So I admit Potty training L was not a common way. Right now with E I put her on the potty once an hour or when she says she needs to go. What do I do with her at DC? I should have started on Thursday so we had a few more days before going back to DC. our lady was not the beat with L but E is her only kid right now so I’m not sure. Any suggestions? I feel like a FTM again. I'd tell her what you've been doing at home and ask her what she's able to do at DC.

I think that is what I had as well, mamabear. That was obviously several years ago but I would recommend them.

Send her with tons of changes -even extra shoes and socks and ask her to put her on the potty every hour.

Morning!
B starts back to school tomorrow, C on Wednesday. Selfishly I could use one more day of vacation but I know B is ready to get back and see his friends.
The birthday party last night was fun and I took the kids to Newk's afterward for a quick dinner. Today I'm trying to get the house cleaned up for real, and this afternoon I'm going with my parents to see the new Tom Hanks movie, and we may get Thai afterwards. My cousin is coming over to watch the kids.

Yesterday I spent the whole day driving. The girls and I picked up some baby rats. None of the breeders closer to us had rats available anytime soon or seemed reliable. It was worth it in the end. We met up with my mom since it was close to her town and just walked around the store we met at and chatted.
The rat lady was really nice and all her rats were very well cared for. We got 4 girls. I was hoping for a bit more variety in their coats so they'd be easier to tell apart right away but even though they are all light they have differences.
The girls are in love. Star, Shadow, Light, and Tunnel are settling in nicely. The cat, true to form, dgaf. The dog was super excited and looked forward to going upstairs to look at them several times.
So I expect today will be focused on playing with ratties.

Morning. I made schedules for homeschooling. I need to set up the table & make a crate with all school appropriate activities for dd too. Ds cried this morning about not going to school tomorrow, so I joined him 🙄. I’m anxious for the homeschooling period which I fear will continue longer, than the next two weeks. I’m just not sure how we’re going to manage two different schedules and a newborn. I’m worried that my energy is going towards the school part, leaving me to exhausted to also do the fun things with the kids. And baby girl will for sure get the short end of the attention stick. And I hate that, I was so looking forward to cocooning with the little one, just us. But hey most of you girls have been dealing with this for much much longer, so I really shouldn’t complain.

nam2013 what modality are they using for school (i.e. mostly computer-based, worksheets, etc)? If it's computer-based you're main things to focus on are: 1) making sure they're logged in on time, and 2) can navigate the computer. The first few days will require more effort but after that they should start getting the routine down and need little assistance from you when they are in school. If it's mostly worksheets/instruction from you I'd do whatever works best for you in terms of schedule and time. At the end of the day, don't put too much pressure on yourself. If the kids end up playing with blocks instead of getting a worksheet done it's not the end of the world. There are going to be some hick-ups, but even if it continues for a few weeks, with kids that age, the most important thing is to make sure they are still exposed to reading. On tough days just try to ensure you get some time in to read them a story and call it a day. It's ok to be frustrated with the situation. It's an unexpected challenge. Hopefully you guys get in a good routine soon.

inthekitty thank you for that. For ds it’s worksheets, three 30 minute zoom lessons a week, reading & some structured creative assignments. So he’ll need a lot of guidance. For dd it’s mostly play based at school, so no real structure for at home, but I do want to follow her daily school activities too. We have to pick up some art activities for her tomorrow & will bake each Thursday (they do this each week at school too). Songs and storytelling are a big part of daily school life, luckily both teachers will send those daily. I made daily schedules from 08.30 till 12 -12.30 for both to have some structure. We already read to them several times each day & read almost daily with ds, so that won’t change .

We sat around all morning waiting for A's grandma to tell us when they were coming to exchange gifts. She's pissed that we wouldn't attend the 40+ people Christmas at her house. She texted me early after I asked what time but then wouldn't respond. So A texted her and she suddenly remembered that she fell yesterday and can't leave the house so we need to come to her and it has to be today because she wants Christmas to be over... A is pissed and wants to ignore her and not go. But I'm the one that will get my phone blown up by her until we go. So we're going soon... A laid the ground work for not staying long, claiming mj will need to nap. He so badly wants to just cut her off, she's so toxic. But doesn't want to deal with the fallout with the rest of his family.

nam2013 just go with the flow and what gets done gets done, and what doesn't doesn't. I'd structure around the 3 zooms a week, which should be doable and go from there. With a newborn that does make it harder. For context, we have 1st grade zoom 9-11:30 and 1-3:15 for j. N has optional zooms we pay for and 4 are offered a day, we do 1-2 a day depending on who is leading it and what the topic is, and k just wanders around. We also have mh and I both working full-time, so the bar is set extremely low. I will say we were saying something about 2020 being so bad and j asked, what's wrong with 2020? So that made me feel a bit better that we haven't completely ruined their lives...yet

So E is starting to get excited about going on the potty. She just asked and went pee. I’m sure the chocolate she gets as a reward has everything to do with it.

Gray day here and working on taking down Christmas and getting organized before work starts back up tomorrow. Nothing too exciting to report, I feel kind of blah, so I should probably exercise.

We're getting shit done over here. Laundry, christmas put away, outside light fixture changed, closets cleaned, old toys to give to our cousin, new faucet put in, etc. We're supposed to meet my in laws for dinner. Finally! They're out of quarantine.

Checking in. We got all the indoor and outdoor Christmas decorations except for the front door wreath put away - I need something to bridge the wintertime that doesn't scream Christmas. Our door is a very deep red, so that impacts my decision. I just can't find anything I love.
I have also continued thinning out the boys' toys and the new bins that arrived yesterday have been filled and put away. I have SO MUCH stuff in the basement that DH is allegedly going to drop at Goodwill but I will believe it when I see it. He also keeps claiming he's going to organize the ski stuff and put it in the basement but it's been crowding my office by now since our last trip to VT, right when the initial lockdown started. In March. He knows how much clutter makes me crazy and I have been putting up with a lot since we've been home. But now that I have gotten started, he'd better get in gear or his stuff will end up in the garbage. New year, same me. Haha.

Hey! It’s been a busy few weeks. But this week I am home all week! S is back to school tomorrow 🙌. I’ve been playing around with my cricut a bunch lately and having fun with it.
I re-joined our local gym. They are doing a weight loss challenge and the winner gets $500. The only times I’ve ever been successful at weight loss has been in a competition where $$ was involved 😂. So since I’m laid off right now I figured it was a good time to jump in. I have no excuses since I’m not working. Tomorrow is when the first weigh in is. Hopefully I have some success because I’m at my heaviest ever right now.

Just got word they are taking away asynchronous Wednesdays. Ugh, Cadence is pissed. Now I don't know if she'll be able to go to the office with me each week since I go in late and she'll be in the middle of class. So annoying. I wish they would stop changing things right when we get in a groove.

Late check in today.
We made it back home late this afternoon after leaving an hour or so later than I intended. I actually unpacked some things when we got home though, so I feel like I’m winning.
I was over in the motivation thread yesterday and someone posted that peloton app has a free 2 month trial if anyone wanted to try it out. I signed up today and I think I’m going to like the workouts. I did a 5min core and 10 min body weight strength workout and liked them both. Those days I can’t get to the gym at the slow times, this will definitely help.
