Watched the finale! I really enjoyed it despite hating Nate with the fire of a thousand suns. I liked how the Sam storyline ended up, I’m glad he didn’t leave. Roy consulting the Diamond Dogs might have been my favorite scene, tied with any scene that the greyhound puppies were in. Spoilers, yo: When Roy said that the diamond dogs were "cool" and then Ted and Beard were middle school girling out lol I loved it. I absolutely fucking hate Nate, so major props to the actor. That scene where he was angrily wiping the tears while telling Ted off was so well acted. Nick Mohammed said that when he read in the script that Nate destroys the Believe sign, he screamed and fell on the floor lol This was also an amazing episode for Beard. His non verbal acting was ON POINT. Nate is lucky he's still in one piece. Beard mouthing “omg omg omg” is a gif I need badly in my life lol.

I found myself hating Nate less than I expected by the end. He’s just such a good actor… the self-destructive qualities felt so real, like his inability to enjoy the win when it was everything he had worked for and he was literally responsible for it! It’s a really tragic moment. Then twisting Ted giving him the credit he had explicitly asked for into something negative because in the end, he can’t handle the pressure of making a call. And then it works out, but he’s committed to being an ass and can’t pull up.
When he has his own team and can’t blame failure on others… does he grow? Or does he continue to be a tyrant who shits on easy targets for his own failures and insecurities?

Seeing the torn BELIEVE sign on Ted's desk made me gasp out loud. And as stated above ( richard?) Nate having no idea the photo was so special Ted had it at home next to the one of his son instead of in the office... NATE! OI! The writers deserve every award. The continuity, the dialogue, it's fantastic. And the performances are just :chef's kiss: all around. Nick Mohammed has done a bang up job of getting us to hate and still have sympathy towards Nate. Him spitting at his image in the mirror is so full of self-loathing, it has made me recoil and tear up at the same time. I read an excellent article on a Ted Lasso - found on a discussion group I joined on Facebook. I'm so deep into the show I need to talk about it with others all of the time #tedhead bleedingcool.com/tv/ted-lasso-season-2-finale-heel-turn-caps-off-masterful-season/

I think they way they built up Nate was amazing, without even really realizing it as a viewer. His hair grew progressively more gray through the season, presumably to imply stress, and then was white at the end. His moving from a tracksuit to an ill fitting suit to a real suit. Roy not finding him a threat was definitely one of the final straws.
I don't know what to feel about Roy/Keeley. I hate that they didn't show us them later on, but the fact he left the tickets in her office gives me hope.
Trent Crimms will be back with a bigger role next season, and I am certain he will take over Keeley's role. They set it up perfectly.

For those who can't wait for the Brené Brown interview with Brett Goldstein for her Unlocking Us podcast to drop, you can watch it unfold here, not posted by me, but shared in a discussion group, so I'm sharing with y'all. "Part 1 of Brett Goldstein interview at ACL Fest! Austin showed him some love! ... I had to break down the 49 min interview into 3 part series." www.instagram.com/tv/CU8eZasA90R/Also, someone compiled the list of books seen and referenced on the show: bookshop.org/lists/books-from-the-world-of-ted-lasso

Potential season 3 spoiler:
I've read that Dr. Sharon and Trent Crimm, Independent, will both have large roles in the next season. This makes me happy.

Ooh, I like the Trent Crimm prediction. I love his character, I’m all in for more Trent Crimm. My husbands theory is that Trent is kind of the narrator all along and will be either writing a book about Ted or we will find out that this has been Trent's story about Ted all along. They certainly use him to move the story along.

They certainly use him to move the story along. I think it's a good theory that Trent will write a book on Ted. He said, "I love our chats" when he was leaving. That left some door open. On Reddit, they were saying that the symbolism of Trent locking his keys in the car at the end was to show that he's not going anywhere.

I also thought it was a nice touch that in an earlier episode, they showed Nate's picture that he gave to Ted in Ted's apartment. Goes to show how Nate has made up this whole narrative about Ted not valuing him in his head. Just finished the last episode. I am awful and read all the spoilers here before bc I have no chill but I don’t remember seeing this. Was it just like in the background of a scene in teds apt?

I finished it last night. It’s become my treadmill show. I watch a few episodes while I walk at night and it’s so light and feel-good, I don’t hate my life and want to get off. Anyway, I didn’t think they were setting up a Roy and Keely breakup. I feel like this season, they have been setting up so much depth to both of them and their relationship. I think it’s made their relationship seem more trusting and mature. So I didn’t take her telling him to go as a weird thing. More like, over the season we have seen him learn to respect her space, so she was telling him to go enjoy something he’s never had the opportunity to do while she gets her business up and running.
I think the Nate angle sets up a great storyline for season 3.
The Beard episode was a weird fever dream. I still don’t know how I feel about it.
I was confused if we were saying goodbye to Trent or setting him up for a bigger role next season. But I’m glad they followed up with him losing his job for revealing a source because when he did it, I was like, “wait you can’t do that!”
Overall, I really enjoyed Season 2. Season 1, I didn’t get the love right away. It took a few episodes before I was all in. Season 2 did a great job of developing all of the characters.

I thought Beard was going to die or something in that episode with the weird foreshadowy beginning and the strobe light warning. I went into that like “wtf is happening here?”

Apparently the Beard episode was an homage to an obscure Scorsese film, After Hours, hence the episode title Beard After Hours. Which I guess is why it doesn't make much sense or at least it doesn't to those of us who haven't seen the Scorsese film. I realize they wanted to add episodes without changing the storyline but I think they could have chosen better. 🤷🏼♀️ eta: Ted Lasso Just Paid Homage To One Of Martin Scorsese's Most Underrated Movies

I thought Beard was going to die or something in that episode with the weird foreshadowy beginning and the strobe light warning. I went into that like “wtf is happening here?” Between Jamie’s dad and the huge husband of the pants lady, I legit thought Beard was going to get murdered. Hearing that Apple demanded 2 more episodes out of the show, after they’d already filmed season 2 makes a lot of sense now. Beard after hours and the Christmas ones don’t make an impact on the main plot, so I think the creators just decided to do something fun/whatever they wanted with those.

I liked the Beard episode. He doesn’t really have a plot line to develop his character and I thought this episode gave us a glimpse into him. I think it also showed why he keeps getting back with Jane and what he gets out of the relationship.

The cheese factor was turned up pretty high in this episode. I’m a little worried some of the characters (or the whole show) will turn into parodies. That said, I liked the way they handled the Nate/Ted interactions.

This is the last season right? Yep. I liked it. It was cheesy, but felt like seeing old friends again. I'm not looking forward to the inevitable Nate redemption arc, though. And Keeley and Roy better get back together.

Nate is the worst. I don't want to see any redemption or reconciliation for him.
I'm sad about Keeley and Roy and hope he listens to Phoebe.
Rebecca needs to stop letting Rupert live rent free in her head already.
