I'm stuck in 2021 gubernatorial race land, but there's a lot to look forward to 2022 about. Toomey's seat in PA, Burr's seat in NC. And Warnock is up for re-election in Georgia then too.

Fulcher is obviously up. I'm hoping the same person runs against him again (Rudy Soto) in 22. Also Crapo is up but I dont know who would oppose him here, since District 2 here is super red.

I'm just praying Michigan keeps the same '18 energy because Whitmer, Nessel, and Benson will all be up for re-election and we really need them to stay.

McMaster (SC) term is up and i hope he goes down in flames. In my daydreaming Harrison throws in on the D ticket and wins but I think his eyes are (rightly) set on DC. If there’s enough energy in the universe, I’d surely enjoy the Fulton County DA bringing charges against Lindsey G.

Portman’s seat in Ohio. Some real pieces of work are running for it - Josh Mandel is the worst. And I saw something about Geraldo Rivera possibly running?! Tim Ryan talk has intensified a bit after the video of him tearing into the GOP has gone somewhat viral.
ETA I’m intrigued by Dr. Amy Acton (she led OH’s health dept at the start of the pandemic) and also Nan Whaley, she’s great.

I'm with catspajamas in following what will likely be a weird race for Portman's seat in Ohio. I have little hope because of how red Ohio has flipped, but then again we also have Brown so maybe there's hope?

We have a huge election happening here this November (and a crowded June primary) so I'm mostly focusing on that right now. In 2022 I definitely want to help protect Kelly and Warnock, and apparently Hassan too. I think we have a chance at Toomey's seat and I can easily go do a long weekend in PA if they need feet on the ground.

Right now they're trying to pass a bill that student athletes participating women-identified sports must be confirmed as female, or some such bullshit. It's disgusting and I don't want to think about what more power for them would mean. Basically, we need alllll the helpers.

We have two major races happening in IA in 2022, governor and Grandpa Grassley's senate seat. I will be putting as much effort into both as I can, despite the fucking mess this state is. Two names have been floated for both, Rob Sand (current State Auditor) and Cindy Axne. Both have said they haven't ruled out anything and I would fight tooth and nail for both. I hate to lose Cindy's House seat because that would probably go R but hopefully the dems would find a good candidate to run in her place.
Grassley has filed the necessary paperwork to run again but hasn't said whether he actually will or not. This fucking guy is already 87 years old. Come on. I know he is trying to protect his seat as a "legacy" seat and wants his grandson to run. I think if his grandson doesn't/won't run Grassley will run again. I worry he won't lose.

Not my district, but I want to see what happens in NY-22 in 2022. This was the race that was very close and had to go to court, Tenney (R) won. I don’t know if Brindisi (D) will run again or if someone else will. It’s my old district and I was disappointed Brindisi lost.

Illinois has the junior senator seat up (presently Duckworth, who's running and hopefully will do well), and gubernatorial. I'm more concerned about this the governor race, but a lot can change between now and election day. Right now, taxes and COVID seem to be hot buttons. Pritzker was pretty strict on COVID guidelines. He got a lot of pushback, but nothing like some of the southern states. And the vaccine rollout is probably a victim of too much demand for too little supply.
I'm worried about the collar counties and suburban Cook going red; if you assume a total block vote from Chicago, it can carry a lot, but it's a challenge if you lose both the collar area and downstate.

Do we need a VA gubernatorial thread at some point? Yes! Yes please! My brain can't think about 2022 yet. Gah! Virginia is just never ending election cycles. Most of the time I like it, but after last year I feel like I need a break, lol.
