A friend of mine ended up loving WandaVision, but was so confused. Another friend referred her to Age of Ultron (as did Disney+, now that I think about it), and that helped her a lot. I don't recall that they had the Legends available pre-WandaVision. I am curious how Marvel will work out the Phase 4 and beyond movies and the shows. I know Feige said they'll be integrated, but just ensuring that the movie only people are good to go might be a little bit of a challenge. Then again, I have very little idea about the Immortals (I don't comic book much) and I'm looking forward to that movie, and the others. And now I'm just hoping that Black Widow will be released soon, and that I'll have my shots and feel comfy heading back into the theater. I love watching the movies at home, but there certainly was a lot to be said watching Endgame at the actual show with an audience. So much cheering, etc - well, and lots of hankies at certain points. Black Widow is 5/9 I believe! I’m sure someone mentioned this. I may or may not have looked into every movie opening in 2021 now that theaters are opening up here again... FYI it’s July 9, now.

thatgolfb, Widow will now be in theaters and Disney+ Premiere Access (the $30 access) - both same day.

A lot of people won’t be comfortable in theaters in July. I think I want to convince H to go on a day date with me since I will be on maternity leave at that point and hopefully still with an inside baby...

thatgolfb, that's what I was thinking. Theaters by me were running $12-15 per ticket last March, so now I'm kind of happy I'd have a choice if I don't feel great about heading into theaters. Granted, this is the only movie so far I'd splurge on the premiere tier, but at least it's an option.

As for the show itself, I pushed through the opening action sequence that I found boring and enjoyed the rest of the episode. I will definitely watch it every week as episodes release.

I’m glad I’ll have a way to watch Black Widow in July, one way or another! Still crossing my fingers for the fancy theater with cocktails, but I’ll settle for the drive in or my living room if necessary.

H is not on my team for the not paying for premer access. Lol. We'll be watching it in July one way or another.

Black Widow is my motherfucking favorite (hello, she inspired my daughter's name). I've already warned my husband that I'm watching her movie in theaters, come hell or high water. He got to see his fave in theaters 3 times (Iron Man), just give me this one damnit!
I'm fully vaccinated. I'll go by myself if I have to, though I'd love to take N with me if I can.

For me, it definitely was the quiet moments I enjoyed the most. Just watching Sam iron his shirt, making personally sure that every small detail was perfect for him to honor his friend and transfer the shield to the Smithsonian, really touched me. OK, sure it didn't work out as he intended, but it would be a really short show if it did. How he'll deal with the government's betrayal of him, and of Steve - well, I'm here to watch that. Or Bucky's quiet "to do what" just broke my heart. Although also here to watch Bucky and his knife skills, tell the truth.

I love Carl Lumbly (way back when, Cagney & Lacey was a weekly staple in our house). That was a really powerful and heartbreaking scene. And, did I spy a future Young Avenger there?
I thought they did the background explication really well, including the GMA interview. And, yeah, John Walker always goes just one tiny bit too far....and then I'm back to wanting to slap him.
So many super soldiers! And I see why they saying that every character on this show truly sees themselves as a hero. Well, Bucky may be having issues with his self-image.
The episode just went by so quickly, and now I really am looking forward to next week, and Zemo.
And, alas poor Redwing - I was just getting really fond of you. But no one really dies in comics. Wasn't the saying it was no one dies except Jason Todd, Uncle Ben and Bucky Barnes? I guess one out of three isn't bad.

H was surprised about Isaiah showing up. I was not. I'm glad they are bringing him in and showing the dark underside of the super soldier program.
I wanted to punch WAlker the whole time, but at least the shield thing got Bucky to talk to Sam again. And we got to see the Big 3 conversation. It was even better in context.
That Fucking cop asking Bucky if Sam was bothering him. Bucky's reaction was great. And then they apologized when they had to arrest him, even though he broke the law. Sounds about white.
It was definitely over too soon. I want MORE!
Sam will definitely rebuild Redwing. He's very attached

Also, I still maintain that Bucky's therapist sucks. You don't coerce people into a "couple's session". But I enjoyed their little staring contest. And posturing over who had to move to "get closer".

Ok can I just say I LOVED the marching band intro?? Reminds me of good days.
“Punching your way out of a problem” was not lost on me. Don’t you try to make parallels with Steve, marvel.
Super awkward way for Bucky to waltz back into sams life, months with no contact and Sam doesn’t look surprised to see him? I know it’s a pretty overused trope, but it always takes me aback every time. I like that they’re together again tho.
Bucky being the cranky grandpa I always wanted him to be. They have great banter/chemistry.
That police stop scene was so realistic. It makes me so mad.
Oooooo John walker is going to get his ass kicked with that “he’s too valuable of a asset” shit.
I really thought Zeno was going to be behind that text to karli. Forgot he’d be I n high security 🤦🏻♀️
This one had a weird flow to it. I can’t really put my finger on it.

That was me! It was a weird coincidence because I had just looked him up the other day. I'm not sure I have it in my heart to hate the progeny of two seemingly lovely people, but if the blinds thread has taught me anything, it's that absolutely anyone can be ruined!

The couples therapy scene was IMO such lazy writing. They wanted the issues out in the open without having to develop the characters to get to that point. Maybe that’s a little harsh because I also thought their reactions were funny and the scene did accomplish its goal in an action series. Idk, after wandavision I guess I expected a little different.

I think Sam is pretty used to holding things close to his chest. I'm also assuming he's not totally surprised that Bucky showed up. He's probably been expecting it since he turned over the shield. I will hate John Walker to the end of my days. Especially with all his bullshit. About Bucky being an asset and trying to push Sam into being his sidekick to make his Captain America-ness seem more legit. I understand that he's probably not a bad guy, but he's a propaganda machine and I will not get over that. I felt a little mad at Isaiah for his needling of Bucky because if anyone understands what it's like to be tortured and experimented on, it's Bucky. But Isaiah also has every right to his feelings. He was used and abused too. The US government did him dirty and they didn't apologize or pardon him like they did for Bucky.

Gah I feel like I’m being a wet blanket. I don’t want to be so negative! But I did forget about “battle star” and then Bucky getting off the truck because he thought it was so stupid 😂 and all the jokes around redwing were great.

Bucky is just so done with fake Cap and his sidekick. I love Redwing. I hate that they used him to spy on Sam. I hope he rebulds him better and unhackable.

Bucky also needs to be a little more empathetic to where Sam is coming from. He's definitely centering himself in the whole Shield thing and sidelining Sam's very real and very important feelings.

I loved everything and I still enjoy the therapist. Fuck John Walker. Fuck the police. Should I know who Isaiah is if I don't read the comics? My memory is shot so I can't be sure. Not at all. Here's a little backstory: After Erskine's serum worked on Steve, the military continued to experiment to try and make more super soldiers. And, because racist, they experimented on Black soldiers. Isaiah is the only survivor. He became a super soldier and fought. Only for the government to imprison him for it later. He's eventually released, mostly because his wife begged the President. The grandson in the episode is Elijah, and he becomes one of the Young Avengers as another super soldier. We saw a couple other members of that team in WandaVision (the twins) and the MCU is gearing up to intro some of the other characters down the line. ETA and I didn't read the comics about it either. I read a fanfic featuring Eli a couple years ago and did some research.

My favorite line in the whole thing was Bucky telling Sam that he read The Hobbit when it came out in 1937. Love their interactions so much, they really have good chemistry.

I’m really enjoying this show! Karli the ginger Flag Smasher is a cool unexpected villain. I will watch Bucky and Sam razz each other all day long. And I’m fascinated by the dueling heroic/arrogant jackassery of John Walker. So many interesting and complex characters! I’m sad it’s such a short series.
