Last week I had a minor surgery (everything’s fine). It was a twilight type of sedation so I was mostly awake throughout but high AF. 1. The nurse asked me what music I wanted to listen to during the procedure. I panicked and couldn’t think of a single artist aside from TSwift. The nurse visibly cringed. She played a single Taylor song and then changed the music without comment lol. 2. I am 90% sure I made inappropriate jokes to the doctor. I am who I am. Even twilight sedation completely knocks me out (woo for low tolerance) but I'm pretty sure if they asked me something like that while I was still aware I'd say something completely inappropriate like Rammstein XD ETA maybe my confession should be that I have listened to wholly "inappropriate" music during procedures before, on my headphones but turned up pretty loud lol

I asked DH to make dinner tonight because I had to work till close and I’m always starving when I get home. I told him to thaw a casserole on the counter for a few hours before baking if that’s what he was making. He did not listen to that advice. I am still waiting for this damned dinner. I am so annoyed because how much easier could I make it for him? My gosh.

He started getting it ready at 6pm when I got home. Now at 7:38, it’s still in the oven. I just want to go to bed. Sorry. Didn’t mean to center this to me. I meant “omg same! What a coincidence and also geez these guys!”

I might have told this story before- sorry if it’s a repeat: When I had my egg retrieval for IVF, they sent my husband off to do his thing while I was in surgery. Apparently my mouth came out of anesthesia before my brain did, because I guess when I they were wheeling me back down the hall I saw him and used my Loud Voice to ask if he “had fun flogging the donkey.” I have never used that phrase before or since, but it must have been deep in my brain waiting for the right moment. I’m sure they hear inappropriate things all the time.

I started cooking the bread my husband was raising in the oven on Wednesday. This is why I need a proofing box. Thankfully it was in a SS bowl and only the bread and the plastic cover needed to be tossed. But this was definately me as soon as I remembered it was in there. And now my husband did it to a second bowl... He's mad at himself, but it's so easy to get distracted and forget that something is in there.

He had two items in there. Bread and pizza dough. We put a piece of painters tape over the on switches and he must have blanked and moved it when he took one out. Luckily it was a metal bowl again. No real damage. But he's just like me, my focus narrows when I'm trying to get stuff done.

A couple of times. It was the worst when I was at work in the kitchen because I'd get soooo busy lol

I took last Thursday off for a root canal and I was so happy to have the day off. I pretty much enjoy my job, so I’m not sure why I’d rather have major dental work than go in. I had to do distance learning with M in the morning, but not having to think about work was nice.

We left the state today. And realized we hadn't done so since LAST MARCH (and I live in an area where there are 3-4 different states in a few hours drive). A year! Its crazy.
I also won't be quarantining everyone for two weeks as is the rules.
But, we went to one store that happened to be over the line. So be it.

Obv every state varies, but in Vermont you're allowed to leave the state for the day and not quarantine. It's supposed to be just for work, food or medical reasons, but plenty of non-essential day-trips are safer than essential ones. I've had a few out of state clients come up to oversee a production (we just keep them 6 ft from everyone), and I've gone over to NH for booze more than a few times.

No matter what the amount of time, even less than a day, exceptions are for medical procedures, commuting (they count it as going to the same workplace at least twice a week- I had to give up a gig because of this) and passing through to get to an airport or transportation hub, but only stopping at rest areas/gas. And military service, and I think shared custody arrangements. Everything else requires a 2 week quarantine. I haven’t seen my parents just over the border in months because I’d have to miss 2 weeks of work after.

That's crazypants (at least from a Vermont perspective). We have some towns that are basically one municipal region with the town on the other side of the state border. I mean, that's also true on the Vermont/Canada border, but that's clearly different.

There are I think 3 towns that are literally just over the border (2 in Quebec which are just the other side of a bridge, 1 in Nova Scotia) where the residents regularly used to come to New Brunswick for shopping, socializing, food, what have you, and now can't. You have to apply to come across, it's only for essentials, and if you get denied you're SOL and have to drive an hour to the next closest store that's within your province.

I’ve gone to our house in CT a few times, which technically breaks the rules, but I’ve had to go for, like, house repair issues. Each time I make sure to stop for gas before I leave the state so I don’t have to actually interact with any humans over the border. This is all so hard.

But the good thing about this is that people arent just blatantly ignoring the rules and carrying on with life. Here if you are happy to lie to your work/school then you can do what you want. And sadly many people seem to do just that.

My favorite was hearing all of my students’ Thanksgiving plans. “First we’re having dinner at my aunt’s, then going to my grandma’s, THEN dessert with my dad’s side of the family, and then we have to get up early to go Black Friday shopping.” Great. See you on Monday- thanks for thinking of everyone’s safety.
