The traditional Royal Maundy service was due to happen today. The Queen wrote to 190 recipients who would’ve been there to receive a gift from her. She writes: “I’m sure you will be sad, as I am, that the present circumstances make it impossible for that Service to take place”

This was the first tweet i read this morning. But no one else on my feed is really talking about it. And I googled and didn’t find much except for prince William is having a hard time not sharing his side of the story. Eye roll. Is this an April Fools thing? Oops maybe! But that’s a weird joke.

Like, let's say Anne did say it. If Charles and/or Will didn't step up and say "that's ridiculous, we don't care what color the babies skin is" then they are just as complicit.

I'm sure it's very much the "culture" of *you better never bring home a black boy* that I was raised in. They would all claim they're not racist and they like BIPOC, but they don't want one in the family. It makes me sick. Ah yes, like NIMBY, but at a personal level. My mom told me it would just be "easier" if I didn't date Black guys. I was 11. She now doesn't remember ever saying such a thing. 😒

And she wonders why I've distanced myself emotionally.

Is this an April Fools thing? I always thought this was going to be how it worked so jokes on me I guess. The Queen built her whole reign on never ever abdicating, no way she lets her son do it while she is alive.

It having been Anne doesn’t make the situation any better! It still happened and in fact by trying to spin it, they have confirmed that Meghan and Harry are telling the truth. I think that the reason they specifically said it wasn’t Elizabeth or Phillip is because the racist comments likely happened as part of several conversations and weren’t met with the rest of the room yelling at them. Instead they were all showing their racist asses to some degree. Treating the baby being mixed like some kind of scandal to handle. I just can’t. Omg I hadn’t even thought of the fact that the spin confirms the comments 🤦🏼♀️ My gosh they are bad at this. So Chuck threw his sister under the bus? Sounds about right. My guess is that Anne has the clout to take it. She's the hardest working, with the most engagements year after year. If they said it was Andrew, that would just add fuel to the already burning pile of poo that is him. Edward was an option but if they are going to start using them as a replacement for M&H, you don't really want their hands dirty.

I think the way that Meghan phrased it "there were conversations about" makes believe that it was several people and over a period of time. Probably when they were had AT Harry when he first got serious with Meghan to caution him from *gasp* marrying her. And then again when she was pregnant as a hands wringing, what it going to happen "casual" racism. None of the senior royals talked out against it, or I think Meghan and Harry would have said. Just like they corrected the narrative that Elizabeth and Phillip were not involved in those conversations.
As a side note, I always forget about Edward being a blood royal. He is so forgettable.

I take everything Lady Colin Campbell says with a pillar of salt, but she is saying that Anne was the royal who made the skin tone comments, but that the Sussexes misrepresented them because Meghan wants to spin things to be a victim. That Anne was concerned about the "culture." Yea, that's not better. Still racist. Also, I guarantee at this point she wasn't the only one that made a comment. This and if I were Anne, I’d be so effing pissed that they were trying to make me the fall guy for the direct heirs. Boy, is that family messed up. Seeing them all point fingers at each other isn’t going to save the monarchy. I have a hard time believing Harry would take such a radical step in 1. leaving the family and then 2. Spilling the tea in a public interview because of something his aunt, of all people, said.
