If you peel the gel off, it will definitely mess up your nails, but if you soak with acetone or use the new jelly stuff, I think they are mostly fine.

Used up some CS Charleston Blush and did an opi matte coat - but forgot to let that set and wrecked a couple. DD wanted me to try her sparkles to cover the damage. Not sure that I’ll keep them for very long, but the preteen wanted to hang with me and do nails so that was a plus.

Here's the finished product. I'm way disappointed in the color. Like, it's fine. But it was in my neon kit! I was thinking it would be much, much brighter. That's a lovely spring/Easter purple, but not what I'd think of when reading neon. Exactly! Definitely not my ravens purple for the playoffs tonight!!

I also just got a beetles set and the colors I got don't really match what's on the site either. Thankfully, the quality is still quite good and it was cheap for a full kit. but it's going to take some trial and error to figure out what is actually red and what is in fact a weird poopy brown color. lol.

thechickencoop which color neon is that? I wonder if it's the same set my neon pink came from. It's this one! [img src="htt1 I don’t know that I think this is a neon purple even in the ad. Some of them are neon. But the purple and the teal on the ends are not neon in my opinion. Pretty colors. But not neon. I’d still try not doing it over white.

I did this light purple last night and I’m totally obsessed. Just the right amount of shimmer.

Oh gel polish, damn. I’m too scared to try that 😂 I was really scared at first too. And it is a little bit of an up front cost investment (but less than I thought.) And it does take a little longer with having to dry each coat under the lamp. BUT. I really don’t think it is complicated. And it is more forgiving in that you can fix stuff before you cure it and it’ll be perfect. And it just last so much longer. And dries so perfectly. And doesn’t chip. I’m all in man. And IMO, gel takes so much less time because I wait a long time between regular polish coats to make sure they're dried sufficiently. I love gel, but I can never get them to last a very long time on me for some reason.

But since it's so much cheaper, it's just an excuse to do them more often!

I tried Impress nails for the first time and I really was impressed (lol). They didn't look fake at all, it looked like I had been to the salon and it was professionally done. I've pretty much kicked my nail biting habit so I have longer nails now but I wanted the cute colors and designs. They were so easy to do and lasted way longer than I expected

The one I got had like a matte dark blue with 2 different accent designs. One was like a white marble the other just sparkly. I wish I could post pics!

Cleaning and drying by our nails really well, I use alcohol swabs. Making sure you don’t go all the way to the edge of your nail, the oils from your skin can cause the edges to lift. And capping the tips with base, color, and top coat. Also, if you just get a chip you can file it down and fix just the chip which is much harder to do well with regular polish.

What brand base and top coat do you use? I just picked a random one on Amazon.

I’m currently using Gelish and modelone. But I’ve also herd good things about aimeilie and DND. I used beetles in the beginning and it’s fine, but not as good as gelish.

I don’t love it. I thought the peach would be more nude and the gold would be more glitter. But it’s growing on me and a nice light change from black.

I did Defy & Inspire Ship Happens. I like it but I should have done a 3rd coat. I need better lighting.

I bought a new color. Essie- Wire-less is more. I feel like it’s hard to photograph but it’s like a purplish-silver and I like how iridescent it is. I did a coat of glitter on one nail.

icedcoffee, my MIL loves impress nails and sent me a few sets last summer to try. I really liked them! I felt like they looked good and held up well. I sort of forgot about them as an option. I should get more.

So, one of my dip nails popped off and then my natural nail tore, so I tried the tea bag trick where you place a small piece of tea bag over the tear and secure it with nail glue, let it dry, and then file & polish.
I redid the nail with dip powder when it was dry, and it’s still holding strong! 🙌

I did these last night and was in a hurry so my application isn't the greatest. I thought the glitter was going to be more gray/silver instead of rainbow-y but I don't hate it. Color Street SoHo-Over It.

Thank you for those who mentioned the impress nails. I love The way my nails look at the salon but they are too small for me to paint myself to look good. And ragged. But I’m not comfortable with the salon yet and wanted to look more put together. These are just what I needed!!
