How do you all generally sign work emails? I tend to default to some type of thanks/thank you or just write my name if that doesn't feel appropriate. I see v/r a lot. I've been googling and Forbes says the #1 most common and what experts say to use is "Best." I have literally never seen that in my work. NEVER EVER.
Anyway, wanting to try something other than "thanks." I feel like that sounds like pushover female and I am trying to be more confident. Although DH says that is pretty common for him to use some form of "thanks" too.

Just made myself some dried chickpeas in the air fryer rolling basket. It was lovely to not feel the pressure to stir or flip them. They turned out quite nicely.

dependent on my relationship the first is one I usually use for outside clients I know personally, the second is internal and I'm done talking with you now go away, but the last 2 are the most common for me
Best seems weird to me and I wouldn't be able to bring myself to do it.

I think it's supposed to be a cool way to say with regards, or more specifically it stands for "very respectfully."

I’ve been watching Derry Girls and having the same actress playing Penelope and Claire is a trip. She’s great!

Huh I use best almost exclusively. Same. I fell into the habit in grad school when I needed something not-too-formal but also not-too familiar for TAing.

Huh I use best almost exclusively. I use best unless they are a pretty frequent contact and then it's Thanks. Unless they're on my shit list and then they get nothing.

I mostly use:
Thanks!
Which I know is controversial but I’m an explanation mark over user (I’m sure y’all know that by now. Lol). Sorry not sorry.
I also use Thanks,
And some times best regards, but that’s mostly for people I have a one off interaction with. I actually love the holidays because I’ll switch it up with a Happy Holidays or Season’s Greetings.
I would be very confused John Travolta with a v/r.

Thanks is my signature default "Thank you" if I've used "thanks" a lot
Warm Regards typically as an undercover "fuck you"

iruntodrink I'm so glad yh wasn't hurt worse!! I always worry about my and road cycling because he loves to go too fast on some of the hills and curves here. So i get it! I hope he learned his lesson for sure. my dude is very much a "It will be fine" person, so this was an eye-opener. He was scared. Sometimes (unfortunately) it's the only way they learn. As an overly cautious nervous nellie, we oft butt heads. 🤣

a previous secretary (like old school, trained on a typewriter/shorthand secretary) signed all my company's letters with "very truly yours" which was also very strange to me. We have files going back to 1968 and up until 2003ish when she retired all the correspondence is that way.

I always end with "Have a lovely day". Don't know why, I just do. Even short replies, I tack that on at the end.
I've caught myself automatically adding it to the end of emails I've transcribed for MH. Whoopsies!

When I worked as a paralegal in college, if we were dealing with a difficult client, we were told to use "very truly yours" - then when the attorneys were looking at correspondence, they'd know who the pain in the ass was.

AmyG how did your son's applications turn out? I said I would read a revised draft and never heard back. FX for him!! No news yet. soooo many of the schools once he got into the application process they were like click this link to complete a stupid online form sort of like a google form. lol here's a text box, enter all of your info here in plain text and no you can't use special characters, and some of them didn't even particularly like punctuation. some of them would accept uploads of resumes, letters or unofficial transcripts. some didn't. He said there were also spelling and grammar errors in the applications and it seemed like they were made by an 8th grader. He was not impressed.

I use Thanks, as my sign off. I didn’t know what v/r meant until today and I’ve never seen it. The abbreviation kind of annoys me for some reason. 😅

I just opened an unexpected package from my mom’s cousin (who is more my grandfather’s age because large family problems) and it was a quilt top that my great grandma made! It’s gorgeous and just what I needed to distract me from the gop shenanigans in PA.

Y'all my youngest is honing her filibuster skills! X can call twice a week, but she doesn't want to talk to him. So she just read him The Foot Book. And now she is reading it backwards to him! This isn't the first time she has done something like this. She has started a pokemon game and read him every bubble and instructions, then when he called again she restarted the whole game and read it all to him again. She has also sang him 3 rounds of B I N G O and she sang row row row your boat 36.4 times! Clever girl! ❤
