Why can’t I make unicorn babies that sleep during the night? Or at least better chunks .

Morning. Baby girl slept terrible last night. Dh normally handles diaper changes during the night, I do the nursing (duh), shushing, patting calming etc. After mostly being awake between 10-2 u handed the baton to Dh... he’s great at calming her, but he sucks at swaddling, so she woke up again almost as soon as she was put down. He’s also very grumpy today, combined with me being exhausted this is a great combination...

Cadence woke up 10 minutes before my alarm and rather than just calmly slipping into my bed she climbed up and basically just stood over me telling me to get up. Kid, no. She had her reading MAP test yesterday and today is math. I log her in and then get in the shower so I don't have to hear her bitching about it. We aren't allowed to help and that pisses her off. So I just make myself scarce. She did decent and improved upon her scores from a few months ago, so that's good. I did message her teacher last night though because she's reverted back to switching b and d and refuses to read, insisting that she can't. So I'm going to try buddy reading with her to see if that builds up her confidence in it. 1st day:she reads odd pgs, I read even 2nd day(same book): she reads even, I read odd 3rd day(same book): she reads it all We'll see how it goes. Her teacher also said if we alternate sentences that will help her to understand complete sentences better.

I always forget to say, it’s amazing your kids can all do those computer things themselves! We’re not tech people ourselves (and that’s an understatement) and of course our school isn’t either, so the kids wouldn’t even be able to turn our dingy old laptop on 😂.

klong11 I’m sorry she’s insecure about her reading skills. It sucks they feel this pressure at this age already 😕. I’ve used similar strategies with dyslectic student in the past. I would read the entire text (1 page) and we’d highlight difficult words, then I would read one paragraph, which the student would then repeat & then after the student would read the entire text.

nam2013 this year has basically forced C to become tech savvy. The school provided the iPad and all the apps needed, but she has to know how to navigate through them herself since I'm not home and mh is home, but working. I honestly wish she didn't have to be on it so much, but pandemic. ☹️

I ran some errands after I dropped M off at school and now I'm at work. Nothing exciting to report.

Good morning from freezing-cold FL. At least the sun is out today...it's been really overcast and kind of damp the last few days. Not delightful. Our roof wrapped up last night and the foreman just left after the final walk-around, running the magnets one last time, etc. The roof itself looks awesome and makes the house look much newer. Once we finish the landscaping when DH gets home we'll be in good shape. Since I haven't been around the house much the last couple days, I have a lot of stuff to catch up on--mostly laundry B has tennis tonight and my dad is going to grill steaks for dinner.

Morning. I did not get nearly enough sleep last night. Sleep training is not fixing the 400 wake ups. We are still in the middle of it though so hopefully she will have a breakthrough soon. We are supposed to have some winter weather today that may turn into a blizzard. It was very lightly flurrying on my way home from dropping S at school. I just hope the roads aren’t terrible for my drive to and from work tonight.

She finished her math test. Her score went down. I'm honestly not surprised though. I walked in at one point and she was rolling around on the floor with her tablet, so she was clearly not interested in taking the districts mandated test. I know she knows the information, she just has no interest in sitting still for an hour.

I'm at work now. Smokey is giving me the silent treatment since I yelled at her the other day for coming to work sick. I don't mind, since at least it keeps her 6ft+ away from me. LOL

Hi.
I went to bed early, for a change, last night so I don’t feel as tired as normal this morning. I didn’t plan on it, I just did after reading a bit of a boring book I’m trying to get through.
I need to come up with something to cook for dinner tonight. MH is taking the boys to my ILs tomorrow for the weekend and I will be at home alone! can. Not. Wait.

Anybody watch The Morning Show on Apple TV? I finished it last night and I need the second season to find out what happens next.
I plan on getting through some HBO stuff this weekend while the kids are away.

klong11 imo it’s ridiculous to expect a 7yo to do an hour long test 🙄. I mean seriously, my 15yo students have a hard time focussing for an hour if I test them, heck I myself would struggle to stay focused!

klong11 An hour on a computerized test at home seems like a lot for this age. We haven't had to take tests at home like that but I typically notice on B's math assessments that come home he'll have skipped a question, or missed stuff that I am absolutely sure he knows. I think he kind of mentally checks out sometimes and/or just wants to be finished. I keep talking to him about checking his work, slowing down, etc. I definitely had that tendency as a kid (wanting to be one of the first finished) and I am trying to nip it in the bud, ha.

M is the exact same. I tell him all the time that he is rushing through and not taking his time because he’ll have one or two wrong answers that I can tell is not just him counting wrong, but him not slowing down to focus on that one problem. He always just disagrees with me instead of hearing me out. He thinks he knows everything. 🙄

Hi hi. We’re supposed to be in the midst of a blizzard. H’s preschool even called off school for tomorrow already. Aaaand we’ve gotten like zero snow. I mean, it’s been snowing a bit but it’s too warm for it to stick. Maybe things will happen overnight... the kids will be bummed if this turns into nothing. Dh plows snow into a man made hill in the back yard and it’s getting a little low.
We have a sitter coming tonight for the first time since early October. I wish it was for a date night, but we just have a meeting to go to.

Hey everyone! I've missed you all and promise to do better! We switched software effective January 1 and its been a total shit show. Lack of training, templates of information weren't loaded correctly, everyday I wake up wondering what fresh hell awaits me.
But I'm finally kind of getting it.
So I will hopefully be around more!

I don’t know if I posted today or not. On Thursdays C doesn’t go to aftercare and I pick him up. I love having him run out to me and get the full rundown on the way home. He brought home the “book” he and his two friends at school have been working on for months. It’s a crazy story about a superhero names SoccerKid that has ghosts, monsters, and friends that rise from the dead as zombies. The mom drives a monster truck. The sentences are a mess and half of the book I can’t actually read but the pictures are great and I love the creativity. C wants Dh to take it to work to get a few color copies to give out. I’m happy he is excited about writing and books.
