I'm just here to contribute that my VW (not an atlas but still) died a horrific death about three weeks ago after ten years of being downright baby-ed. It woke up one day and chose death and it would have cost so much to fix I'll never go back. I already spent an assload on regular maintenance. I bought a kia with all the trappings (though not an suv) and I love it. But what kind of gas did you put in it???

Regular. So I probably destroyed it. But my mechanic said it was in great shape when he saw it a year ago Hey I’ll take 10 years though! I should clarify i had it for 7 but it was treated like a queen before me too. I know that's a long time with a car but I feel like I just paid it off and it didn't just gradually break down, it like died dead without so much as a hiccup before.

I have a VW Atlas currently and have had zero issues. VWs are reliable, the Atlas was their first three row SUV, so the earlier versions have had minor issues, but doesn't every brand? I like the look of the new R-lines. But besides that, one SUV that has caught my eye is the Lincoln Aviator. Looks so classy.I have not read all the responses but ITA, the Aviator looks badass. I have a 2014 Acura MDX with 127K miles. I drive a lot. It has been a wonderful car, no maintenance issues at all. Does great in the snow. Very safe, I was rear ended twice with the cars directly behind me being totaled by the third car that started the accident. My car had minor damage; it was astonishing compared to the cars that were hit behind me.

I have a Subaru Forester that I love. If you wanted something larger, my friend drives the Ascent and also loves it. She test drove both the Atlas and the Ascent and said the Ascent had much better pick up when getting onto the highway. H has a VW atlas x approx 5ish years now? No major problems as of yet. He likes it but I wouldn't say he loves it. It's a gas guzzler and he likes how the Subaru handles better. I feel like I'm driving a boat when I drive the atlas. I don't like it at all. It looks nice though.

I love the look of the aviator and my MIL has the smaller Lincoln suv (MKC I think)-but she leases so can’t speak to longevity.

So I stopped in to look at new Audi Q5s and Acura RDX.
The rdx is crossed off the list, the dash is NMS.
I test drove a used 2020 Audi Q5 this afternoon and brought it home with H. We both felt like the seat depth was short, like where it hit on the back of our legs compared to other cars we have.
And the wind noise above my head from the panoramic moonroof was really distracting. But I loved how it drove. So pros and cons to that Q5.

Bumping just to give an update on the conclusion.
We’re getting an Audi Q5 on Saturday. I’m excited and H, being his normal self, is even keeled.

I was about to plug my Volvo XC 60 which I LOVE when I saw the update. The Q5 was the other car we seriously considered when we got the Volvo, and I really liked it, too - definitely has nicer interiors. Enjoy!

That's the one thing we didn't get because it was in the next trim level up. We test drove one with that space camera and it was insane. I really wanted it, but not for thousands more.

Bumping this to ask - brux, how do you like the new Q5? I just started looking for a new car and the Q5 is on my short list. I love the Audi e-tron but I don’t know when that will be available.

Bumping this to ask - brux , how do you like the new Q5? I just started looking for a new car and the Q5 is on my short list. I love the Audi e-tron but I don’t know when that will be available. It's H's car, so I've only driven it once, but we both really like it. It feels kinda bougie and has a lot of nice features. We bought it, so it's our for a while, so I hope we keep liking it. The back seat leg room is definitely less than the Atlas, but that was a much bigger car in the first place, so we knew we'd be downgrading in that department. DS is 8 and in a giant Britax high back booster and he says he has plenty of space. Happy to answer in more detail if you have any other qs too.

I have a sedan now so the leg room can only improve! I’m glad you are enjoying it.
