can be annual, depending on how long the teacher has been there).

I'm losing my office. They're cleaning out and making plans to lease out most of the offices. I liked my space; I had two windows! But I don't plan on being in the building more than 1–2 times a month in the future, so I can deal.

Tomorrow is my ablation. I’m nervous and really hoping it works and I can just never deal with a menstrual cycle again.

Tomorrow is my ablation. I’m nervous and really hoping it works and I can just never deal with a menstrual cycle again. FYI, mine kept getting lighter and lighter the further I get away from the date of my ablation. (Months and months) I was a bit disappointed at first because I expected miraculous results immediately. It did take care of the nightmare periods right away.

This would be completely acceptable, especially if a hard stop doesn’t occur. 🙃 Much of my personal concern comes from having a septum removed. Dr is hoping that there is little to no scar tissue from that since I’ve had 4 full term vaginal births. So FX!
