I found it interesting that Laura Coates and the chief (cnn)brought up that the prosecution keeps using 'crime scene' and allowing witnesses to say that with no objection from the defense. Because as they said 'at the time they were unaware of a crime and it was classified as a 'critical incident'' which if defense objects to terminology and the judge overrules, it can be used in an appeal. But the defense isnt objecting so that will most likely not be a grounds in the appeal.

CNN talked all over the defense objection and then said that defense argued juror misconduct? Judge said nah.
Anyone know what that was about?

I'm currently watching on the Star Tribune site because Jim Scuitto was annoying me with his talking.

Defense atty states hes never had to get in a fight with anybody and I find that really hard to believe. I'm pretty positive someone somewhere in college or last weekend clocked the dude in the face.

I'm not sure I got "Chauvin's knee wasn't on Mr Floyd's neck but more on his shoulder blade" from that video.
But the prosecutor is doing a good job cleaning that up (the video offered into evidence by the defense was only a brief clip, AFTER EMT's had arrived, and that the defendant's knee was definitely on the neck, you know, the ten minutes before that.

This lady is a badass.
She's also known Chauvin for over 20 years. Unfortunately, due to the discussion this morning, I'm pretty sure she can only speak to training and not speak specifically on the incident.

Mr. Hall, the gentleman who was in the vehicle when George Floyd was arrested is refusing to testify because they will not offer him any immunity.
the judge doesnt seem to think its not going to matter. Because of the law putting him in the vehicle where drugs might have been found could implicate him in the murder charge.
I dont blame him.

my last post was really disjointed. Mr. Hall was in the vehicle, he has been offered no immunity, since drugs were 'involved' he could be implicated in a 3rd degree murder charge (guilt by association). The judge wants a narrow list of questions from both sides before placing him on the stand. Its not good for prosecution if Mr. Hall answers by pleading the 5th. Judge has given homework to both sides.
Again I do not blame Mr. Hall for not wanting to be placed on the stand.

Defense is still stuck on "LOOK HIS KNEE IS ON THE SHOULDERBLADE WHILE THE EMT IS CHECKING FOR A PULSE"
DUDE 45 seconds after NINE minutes does not in any shape or form negate what that man did for the previous 9 minutes.

FFS there was another officer controlling the crowd. There were FOUR OF YOU!
That crowd wasn't violent. And at no time did Chauvin look worried about the crowd.

Also there is no logical connection to why he needed to be on George's neck for that long because of the crowd, violent or not...

If they had felt so in danger, they would have called for more backup. Like, full stop.

They're trying to paint the crowd as dangerous and chaotic to explain away everything and it's driving me batty. The crowd wasn't what they're making it out to be, I don't think. I mean...can a crazy crowd make administering aid more difficult? Yes, of course. But is it somehow better to do nothing? No, I don't think so.

And while I understand the defense job is to bring ‘reasonable doubt’ in, it’s abhorrent to hear day after day them vilify mr Floyd. I want to scream at chauvin be a human and admit you did this and save this poor souls family from watching and listening to his death over and over.

Nah, a good defense attorney's job isn't to create reasonable doubt- it's to zealously represent their client. Some attorneys interpret these two things to mean the same, but they really aren't. He still sucks as a person/defense attorney. And I come from a place of defense minded attorneys.

jkjacq,It is a hard watch. True crime and trial watch are my thing and I find this hard to keep seeing on repeat. I guess it's rare that the whole death and/or crime is on video for the world to see. I feel terrible for his family and really anyone who had to witness this in person.

Dr. Martin Tobin is charming. Hes one of the experts the prosecution has called. He is so easy to understand. Jurors must have been following along with his descriptions and self guided explanations (is that what you would call it), because of that objection. Now I’m wondering how these explanations will be utilized in the future.
