willow sounds a lot like my reaction to my first shot (caveat: could have been placebo). The shaking was unreal- I couldn't brush my teeth I was shaking so hard.

I have had chills before but never anything like that. I thought for a moment I was having a seizure except I was conscious/fully cognizant of what was happening so I knew I wasn’t.

Apparently COVID is over here 🤷♀️. Grocery store was packed (I'm assuming because of Easter get togethers) and there are 2 large get togethers and 3rd smaller one on our not-that-big of a street. I spotted several more driving through the neighborhood. Hopefully some of them are vaccinated.
Really not looking forward to sending DD back to school next week. She had kids in her class travel over Thanksgiving, so I'm sure more did now. H will also have full classes of high schoolers for the first time...35ish kids. I'm hoping some change their mind and stay virtual. There's no telling where they've been and who they've mingled with. At least we'll be 2 weeks out from our 2nd shot.

My parents got their j&j shots on Friday and only had sore arms!
Also, MIL is almost a month post second shot and finally got to travel to TN to see her sister who she usually visits a couple times a year. She hadn't seen her in almost two years now. We were on the phone with her today and she was talking about how it felt so strange to go into a store without a mask. H and I both voice our discomfort. Like, great, yeah, you're fully vaxxed, but not everyone is. Keep your mask on!
Clearly I am going to have some separation anxiety about ditching my masks someday.

Well at just over the 24 hour mark, after a nap and a shower, I’m feeling almost back to 100%. So it was roughly 12 hours or so of awful. I’m glad it’s over! I didn’t have the uncontrollable shaking, but other so had the same experience to my second vaccine. I did feel like I was running just below 100% for a couple days afterwards.

The pharmacy called my ILs yesterday because they are on the wait list for the vaccine. My MIL is the type who needs to have her hair and makeup done to go out of the house so they DIDN'T go. She could tell that we were annoyed when she told us. Like they don't care! Just go. I feel like this would be my grandma.

doublestuf I think parents it is valid for people to be concerned about sending kids to school the week after spring break. So far on fb, I saw 17 friends that went to Florida, and about 4 others in the islands.

Since each of my parent's spouses aren't fully vaccinated yet, we are maintaining status quo for now (mostly outside, masked visits, no eating, my kids can't sleep over). But in a couple of weeks, my mom's H will be. Understandably, she is dying to have us over for a meal and to be able to keep the kids for an afternoon because it has been over a year. I am having a lot of anxiety. And know that we need to have a conversation about them continuing to wear their masks and not do all the things if they want to spend time with us like that. I'm sure it will rub them the wrong way, but oh well. I, too, cannot imagine parting with my mask any time soon.

So far on fb, I saw 17 friends that went to Florida, and about 4 others in the islands. OMG. Have some freaking self-control people! The pictures out of Florida infuriate me. The week after Thanksgiving I had her do virtual (her teacher has hybrid kids all year long so it didn't inconvenience anyone), and because H was still all virtual, she could go into the building with him. But now that there are kids in his building, it won't work this time. And of course one such kid that traveled over Thanksgiving did in fact turn out to be positive. Thankfully, masks are required and her room has a door to an interior courtyard. It was freezing, but her teacher kept the door propped open all the time (we're in a new building with windows that don't open!). No one else caught it that we know of.

I'm sure it wasn't a seizure but I have epilepsy and I'm usually alert and can provide short answers to people. Most people don't realize when I'm having one because I don't shake and it's mostly my vision. But I get what you meant. I'm hoping to avoid chills with dose 2. Sounds miserable!

I have an appt tomorrow for a Pfizer shot at a local clinic (YAY!). It says to bring my ID and insurance card- only i don't currently have an active insurance card bc MH just switched jobs and our new insurance doesn't start until May 1. Do I take my old card? Are they actually billing insurance for shots? Or do I just tell them I'm currently uninsured? I'm not sure what to do.

I brought it for my second and it wasn't a big deal. They need to input the info at one of your two appointments. I'd just let them know about your change over and bring it to your follow up.

My understanding is that if you have it the insurance is billed a fee to give the shot. But if you don’t have insurance you don’t pay, it’s covered by the government. You shouldn’t pay anything.

Don’t take your old one. Just say you don’t have any. They won’t charge you for it. I paid nothing for mine, my parents paid nothing , my nanny and her H paid nothing.

That is my understanding. Insurance providers will cover the cost of the vaccination administration. I've already seen the $18/shot from Walgreens show up in my insurance provider portal. If you do not have insurance, the CARES Act covers it (i.e., taxpayer paid). But in either event there is no cost to the patient. Me? I'd bring the old card but explain the situation. Let the provider decide how to process it.

I forgot my insurance card and the guy said since I entered vrythinf hen I registered it was no big deal.
My parents and I will be fully vaxxed at the same time. Up until this point when we’ve been visiting them we’ve all been wearing masks except eating/sleeping (DS1 has spent the night a couple of times). And we eat in completely separate rooms.
I know that’s the only place we will be unmasked and they will. My mom actually out a sign on her door at work reminding people they have to wear a mask and stay their distance in her office.

doublestuf completely unrelated to Covid but how can the windows not open. Wouldn’t that be considered a fire hazard?

Question-do you just know how o could see if there are child vac study groups in europe? I'd totally do this for my kids, but have no idea to find if there are even opportunities for it around here.

lemondrop Could you pm me info if you have any? We are in NJ. I’ve signed up as interested for a CHOP study (Moderna) and a Pfizer study (no locations near me but want to be contacted of one opens) so far, but haven’t heard anything yet on either.

I believe you can sign up for Covid vax studies through the National Clinical Studies Register. www.rnec.pt/
