Hello from the fog that is exhaustion. I couldn't fall asleep last night, then right after I finally did Cadence started yelling for me. I went to her room and mh had forgotten to turn off her fish tank light. She couldn't get her butt out of bed and walk the three steps to turn it off. Luckily, she went right back to sleep. Then, I had to get up at 7 to get her ready for online school. We've gotten used to waking up late, so 7 was not pleasant. Also, my eye is a lovely shade of red this morning. It isn't pink eye and there is no discharge, so I think it's just irritated.

Hi hi - late night here, I didn't mean to get sucked into the election results, but clearly did and the couldn't fall asleep bc I was so excited. Just need to get through today now and get the nuts out of the city. Kind of alarming with the number of alerts and things closed bc of the rally downtown.
I am looking at camps for the summer for j and may do one a bit pricier than the generic aftercare one bc they are multi-state and had experience from last summer in the Northeast. It also has daily swimming and free before/after care if registering early. I'm sure mh will have opinions though.
They offer prek, but hoping the girls daycare will be open by then🤞🤞🤞

wedding, that breaks my heart. Poor C! He is lucky to have you. I can’t help with the Covid anxiety piece, but maybe he could do one of those grounding exercises (like the one where you can see these two things, hear these three things, touch these two things, etc.)before he falls asleep to help him stay mindful and calm. ETA: but to add on to @klongoria’s post. Stop breathe think kids is an excellent resource for mindfulness/calming exercises They even have a few clips on Hulu.

vino , I'm side-eying that psychologist calling it a "crutch" especially given B's age. Yes, underlying anxiety may still remain but until he has the cognitive ability to more deeply examine his thoughts, a behavioral approach is your best bet. It's a tool that could help with no negative side effects. What's the worst that could happen? If it ends up only being a temporary fix, some weeks of better sleep (which can also provide the opportunity to develop better sleep habits) is better than no weeks of improved sleep. wedding I'm sorry that C is struggling with anxiety and panic. You are a loving and caring mom so I know C is going to have a lot of support to learn to better navigate it. Here's some things I would try: 1) search "breathing relaxation for children" on YouTube. Controlling breathing is one of the best ways to get control of a panic attack. You can try different videos and see which one C responds to the best. Practice once or twice a day and encourage him to try it when his breathing is difficult. 2) Sometime when it's not close to bedtime (maybe at dinner) have some time to discuss worries/concerns/world events (be sure to have some good news to share too). Explain to C that it's ok to share the thoughts and worries he has and it's good to have an opportunity to get it out of his head. This also gives you an opportunity to counteract some of those worries with rationalization. 3) As lahdeedah suggested, maybe add something to the bedtime routine to try to help him focus on positive thoughts. Good luck and I hope something works for your sweet boy.

Good morning! Same old here. Kids are at school, and mh is working upstairs, and I ran to Home Depot to get more trim paint and some accent paint for the kids’ rooms. I love Home Depot carpeting- flooring- homeware section. I could’ve spent all day just browsing and making plans. Charlie came home with a birthday invitation for MLK day; it’s a four hour party (for four-year-olds), and doesn’t give any details about what they’ll be doing. I’m having a hard time committing to an RSVP because I can’t in good conscience say yes without the details. I sent a text and I am waiting now.

Hi ladies.
I've been struggling to get back into the routine and work was insane yesterday so I didn't get a chance to check-in. I've also been mentally drained knowing I work 11 days straight. Once I get through SUN it won't be bad because the rest is telework and that doesn't suck my energy the same way the office does.
I've been kind of soul searching about my second job and what to do in the future. I dread those weekends I work more and more. Our state doesn't support us so it's always very chaotic and disorganized. We have a new Commander and he's your typical military alpha male who spouts off a lot of BS when he's clearly never had to deal with oppression in the workplace and I don't like him at all. The previous BS was more effectively mitigated with the better female leadership we've had in the past years. I'm a person who can get comfortable where I'm at and it's hard for me to make a big change, but I think I've finally decided that hopefully within the next 2 years I've going to transfer to a different state for that job (will still leave here, just travel and hopefully some telework when I do the other job). I've felt guilt about leaving the people on my team I like (used to have a great team and loved them all, now I really like 2/4 and would be happy to say peace out to the others) as well as worry about going through a lot of time and effort to switch and may not like it at the new place. I've talked to people who are there and they seem to really like it whereas at my place morale is low because of the constant BS (like last month when we sat around all SAT with hardly anything to do then a bunch of people showed up at 4:00 for screenings and instead of being turned away we had to stay until 7 for those fuck-ups who dicked around all day). I feel better having made a decision and seeing a light at the end of the tunnel for the BS here. I have 7-9 years left and I just can't see myself lasting that long with the ways things have been.

Yes jewels and inthekitty, my friend says shit like that all the time, little digs that sometimes get in my head. I've generally learned to let the comments roll off but maybe cause this has to do with B I'm a little more sensitive to her words. Thanks for letting me vent here, it is appreciated.

lahdeedah I've also been following the senate race and so psyched and proud for GA. Stacey Abrams should get some serious recognition for all her work. And whoa to Ozark indeed. They better have another season. TV talk: I finished The Wilds and Cobra Kai. The Wilds was okay. They better have a second season though because nothing was answered. Cobra Kai was a lot of fun and overall good third season. I was satisfied with the season's end and glad the story was progressing. It was going to get old fast if they just kept doing the same BS. I finally started watching The Boys. MH wanted me to watch it and I passed because he likes a lot of stuff I don't. But then Obama had it on his list of recommendations so I decided it was worth a try. So far I really like it. Thanks for the rec Obama.

I've finished the Wilds as well, I'm not sure what to think. It's weird and a little insightful but kinda disturbing. I'm sure I'll watch to see what happens but I dont think it'll be something I rush to watch.

Hi, SSDD here. I woke up with allergies again. Does anyone know if pregnancy can make allergies worse? I never really.had anything much to speak of but for the past month I've had several sneezing episodes and needed to take Zyrtec. Although today I'm pretty tired...hopefully it's not actually a cold... Yes. My allergies were much worse with my last pregnancy. A new symptom I never had before was itchy ears, super annoying.

Hey all. It snowed all morning so I just took S to school and came home. I miss AWD. I signed V up for a model call the other day and got a message that they picked her. It’s for the little sleepies brand. I have actually never bought anything from them but I hear it’s good stuff. The shoot is next week. I am also very excited about GA results. I really like Ossoff, I hope he does good things. wedding I’m sorry he’s struggling. You’ve been given lots of good advice and I really don’t have anything else to add. I hope things get better soon.

vino even if its a crutch, that doesn’t mean it’s bad or won’t help! For a lot of children and adults with sensory issues it helps a lot. And sleep is so important! vino I agree with this. How is it a different crutch than sleeping with a stuffed animal or white noise machine or whatever people use? Honestly, I think it was silly of her to say that. If it helps him, then what's the harm?? This is where I am. I tried to say this earlier, but it wasn’t coming out right in what I was typing. Thank you jewels. I felt a way about her saying that to you. It’s a pandemic and we may all need crutches until we get out of this.

There was the past, the present on the island, and the present with the experimenters and it was too much for 10 episodes. Plus they chose to do some boring plot points with their small use of time. I don't really see where they can go with it that it would have a satisfactory conclusion.

inthekitty , I am so happy you have options. How far away would the new job be? Still in the Northwest? Nope. And that's part of the issue. I'm in WA and looking at NV. I've discovered after 6 years here it can only be different levels of crappy but never good depending on our immediate leadership because our higher leadership sucks. We do annual medical exams. It should be really easy to have an organized system. Yet it's chaos every month. Sometimes hundreds of people not showing up when scheduled which leaves us in the lurches to try to accommodate them when they grace us with their presence later. The full-time staff is awful. Our case manager is so, so lazy and we haven't been able to get a replacement. Plus, despite being a medical team, since the new CDR took over this summer the care and management of Covid has been really pathetic. I've met the OR people on several occasions and they're weird and cliquey. I'm up for promotion now, which will hopefully go through next year and I'd start looking into the process of switching after that. My chances of ever being promoted higher in WA are slim to none, but my odds are much better in NV. I know someone who switched from WA to NV several years ago and has been very happy with it. I'd potentially have to travel to NV once a month which would be a lot more than I care to, but this person thinks they are likely in need of my profession enough that they'd allow me to telework at least part of the year (quarterly in person perhaps). In NV I could drill in either Reno or Las Vegas. There's usually decent priced flights from here to Vegas but I'd have to pay myself. My unit would put me up in a hotel. Oddly, where they drill is right on the strip. I'm not really a Vegas person (I hate to gamble), but I could sightsee and enjoy the pool in the evening. Sometimes my family could join me and we could make a long weekend of it.
