I'm going to say extra prayers and send a few more campaign text messages for continuation of Democratic government in Virginia. I want to keep the mask mandate forever and ever. Okay maybe not forever, but maybe until 2022.

I feel this. I obviously don’t want it rushed through but I was hoping kids 5-12 would be approved a little earlier. Masks won’t be required next school year so it feels like DD will definitely get Covid even though we can see the finish line. It’s frustrating. No mask requirement?! Welcome to Texas!! I just don't get it. Our school district has done an amazing job all year but they are letting the mask mandate expire on June 1st (and of course the state mandate ended months ago). They have already said they anticipate that school will resume like normal next year. They are already not wearing masks outside anymore.

Dr. Cox I am so sorry. That is absolutely appalling behavior. ldubhawksfan, I would request to WFH following his wedding, if he plans to go right back into the office. It's not fair of your employer to ask that you be around him after such a big event.

Dr. Cox: I'm so sorry that your sister's shower was such a mess. WTF to your mom and her friends. Is your mother paying for the wedding? Can your sister put her foot down and tell her that if her POS friends show up, they're being kicked the fuck out? ldubhawksfan: your coworker is an idiot. He should be quarantining for a MINIMUM a week when he gets back after exposing himself to a zillion people - not just for y'all, but for everyone around him.

I will be lucky if my kids are vaccinated by this time next year. At least whenever you come to the US, you and your H should have no trouble.

I’ll be shocked if our school mask mandates are still in place this upcoming school year. Also Texas, but a blue city.

I know this feeling (but with brother and father before father died). It's infuriating and frustrating. I hope that you can come up with a solution that doesn't hurt your heart <3

ldubhawksfan, I agree that it would make more sense for the quarantine to also happen after the wedding. How much official "quarantining" do we think that he will be doing at home during the 2 weeks?

I'm so sorry Dr. Cox. I saw your pic from the shower and was hoping it had gone well. I’ve been trying to be positive about it for my sister’s sake. She is going through a lot right now, and was feeling so guilty and responsible for my mom’s behavior. My mom is a master manipulator with my sister and I’m always trying to be the protective big sis with her. You're good people. I'm sorry you're such a hard position.

NY will hold it's mask mandate into the fall school year. I suspect we'll be back to five days in person across the board, but masks will stay until enough kids are vaccinated. My hope is for the spring of 2022 at this point.
I selfishly do wish that Pfizer had broken it's age group down as 10-15 instead of 12-15 since that covers all possible middle school ages. Then in theory all my student could be vaccinated by the time they come back in September instead of just half of them who will be eligible by age. I'll be curious to see if they potentially have some sort of easing of mask requirements for high school since all those kids will be more than covered by age availability.

geekygirly I totally get that frustration but even just 3 weeks ago, it was looking like 12-15 may not be til mid summer or early fall, so I think it is also possible that the September date gets moved up too. Everything has been going so much faster than initially anticipated, which is amazing.

vaccines.gov is now the federal govt tool to find a vax near you or Text your zip code to 438829 and youll get a text back with nearest place with immediate vaccine availability
(oh by the way, i'm watching POTUS)
They are directing pharmacies to have walkin hours

hes urging employers to give employees PTO to get vax, and working on a tax credit for them when they do.

I would be shocked if 70% of the US adult population gets one dose of the vaccine. I mean, my health system is stagnant at 75%. A place full of medical professionals. So to expect close to that in the entire population? I just don't know if that's remotely possible.

I am starting to get optimistic that my county will get to 70/80%, but the whole country. Nah.

So I saw PA will be lifting mask mandate when 70% of adults are fully vaccinated. I wonder if that will give people the push they need.

Anyone else have lingering exhaustion after their shot? I am week since my shot, and I am mostly recovered, but still feeling constitutionally delicate and exhausted. I had a really tough few days, so I guess it's not super surprising- but more like I was actually down with something. FIL has been worn out, which is atypical for him, and heading to bed at 6pm nightly since his. No other s/e. I’ve been worn out too, but I’m unsure if it is that or this baseball season. I’m more exhausted and unable to sleep or stay asleepthough.

This is hilarious to me because the people who aren't wearing masks are also the people not getting vaccinated. I don't think this type of bribery will work but also it's a hilarious Catch 22.
