I was reading an interesting article from somewhere about how WFM is changing how we live in our spaces. Open floor plans don’t work as well with multiple family members all doing different things. It will be fun to see how trends change. ETA: not WFM, WFH I heard this crazy NPR story about the rise in visits to orthopedists bc everyone has extra stuff around their houses and keep stubbing their toes. Also we're spending more time barefoot so a toe stubbing has the potential to actually cause injury. All of the toys, everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a balance between fostering creative play and losing one's mind at the mess!

Mind you, I was one that broke my foot at the beginning of the pandemic from walking into a box (filled with a grill).

We went on spring break on Friday the 13th and never went back last year. My district was totally unprepared for elearning so it was paper packets that we picked up on Monday morning (that worked well for working parents). Teachers had to clean out student desks and bag it all up. thankfully they mostly got their shit together over the summer.

Looking at the pictures of CPAC, I see (as predicted) so many people without masks. This is will another super spreader event, right?

I now hate our open floor plan main level. My H and I were discussing yesterday that if we ever leave this house we refuse to have an open floorplan ever again.

In fact, one development that is almost built out this year, the arch made a revision from the previous project to pull some space from one bedroom and expand the top of stair foyer to make it a big enough loft space for a desk for WFH.

March 13th was the date on my classroom calendar until we came back to school this year. It's very surreal approaching that date now. I so strongly remember how shell-shocked everyone looked at my school that day, parents and staff.

My house hasn't been tidy for a year because I literally can't clean it as fast as they can make messes I spent all day, and I mean ALL DAY, Sat scrubbing my house top to bottom and didn't even get to the bedrooms. It's so disheartening.

It is cracking me up that all cases of actual voter fraud have been for the orange man.

Also, in a week, it will have been a year since I went to church in person. I've never in my life gone that long between stepping foot in a church building. Me too! Meanwhile, there is a mega church down the road from me that has not only been open at full capacity since April, but last week were found to be telling their congregation to “take off their masks in the sanctuary, because they need to only fear God, not the virus.” 😡😡😡😡😡

I think a lot of what is dragging me lately is the mess. I can’t keep up, I can’t carve out a space for just me to relax, and the dishes/laundry are never-ending.

Before covid, the toddler's nap time was my me time and now instead I spend it doing homework or chores around the house. I hate it but I feel likenI can never keep up. And it's very hard for me to relax when our house is a mess. Which it always is. 😬

I dont think deBlasio is gonna be on the governors xmas card list. He's blasting Cuomo on Tapper right now.
I mean deservedly so, but somehow I dont think Bills hands are completely clean either.(Just a gut feel I have no evidence)

I've never been so happy to live in a 110 year-old house. So many doors and very thick plaster walls.

I think a lot of what is dragging me lately is the mess. I can’t keep up, I can’t carve out a space for just me to relax, and the dishes/laundry are never-ending. pick one room in your house, even if it's your bathroom or heck the walk in closet, and vow to keep that place clean and neat, put a chair in there and put a book and a place to put a bottled water or drink. So you can go hide in there when you are overwhelmed. it does help.

It’s infuriating.

Also we're spending more time barefoot so a toe stubbing has the potential to actually cause injury. Omg. Last summer my H had just gotten back from a Costco run and stacked several pallets of water/sparkling water in the hallway tempor. Guess who came around the corner and dislocated her pinky toe? 🥴 Same foot that I broke a couple years ago and somehow the recent injury reactivated the midfoot pain from the break? I don't know if that's actually a thing or not but in any case my foot hasn't felt right since. 😔 I have a toe that's been broken for 20 years so I believe it! Thanks, ballet!

And my house doesn't need to be spotless or company ready by any means, but I struggle to leave the house or go to bed if the kitchen counters are all cluttered and there are toys and clutter all over the place. I feel like I'm constantly just picking shit up. And I'm the only one in house bothered by it, so I'm pretty much the only one doing it 🙄

March 13th is my birthday. DH took me out to this restaurant I had been wanting to visit for years. We drove to VT for the weekend but all the resorts closed after Saturday so we hung out with DH's cousin's family. I remember emailing a coworker about her college aged daughter after we found out both school and daycare were closing temporarily. Smartest thing I did that weekend for sure.
I just remember how surreal it all seemed and how clueless we were about what we were in for.
