Yeah, thats what defense objected to because its one thing to have pics or hear it but to actually feel it on your own body has to be something else.
But he is so methodical in explaining I can see being there and following what he was doing.

Well thats new
Defense made a deal out of his leg coming up as resisting.
Dr. Tobin says it was an involuntary movement due to a seizure of lack of oxygen to the brain.

It’s a hard watch. And while I understand the defense job is to bring ‘reasonable doubt’ in, it’s abhorrent to hear day after day them vilify mr Floyd. I want to scream at chauvin be a human and admit you did this and save this poor souls family from watching and listening to his death over and over. Nah, a good defense attorney's job isn't to create reasonable doubt- it's to zealously represent their client. Some attorneys interpret these two things to mean the same, but they really aren't. He still sucks as a person/defense attorney. And I come from a place of defense minded attorneys. Can I ask how you (or other attorneys) would present this case if you were the defense? I’m trying to think of alternate ways they could have approached this. This is merely a hypothetical legal discussion question. I’m really curious what other lawyers would have done.

Just so much bullshit. jkjacq thank for blogging this. It's emotional labor and I'm grateful for it, and you! WSS. I'm following here but can't come up with good conversation because I'm just floored.

I have been watching replays at night because I am so busy at work to give the trial any attention while I'm there.
Today at work one of the guys was told he is being called up (he is in the Guards) to patrol in MSP. He said he was told by a friend that is already up there that they were called up because things are going too well for the defense and "the left" is going to make trouble. I used every ounce of self control to keep myself from rolling my eyes.
What I have watched, I don't see that.

I think the prosecution is doing a good job with their evidence.

So yeah, their plan for what to do when they have no actual defense is going well.

Attorneys have stupidly high egos.

Dr Tobin’s testimony was devastating this morning. If the jury, who is in the courtroom and was making eye contact with him him felt the way I felt. It was really impactful He was very clear that but for the knee on the neck mr Floyd would be alive regardless of other health conditions or alleged drug use.

I thought the original comment from the co-worker was ridiculous so I answered with a ridiculous reply. Mine is more in the vein of “It’s funny ‘cuz it’s true,’ although I do believe the incompetence is totally unplanned. I have wondered, at certain points, if some of the defense attorney’s decisions could lead to an appeal though. I’m a recent poster on this board so I don’t quite know all the regulars. Am I right in thinking you are a lawyer? If so, what is your professional opinion on anything you’ve seen that could lead to an appeal?

Am I right in thinking you are a lawyer? If so, what is your professional opinion on anything you’ve seen that could lead to an appeal? Yes I am an attorney. I will caveat that I do not practice criminal law so I am not well read on all of the legal factors/burden of proof that play into a claim of ineffective assistance of counsel. But from my view, I really don’t see a strong claim for that on appeal. Is Mr Nelson operating under strategies that perhaps aren’t the best? Probably. But to rise to the level of an appeal, the behavior and method must be much more obviously bad than this. Difference in techniques and line of questioning isn’t really enough for a defendant to be granted a new trial on appeal. It doesn’t mean that Chauvin may not try that later on as a way to appeal and get a new trial but I don’t necessarily see the MN court of appeals buying it.

Dr Thomas is doing a very good job too. As someone who does well with info related to examples, she helping explain how medical examiners work through their entire process. The way they are breaking this down is going to be hard to cross.
As she was explaining the process of pulling in breath, I kept relating it back to Dr Tobin’s terms of bucket handle.

The defense atty wanted to make a lot of hay about Mr Floyd's enlarged heart indicating hypertension and the presence of fentanyl in his system but neither of those things WOULD HAVE KILLED HIM

I think we're headed toward a hung jury Oh god I hope not. The streets will burn unless this is a conviction. I definitely don't WANT that, anything other than a conviction is completely unacceptable, but it only takes one juror

No. Judge stated that at any point during the proceedings they could be, but at this point they are still in their homes. Judge feels that sequestering them would make them "agitated".

Judge feels that sequestering them would make them "agitated". Yes I think it is the right choice for sure, I just for some reason assumed it was already happening given the coverage of the case. Although at the same time, I might welcome a chance to chill in a hotel room by myself for a few weeks with just a bunch of Netflix or something to binge in my down time, after being at home with 3 kids for a year, lol. I know after a day or so though I'd start to stress about my H caring for all the kids by himself.
