Hi! I used to post a bit but I took a year off. Hope it's OK that I'm starting a January thread for chatting about our babies!
I had a baby girl on September 3. She's getting her 4 month vaccines tomorrow.
Right now she's transitioning from 4 naps to 3 naps and our schedule is looking weird some days. Currently she just woke up at 3pm from her 3rd nap so bedtime will be super early.
How's everyone else and their babies doing this month?

I was supposed to go back to work tomorrow but our house had covid. Yayyy 😐
The baby has had diarrhea all day and he's the last one standing at this point. Nervous he might have caught it.
We still don't really have a schedule. I feed on demand baby is a 2-3 nap a day kid. He takes a morning cat nap then either takes one or two longer naps later in the day. It all sodt of depends on when he wakes for the day and tired he is throughout the day.
He's a sweet, happy litt dude though.

I need schedules for my own sanity! My older two are 4.5 and 2.5 and I feel like schedules and routines are what keep me going 😅.

Regarding naps, I’m not sure how many DD2 takes per day. It’s probably 4 on most days? I feed her when she’s hungry, let her sleep when she’s sleepy, and that’s working out fine for now. Depending on her nap length, she seems to have a window of 1-1.5, maybe up to 2 hours of awake time before she wants to sleep again, so I’m trying to be more cognizant of that to make sure she’s in a dry diaper and her sleep sack before I start nursing her to sleep. Yeah, C can only go 80 to 90 minutes between naps still. But she can do 2 hours before bedtime.

We have a rough schedule; remote school or school drop off for DD1, I workout and shower, OT if it's M/The or playtime until lunch, lunch, naps/quiet time gets us to about 4pm usually. Bedtime for all kids is 8pm.
Once I go back to work and H is I'm charge during the day trying to manage all three kids and squeeze in a few hours of work he'll put them on a pretty solid schedule. He'll want and need things more regimented.

Welcome mintyblueair! We also have no schedule, and at daycare H just doed short cat naps all day. She's really easy to tell when she's tired though, you can just see it in her eyes. cnf I hope it hasn't been too rough for you guys! Also, I think there's a chance H is teething. Drool, hands and toys to mouth, extra fussy and staryed biting while she nurses. We'll see soon if she is I guess.

I'm rambling tonight.
Today was the first day back to work after winter break. I had my 1st grader home doing distance learning, but it was so nice to not be in charge of 3 kids all day. DH is finishing our basement which is awesome, but he's busy working then all days off so I'm on solo parenting duty a lot. With grey MN winters I was just done after those 12 days off.

I'm also going to need to reacclimate mine to polite society once life is back to normal.

C is drooling a lot but I don't think she's teething yet.
She did fine all day after her shots this morning, but she was exhausted by bedtime even though her last nap went later than normal. Both my older kids had fevers after the 4 month shots so we'll see if she wakes up with one overnight. Hopefully not 🤞
Today was also my husband's first day back at work after a 4 month parental leave (even though he ended up working a ton while on leave). He's working from home but it was still a bit of a change for us!

Welcome mintyblueair! C naps decent at day care, the teacher usually gets him to take at least one 2 hour nap. At home I'm lucky if we get 45 minutes. 🙃 Serious drooling over here too, but I still don't feel any teeth. After being home with both boys for the week between Christmas and New year, I'm so thankful we're all back to school/work and getting on our routine again.

She slept 13 hours like a log that night but was back to her usual one wake up last night.

My husband and I are watching Little Fires Everywhere and discussing the logistics of a 4th baby 😬 No discussion of that here!! DH already got snipped. Maybe if mine ever slept through the night like you mentioned above. But I only get babies that hate sleep and usually don't sleep through until around age 2.

Mine have all been decent sleepers, if they weren't I definitely would not consider more. The first two months with a new baby are soooo hard for me, but then that stage passes and I start to feel like I can do it again. I thought I'd feel done forever after C was born so it's surprising to me that I'm thinking about one more.

My husband and I are watching Little Fires Everywhere and discussing the logistics of a 4th baby 😬 How old are your other kids? Four kids is a lot of work, but not much more work than three, and the transition from 3-4 was our easiest one yet. But going through pregnancy while parenting 3 kids... that’s rough. 😅 They're 4.5 and 2.5. Going from 2 to 3 has been the easiest transition for us so we kind of thought, well, maybe 3 to 4 would ok! What about yours, how old are your others? We like that ours are relatively close in age so ideally we would like #4 in the not-too-distant future.

Nice!

shesellscshells can I ask you a question about the 4 kid life? What's the bedroom situation like for you? We have 4 bedrooms but one is in the basement, so it's a bit awkward. Right now the older two share but this is my biggest logistical hang-up.

mintyblueair We’re currently in a 4bd. The oldest two share a room, our toddler has a room, the baby is room sharing with us in the master bedroom, and the 4th bedroom is being used as a playroom. They’ll likely all share bedrooms, two to a room, once the baby is old enough. Thanks! Room sharing is a no go for us so I'll have to think about maybe moving our room downstairs, at least until the youngest 2 can share.

We had such a weird day in terms of naps. I feel like I can't go by my baby's "cues" because they just aren't reliable. Today I could never tell if she was overtired or undertired but it's quarter to 5 and she's napping. Wondering what kind of night we're in for 😅

H was up at 4 am today super fussy. Napped well today, but now it's 11pm and fussy again and won't go down. I think it is teeth, her lower gums look swollen so we finally gave in and gave Tylenol a few minutes ago. 🤞🤞

Our night ended up OK, she woke up at her usual time of 4am and then was back down until 7am. My husband, as usual, went rushing in to feed her but she only drank a small amount. I don't think she's always hungry at that time so tonight we're going to start giving her some time to resettle herself. She doesn't cry when she wakes.

If this is how we're starting off teething with this one it might be a long, sleepless road.

They always came in in twos and she was always awful when it happened. My first never skipped a beat when she got teeth, even molars. This kid is very drooly and constantly has his hands in his mouth. I keep looking and feeling, but nothing yet. We'll see how he handles in. Hopefully your babe surprises you and isn't too bothered.

I never knew when my older 2 were teething, teeth would just be there one day. I keep seeing this tiny white dot on C's lower gums and I keep trying to feel if it's the tip of a tooth poking through but I can't feel anything. And she's not fussy. But if I recall correctly my other daughter got her bottom two teeth at around 5 months.

J is drooly but I read something about gearing up to eat foods instead of just milk so I’m going with that.

I can see two bottom teeth coming, still below the gums! At least I know there's a reason she's been up 5-6 times the last 2 nights.😴
