However I did see that PA says 63% of adults have had at least one shot (40 something is fully vaxed) so... maybe?

It’s better than NJ bribing with beer. 🤣🤣 Although what I like is it is a clear goal. No room for interpretation. Cant fake numbers. As opposed to bribing with beer or people see no end in sight.

So I saw PA will be lifting mask mandate when 70% of adults are fully vaccinated. I wonder if that will give people the push they need. This is hilarious to me because the people who aren't wearing masks are also the people not getting vaccinated. I don't think this type of bribery will work but also it's a hilarious Catch 22. It's like that scene in West Wing where 68% of people think foreign aid is too high while 59% think it should be cut. Who are the 9% who don't understand the question?

I looked more at the #s and as a country, we're at 56.4% of 18+ people having had their first shot. Which is higher than I would've guessed if you had asked me. There are a few states already past 70% of 18+: MA, NH, VE And then states 65-70% of 18+: CT, HI, ME, NJ, NM, RI And a handful 60-65%: CA, MD, MN, NY, PA, VA, WA Then 10 more in 55-60%, a dozen more in 50-55% and the remaining dozen below 50%. Mississippi is the lowest at 40%. From the CDC tracker: covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#vaccinations

I’ll be shocked if our school mask mandates are still in place this upcoming school year. Also Texas, but a blue city. Yeah, I'm thinking the same. I can't wait to get DS vaxxed. More and more people every day aren't masking up around here.

Dr. Cox reading that brought my blood pressure up. What an awful situation she put you in. I'm so sorry.

Our kids' daycare closed for a few months last March, and we never sent the 2 year old back because my anxiety was sky-high about him being around a bunch of kids who (understandably) weren't masked. I noticed when I rode by on Friday that there were no staff cars in the parking lot. There still aren't any today, so I'm guessing they had to close because of an outbreak. I'm wondering if this is going to be more common with adults vaccinated and the variants widely circulating.
I feel like we dodged a bullet and got so lucky snagging a sitter who we trust to take COVID seriously. I'm not sure if she's planning to keep him next year, but I guess we'll shell out whatever (and recognize that privilege) for a bit if it means he will be vaccinated in the fall. I just don't think my anxiety will let me send him back to a group of kids before then.

Oh, and last week DD came home with her first class bday invite. She begged for us to let her go, but we wouldn't let her. A teacher at the school is related to the birthday boy, and she showed me a picture from the party....15 kids shoulder-to-shoulder and not a mask to be found. 8 of them from DD's class. If there's an outbreak in her room, and we have to quarantine, I'm going to be so pissed.

In my city 85% of people over 16 have received at least one dose of a vaccine. Which tracks because I haven’t talked to an adult in weeks that isn’t at least half vaxed in my city. I might never leave my immediate area. Lol.

My aunt said they just went backwards on restrictions and had to close some stuff that was previously opened. It sounds like they did it at the state level so her county is ok but that took me by surprise. Of course it was after I booked my flight there.

We as a family have had our first possible exposure and are in quarantine until 5/14, all 4 adults in our home are vaccinated though. Wheeeee Not that I disagree with you being safer rather than sorry but if you’re vaccinated CDC says you don’t need to quarantine.

It was my kiddos that were possibly exposed and are unfortunately not vaccinated. I already WFM and my H is a SAHD, so we’ll just hang out at home instead of going to parks

Ours also closed completely for one case, which doesn’t necessarily mean an outbreak occurred. I’m just saying don’t jump to an outbreak as being the cause. Out of the 3 cases at daycare, there were no linked positives. The 2 back to back were coincidental and not spread 🤷🏼♀️

The CDC info is depressing for my state. I mean I didn’t expect anything different but it sucks seeing it confirmed.

My county is at 51% one dose, 37% fully.
I really hope more earnest outreach starts to areas with limited access to health care, transportation, etc.

I really hope more earnest outreach starts to areas with limited access to health care, transportation, etc. These numbers are similar for my very blue/vaccine accepting city, for ages 16+. I know 70%+ had expressed interest, so I hope we can still get there. Supply had been pretty limited until very recently, but I'm not seeing a big jump now that shots are more available.

Similar here too and we're pretty blue. Our health commissioner is saying by July we might hit 70% if people continue to get vaxxed. My seventh graders just brought it up too, that hopefully by next week they'll be eligible for the vaccine. I'm not supposed to give be my opinion, buuuuut I did. Please, yes, children, go get vaccinated.

The CureVac study changed its protocol to let participants be unblinded and stay in the study. I got unblinded and found out I got the vaccine I had expected as much since I got a fever after both, but it's awesome to see it confirmed. Now I'm just hoping CureVac is approved quickly in Europe so I'm actually recognized as vaccinated, but this is already fantastic news to know I'm protected. DH has also had his first shot. I'm really hoping that the younger kids can already start getting theirs in August, and then I'll try to get the DDs appointments for their first shot when we're back in the States in late August. Who knows when they'll be able to get it here. We're not even opening up vaccinations to all adults until June, and even then it's only theoretical. We're still working on priority groups. Sigh.

It's just a locally owned place, and they did some renovations while closed. DS' old teacher has checked in several times this year, and she said they had a case or 2 before. They didn't close then. That's why I was worried it was an outbreak (or some degree of spread). That's really good to hear that there has been spread at your daycare!

I go for my first shot on Saturday. They announced SS is eligible for Pfizer today. Idk of his mum wants him getting it, but I’m pretty sure he’s open to it. I hope this doesn’t become a problem. DS (5) is eager to get his. I hope kids don’t feel as run down as some adults do after.
Is immunity still up in the air? I think six months out was still showing efficacy last time I checked, likely longer.

I was just informed by a text blast from our superintendent that students here basically have to go back full time in person in August. My feelings are mixed.

They’ll be offering a state wide virtual option here, but encouraging in person. The virtual option would not be local teachers, and would be the entire year. From elsewhere in the state.

I am just realllllllly hoping that mask mandates are continued. We had a K info session zoom today and they said there would be masks this fall, at least. Right now k has plexiglass around desks and they said they did not know if the social distancing would be kept in fall, or if they would go back to the traditional table arrangements. We have a 100% virtual option, but have to decide this month. FX for herd immunity in July here, as they hope.

And I was like... well, bro, we can't take off the masks until we reach herd immunity, so really your only option is to get vaccinated and encourage everyone you know to get vaccinated!" And of course, no response yet. lol.
