I saw a tiktok reviewing a new Kia Carnival minivan and that bitch has captains chairs that recline with a footrest plus two voice activated video screens and integrated sunshades in the back. I want to get that car and hire a driver to drive me everywhere.

My H has a Toyota 4Runner and I have a Honda CR-V. Love them both. I don't drive the 4Runner except in an emergency because it's taller and bigger than I'm really comfortable with, but I'm in love with being a passenger. The only downside to the CR-V is that I'm on my 4th windshield. Something about the shape/thickness of them makes them more vulnerable, according to the glass guy I took it to. I rented a 4runner a few years ago, thinking I wanted to buy one, but I didn't love it's rough truck-like ride.

We are a Subaru Ascent family and I absolutely love it. We have the 2019 which I think was the first year for it (bought at the end of 2018). We have had zero issues. We did get 2 calls about warranty stuff which annoyed me but they were all fixed for free. My mom has the Mercedes SUV (not 3 row )and I absolutely love driving it. If I wanted more upscale and the 3rd row wasn't important I would definitely get it. But for what we wanted....a car that would last a while with everyday use, 3rd row, captain chairs, and safety features, with a reasonable price point the Subaru Ascent has been fantastic. I could have written this word for word! We also bought in fall 2018, and got the 2019 model. There were 4 recalls in that time period between then and now, I believe, but as you said, all were fixed for free. We also bought a warranty that covers routine maintenance up until a certain time, and I know I have a couple services left, so that's been really nice.

Like emma I’m now a Kia devotee. I drive a Sportage and absolutely love it. This past year I did the stupid thing of test driving the Telluride and tried desperately to convince DH to upgrade. No dice. DH is buying a new car soon, his 2010 Volvo XC60 is showing its age. But it’s still running well and is paid off so we’re just saving for a deposit before getting something else. Right now his front runner is the Cadillac XT5. He wants the XC90 Hybrid, but the price is scaring him.

thatgolfb, my dream has always been a volvo. H thinks they're mom cars and I don't think will entertain it. But I'm plotting an XC40 purchase from their overseas program to get a free European vacation out of the deal. This made me lol because I have noted our xc90 is definitely the most sensible vehicle in the car line at preschool. I love it but it doesn’t win any status points, that’s for sure.

I have a Hyundai Tucson that has been super easy and reliable. I’m at around 85k miles and have not had a single issue.
We picked it at the time because of the solid warranty and the fact that it had nicer features for the price point than the others in its class. I would absolutely get one again.

We will be buying me one probably at the beginning of the year so I've been researching. Since I am looking to stay in the lower end payment wise (we plan as of now to buy) I am staying under 25,000 if possible so ignore if you want higher.
Chevy Equinox so far is my favorite Nissan Rogue Toyota Rav-4 Honda CR-V (H doesn't care as much for this one but they are all AWD) Jeep Cherokee (more than that price, but we know someone who can get us the family and friends discount)

I love my Rogue, but I don't think it's what you are looking for. I'm watching a youtube review that just said the Infiniti we're considering is a fancy Rogue!

It's an option for sure. I think we're leaning smaller SUV this time around. MH has had 6 or 7 Audi’s. He loves them. This will be H's next car he said. He has a buick now and loves them.

I owned Hyundais of various sizes for about 15 years before this Subaru, and I have always loved them, and been impressed with their customer service.

I am considering a Tesla or other electric car in 2023-4, but keeping my Rav-4 to be DS’ first car. I drive 400+ miles a week to and from my office so the $$$$$$$ of a Tesla offsets $$$$$$$$ on fuel.

I’ll switch to a version with captains chairs when we’re out of car seats though.

We bought used but I'm loving my chevy tahoe. My only wish was that the middle row was bucket seats instead of the bench but it's not the end of the world. I think next time I will be pickier about that but as of now I doubt this will be our last tahoe.

I have a VW Atlas currently and have had zero issues. VWs are reliable, the Atlas was their first three row SUV, so the earlier versions have had minor issues, but doesn't every brand? I like the look of the new R-lines.
But besides that, one SUV that has caught my eye is the Lincoln Aviator. Looks so classy.

brux my parents did that with a Volvo in 2000. I got to tag along- we went to Belgium though (that was the option besides Sweden and we had family in Belgium to see). Definitely the way to go if you can! I think Mercedes offers something similar.

I laughed when the sales person at the Volvo dealership showed us one of the trim packages for our vehicle that had a crystal knob on the end of the gear shifter and a beverage fridge. We got a lower trim package. 😂

brux, if your H is more into luxury, look at the Cadillac SUVs. I was really impressed with the smaller models, but needed something bigger and did not want the Escalade.

We're shopping for a new car for H. We want an SUV, I'm leaning towards buying (vs. leasing), and we're leaning towards new vs. used. Do you have any SUVs that you love? We leased and loved the VW Atlas but I need to learn more about long-term reliability to see if I'd want to own one. We drive a Toyota Highlander Hybrid and it is outstanding for gas mileage. Plus 3rd row seats.

As much as I love my Traverse, I’m disappointed at how well it’s held up. It has just over 70,000 miles on it and twice I’ve had to take it to the mechanic to get parts replaced that should have lasted much longer. The mechanic said that he had seen a lot of Traverses lately. And I’m good about car maintenance so it isn’t user error. As someone who as almost 60,000 on her Traverse, this displeases me.

MH has had 6 or 7 Audi’s. He loves them. H has loved his as well! I was really hoping the Q7 would work for us, but it just isn’t quite roomy enough. No, I don’t think any the SUVs are large enough. MH has a Q8 now, all decked out, it hovers somewhere between a car and SUV but it’s sexy.

have you ridden in or tested an NX? I said Lexus to H this weekend and he rolled his eyes (like I said, picky), but both he and I have had lexus sedans and really liked them so I don't know what his problem is. My SIL has the NX and loves it. It’s too small for me, but she’s happy. My mom is on her 3rd RX and will probably never drive anything else I’m currently on RX #4. I think I’m going to get something different next time just to change things up, but they’re great.

I love my RAV4 and am sad it’s a bit tight on space for us now that we have a baby and a bigger kid. I’m hoping to upgrade to a hybrid Highlander in the next 6 months or so. I need to survive this house hunt first.

We are big VW people. I have a 2019 Tiguan and I love it. It drives well, it's plenty of room for us without being too big, and has been a great car.

I recently bought a 2021 Buick Encore GX Sport and I absolutely love it! I did have a Buick Encore before this one, and the GX is definitely roomier. www.buick.com/suvs/encore-gx

I have a new Mazda CX9 that I will run into the ground, but I honestly preferred my Jeep Cherokee. I wish I wouldn't have traded it in. So my vote is not Mazda. What don't you like about it? I've never been in one, but from the outside they're cute! Mine is a 2014, but it has needed a lot of repairs. Both front power windows went out, the driver visor broke WTF? and numerous mechanical issues. I like the look and the get up and go it has, but H and I agree that we are not getting another Mazda. Money is tight but I like to dream, so I’m interested in the responses.
