@idubshawksfan That guy sucks and his COVID protocols are nonsensical. I’m assuming you guys don’t have any testing requirements in place? My office “strongly recommends” testing before returning to work after traveling out of the region or attending a “large gathering.” But to be honest, I personally would just keep my distance and mask around him, but that’s my own comfort level post-vaccination. Either way, I would ask to WFH myself before asking a a manger to change someone else’s work status. No my small company dropped the WFH quarantine requirement after travel about a month ago and has never had testing requirements. That is a fair point about not pushing something on my coworker, but maybe my boss would get the hint of all 3 of us request to WFH that week following his wedding. I agree when he decides to take it seriously is nonsense and I think that is what rubs me extra hard about getting grief for wanting to WFH on my day off to make up 2 hours leaving early after my second shot 2 weeks ago, with my boss saying it’s not efficient and said I need to use PTO, but really do you think this CW isn’t going to be doing ALL the finally wedding prep on work time these 2 weeks? It’s hypocritical to me on a few levels.

I’m so sorry Dr. Cox. That is complete BS and I’m so sorry your mom sprung that.

ldubhawksfan The optics of wanting the time before at home but not after being around tons of people is weird. Like you said, you all are probably not the major risk. I would request to WFH and see what happens. Even though you’re vaccinated, it’s still a risk. Maybe you can say you have “family gatherings” planned and want to stay home so you don’t expose them.

Dr. Cox I’m sorry the weekend went that direction, rather than a celebration. People can be so disappointing and selfish.

ldubhawksfan, does the office typically have odd policies? I'm still trying to wrap my head around the difference in your WFH and the coworker's two weeks of WFH.

Dr. Cox, weddings and funerals can bring out the worst in people, I've found. I'm sorry for you all, and especially for your sister. So sad to see her wedding shadowed by all the conflict.

Anyone else have lingering exhaustion after their shot? I am week since my shot, and I am mostly recovered, but still feeling constitutionally delicate and exhausted. I had a really tough few days, so I guess it's not super surprising- but more like I was actually down with something.

ldubhawksfan, What is the point of him quarantining 2 weeks before the wedding?

I’m always tired so it took me awhile to make the connection but the exhaustion was beyond my norm.

justkeepmoving That is amazing news! I will still have to wait for the under 2 crowd to be approved for the twins but they will be 1.5 by then, so not long either way. This is so good for schools this fall! Dr. Cox I'm sorry about your mom and the rude guests. I'd probably react the same way as you.

Dr. Cox, I remember you being nervous about talking to your sister and that going well. It's fucked up that your mom would shit all over that and I hope you and your sister can keep supporting each other. The selfishness of it is really hard to get past. I'm so sorry.

Also very relieved about my big kid going to in-person K if he's vaccinated Yes! Mine starts K this fall too and the district has already said they are planning on full in person 5 days a week for next school year. Hopefully this means that masks will not be a requirement for the whole year too. I mean, I'm pro-mask of course but it would be great for the kids if they don't have to use them all day anymore.

I admit I was hoping for sooner for the kid vaccine, so that kids could be fully vaccinated before school in the fall. If we assume it takes about a month after submission for approval, a potential mad rush for scheduling appointments, and it taking two doses three weeks apart (then 2 weeks after that for full immunity), I would guess it would probably be at least December before any significant number of kids can be vaccinated.
Especially with everything opening up now, I'm starting to feel like it is inevitable that my kid will get it at some point before the vaccine is available, and that is frustrating given we've tried to be so careful for so long. I know science takes time.

athn64, I kind of was, especially with NY opening. I mean, caveats all around and all that. Just saw the governor talking about a modified Chicago Car Show this July. I'm actually thinking about seeing Black Widow at the actual theater!

ldubhawksfan, What is the point of him quarantining 2 weeks before the wedding? I honestly think it’s to make sure there is no chance they have to cancel it. To be fair, I understand and respect the idea of it, but in full context of the company’s/manager’s push back on WFH, it seems a bit unfair.

I can't wait to breathe that sigh when she finally can.

I know science takes time. I feel this. I obviously don’t want it rushed through but I was hoping kids 5-12 would be approved a little earlier. Masks won’t be required next school year so it feels like DD will definitely get Covid even though we can see the finish line. It’s frustrating.
