I'm wondering if I can get some input on tile and vanity selection for our upcoming bathroom reno. We're completely gutting it and starting from scratch. I've attached my inspiration pic to this post. Our bathroom has exactly the same layout (with the tub on the right hand side, which you can't see in the pic) but it isn't as deep, so our vanity won't be as long as the one pictured. We're limited to 48" and want double sinks. I ordered samples of the exact tiles in the inspiration pic but I also ordered a different shade of blue and a pale grey for comparison. I'm having trouble finding a similar vanity and I think we're going to go with a floating one so that stools for the kids can fit under it. Ok, here are the questions: Walnut vanity, or white, or navy? Since our bathroom is really small I want it to feel as spacious as possible. But if we do a white floor, maybe a white vanity won't look great? Is white tile on the floor a bad choice? What's the best colour of grout? I don't think we'll be doing wallpaper. But I think I want to carry the blue tile all around the room like it is in the photo. I can only post one photo at a time, but I'll post a few vanity options and a pic of the tile below.

Tile options. The white is what's in the picture above, but the pale grey is nice, too.

I can't find the walnut/teak option I saw yesterday. I'm going to keep looking for it.

Here's a "teak" vanity. I don't think it's the one I liked originally, but it gives an idea of the colour of wood I like.

I love those colors!! We have white tile on the floor in the girls bathroom. We used a very light silvery grey grout. It was advised to us to not use white grout because it'll never match and probably never look clean. The light grey has been awesome. They also have a white vanity. I wanted it to be bright and airy. We have a walnut tone vanity in our bathroom with black floor tile. I love the "richness" the wood tones bring into the room. So, I don't think you can go wrong with either white or wood. I think the navy brings in too many extra colors. I'd rather the vanity to blend in a bit to showcase the other fun tiles.

Ok my heart is singing with these colors: green wall tiles, white floor tiles with gray grout, navy vanity. 😍

Is this a guest area or for the kids?
I’d think about functionality if it’s for the kids. I like counter space. It drives me batty if I can’t put down a hair dryer of brush and it ends up in the sink.
So make sure you have ample counter space.
This goes for storage. I hide as much as I can after I’m done in the morning. I like drawers and shelving.
Definitely go with a different color grout, but make sure you know the color. If you tile the shower at all, ask about mold resistant grout. It is expensive and worth every penny.
And I like the white tile. You can ask about pattern options. A simple rectangle can be set many different ways.

Also talk with your plumber, they may need to move the drainage and water lines if you put a smaller vanity in the room and move the sinks closer.
Probably not tricky, but definitely something to ask.

A simple rectangle can be set many different ways. It's the main bathroom for all the kids AND us 😬 My husband is the one who is dead set on a double vanity. He thinks that with two, eventually 3, kids needing to brush teeth and wash hands at the same time all the time it makes sense to have more sinks. I'm torn because I think the counter space is valuable, too. There is a small closet in there for storage on top of the drawers of the vanity. But it's a small bathroom and not particularly functional. I'll have to give some serious thought to the vanity because I don't want to regret it. I do know I want room underneath for stools because I hate them being in the way all the time and they will be Part of our lives for a while. The actually width of the vanity will be exactly the same as what we have now but yes, if we do the double I'll mention it to our contractor in case it complicates the plumbing. The shower walls will be tiled and yes, I definitely want mold resistant grout!

I think light grey grout sounds like the way to go, any darker would probably look like too much contrast.

For some reason when we bought our current house, I had it in my mind that the kids' bathroom had a double sink and when I realized it didn't I was v sad and it still annoys me. Those 2 fight over the damn sink every day. It does have lots of countertop space but that gets filled with random crap and I would trade it for the double sink in a heartbeat. Also I prefer fewer, larger drawers in a vanity. Makes more sense for storage. But at least one cabinet door to put a trash can in.
Our vanities in our master bathroom have 8 drawers each (so 16 total in one bathroom) and most are empty because they are so shallow and tiny! Such a silly waste of space.

I’ll walk in and all 3 of them will be on 2 stools in front of the same sink brushing their teeth. These kids 🤦🏻♀️

Oh, with three kids, I dream of double sinks here daily. We have one full bath and one half bath and people are always needing to wash their hands.

I'm also leaning hard toward the floating navy vanity I posted. The top is quartz, which is nice.
