There are more than 200k MORE people in DC proper than in all of WY but yet WY gets representation? It is madness.

I dont understand the digging in on a freaking airport?
arent there 3?
Also as if DC is the only area where people fly into a different state with the intent of going elsewhere. See Newark, to go to NYC. I mean, you have to cross a bridge from DCA to get into the District. H (pilot) notes that someone should reply that there’s heliports open to the public in DC.

The Metropolitan Airports Authority includes Reagan (just over the river in Arlington), Dulles (waaaaaaayyyyyy out in the burbs) and BWI which is pretty much in Baltimore.

The people with private jets use the municipal airports around the area too. Those are always very busy.

But members of congress or senate may drive past signs on their way to work. Such access is unprecedented. Not current comment, but I’m 90% sure it was in Mr Smith’s opening comments. I’m still rolling my eyes about it.

Anyone have a good primer on NFTs? I'm feeling very #old about it. Imagine that HIH had an official list of avatars that you could choose from when you signed up, but each avatar is one of a kind, they cost money, and no two posters can have the same avatar. Since they are one of a kind their cost is dependent on how rare they are. For example look at how many people have dog avatars on HIH. In this scenario there is only one dog avatar available and dc2london, has this avatar. You could offer her $$ for her avatar, but since everyone wants the dog avatar, you're going to have to offer up a large sum of money before she'll sell it to you. This is NFTs in a nutshell and it is the stupidest fucking thing on the planet. People are paying money for one of a kind digital content because they believe eventually we will be spending 100% of our time on the web a la the movie Surrogates. So you better get your cool outfits and avatars now before they're all gone. Dumbest. shit. ever.

But I guess I'm confused because how does the person own the avatar if you can't download it- like how do you pass the avatar between people?

Like other cryptocurrencies there is a unique token that identifies you as the owner of the original work. You could download or create a copy of an NFT, but like owning a famous painting there is a difference between owning the original and owning a copy. the unique token identifies it as an original. Think like a watermark on digital photos.

There's been a market for skins, gear, mods, etc in the gaming world for decades. It's just now there's a way to say this is the original one that was made and therefore it's more valuable than all the other copies.

Disclaimer: I first learned about them via an artist who was really upset that others are profiting off their work.

I did not realize that the definition of "State" included "must have the following: car dealership, prison, and an airport." .... Funny that these are the same people that decry the "intent of the founders" on other issues but yet if someone pointed out that the founders would never have anticipated car dealerships or airports as part of a statehood's identity.... Is it possible that some things like dealerships aren't in DC because it's more difficult since it's not currently a state?

I think the issue is that people are putting tokens on items that aren't theirs originally, but because they're the ones to put a token on, it's making them the "creator" so to speak. At least that's my (admittedly limited) understanding of the issues cropping up.

Is it possible that some things like dealerships aren't in DC because it's more difficult since it's not currently a state? Land is incredibly expensive in DC. Car dealerships take up a ton of space. That probably explains why there's a Tesla showroom (smallish footprint; About the size of a Gap store) in the District but not an actual dealership lot. Land in the surrounding inside the Beltway suburbs is expensive too, but not as expensive. And there may be business/tax incentives to cross the river into Virginia. Like many metro areas, most people don't think twice about crossing state lines for something like buying a car. It's just a few miles. I don't think statehood has any effect, that I can think of. The District still grants business licenses, issues license plates and registrations, etc.

I really want to punch Clay Higgins. "my goodness, gracious," MY ASS Also can we PLEASE STOP WITH THE FOUNDING FATHERS BULLSHIT! guess what things have changed in the last almost 300 years. We have cars now, and internet, and things the founding fathers could not have POSSIBLY imagined. Fewer horses and bayonettes, one might say
