Happy New Year ladies. I've been cleaning and organizing like crazy. We bought DS2 a "big boy" bed with drawers underneath, plus a bunch of shelves for my storage room and the play room. I told DH I'm gonna get everything organized exactly how I want it and then we'll immediately finally sell the house and I'll have to take it all apart again lol.
G got so messed up with the holidays. Between how busy it was in general, plus family suppers and gift openings and everything else. He was so overwhelmed and thrown off schedule. He refused to eat for a few days (only round the clock nursing), sleep was completely out the window, he was waking up like every hour, it was a mess. He had fun, don't get me wrong, but it was rough.

Hello! A few changes here. We had to lower the crib mattress because M’s been pulling up on everything. He’s also starting to get around much better. Not crawling yet, but scooching. It’s honestly really nice because he’s a lot happier playing independently now. I’m sure I’ll feel a little different when he’s getting into everything, lol. Stilllllllll up a few times every night. We got one magical 10 hour stretch a few nights ago but it turned out to be a fluke 🥱 That’s about it. I’ll include a picture I took the other day for fun

That is one cute baby wasabi Not much here. E can sit nearly alone now. I sit behind her just in case but she has it down. She is rolling more now. A super slow, controlled roll which is hilarious. She is quite the nervous little thing. Jumpy and quiet and watchful. She scared herself the first time she rolled and it took her forever to do it again. She rocks a lot. Doesn’t have any teeth yet so is still EBF. I’m enjoying how snuggly and baby like she is.

The babies will be 9 months next week which seems crazy. I just can't wait that I only have 3 more months of formula and bottles. OMG. So many bottles all the time. It will really free up space on our kitchen counter too since we have bottle racks, the baby brezza, and bottle sterilizer all out, haha.
H is very close to crawling. He crawls backwards but can't figure out forward yet, haha. They both have 3 teeth and are just the funniest babies. I am so happy with our new 2 nap schedule.

danib I’m jealous that you got to see family and do holiday things! Ben stayed on his schedule (two predictable naps now) but that’s because everything and everyone is locked down here during California’s surge. Things aren’t that bad in our immediate area, luckily. Ben is crawling some - not fast across the room yet, but enough to get to anything nearby. I’ve been lazy about solid foods and some days he doesn’t get much of them 😬 Our dog died a few weeks after Ben was born, and it’s such a mess to feed a baby with no dog to clean up the floor I love this baby age so much. He’s so interactive and sleeping great but not into everything or running away from me yet. If DH hadn’t already gotten snipped we might be in trouble!

sdlaura I felt a little bit guilty posting that actually. I'm very thankful our government did something right for a change. G finally figured out how to go forward. He doesn't "crawl" exactly, but he wiggles and pushes and squirms. He's getting fast too!

Ok, how do y’all get your babies to nap?? 😂
Now that M is pulling himself up and moving around, when I lay him down he just plays for like an hour before finally falling asleep. I guess that’s fine, it’s just annoying. Is there a trick or is this just life now? Lol.
I guess I was still rocking my older M to sleep at this age 😬

wasabi I am sorry to say that every time you describe M, he sounds exactly like how my firstborn was. His naps were TERRIBLE until about a year old. He napped ok-ish at daycare but never well at home. Around a 11 months or a year, he started consistently napping for two 1.5 hour naps. If it makes you feel any better, he then became a rockstar with the one nap around 16 months and slept for 3 hours midafternoon until he was about 3.5. He sucked at overnight sleep too until I sleep trained him with CIO at 8 or 9 months.

Every time he wakes up in the middle of the night I think I’m gonna do it but then I give in. One of these days I’ll be stronger. His naps are slowly getting longer, so at least there’s that. I guess all the playing is wearing him out more, haha

wasabi I’m a CIO fan. While Ben is mostly on a nap schedule, I can’t completely rely on it. The afternoon nap is usually good because he’s worn out, but at least a quarter of the time I put him down for the morning nap and he squirms and plays until I give up. But that’s usually the shorter nap anyway and just means he’ll sleep better later. Also, for the afternoon nap, I find he sometimes wakes up crying/unhappy and if I wait him our for a little while, he’ll go back to sleep and wake up happy later. Also lots of white noise

I should try letting him hang out for a few more minutes in the afternoon though, maybe he will go back to sleep 🤞

Hey guys, sorry I posted and ran. This has been a crazy week. I spent a lot of my free time couch shopping (which I finally decided and purchased one yesterday 🙌🏻). V is so active. She’s across the room in a second either by rolling or army crawling. She figured out how to sit up on her own before she was even steady at sitting unassisted. She’s constantly up on her knees or toes. Baby food has been going...ok. She doesn’t like bananas or sweet potatoes. She likes green beans, rusk crackers and her sippy cup. We started sleep training on Friday night. She has stayed in the crib all night, although she’s still up to eat 4ish times a night. I can tell she’s eating less though because I’m waking up a little engorged.
I got my second covid vax yesterday. I am having a not so fun reaction of fever, chills, headache and body aches. Highest my temp has been is 103. I’m hoping this just lasts for today and I wake up feeling better in the morning.

Wow trtlcrzy I'm excited for you, and hopefully you feel better asap. From what I've read elsewhere, the side effects last a day/two max. So fx thats the case.

The first shot I had side effects of a headache and nausea that only lasted a day. It seems to me that if you have a reaction the first time then you’ll likely have a stronger reaction the second time.

trtlcrzy get ready for the 8 month walker 🤣 I hope you feel better soon! wasabi I wake Ben up if he sleeps more than like 1.5 hours in the morning. I’ve done that with all my babies so they’ll take an afternoon nap - that’s always been our higher quality one and if they skip that one they’re a mess by the evening. The timing of the afternoon one varies in terms of starting between 12:30 and 2. I try to make sure there’s like 2.5 hours between naps. So if I put him down at 9:15 am and he talks to himself and doesn’t fall asleep till 9:30, I’ll wake him at 11 and put him down again at like 1:30. So while I try to use a 9 am and 1 pm guideline, it really varies by the day. Luckily I only need to think about it on weekends/holidays/vacations, since he’s at daycare during the week

Is he just taking two naps per day? Miles is pretty much down to two because he’s FINALLY taking longer naps, but if the timing is off it sucks because it messes so much with bedtime. I don’t remember naps being this complicated with my daughter, lol.

wasabi I know it’s really hard to wake them But for me at least it has usually meant more total sleep time! Yep, he’s down to two naps a day. Unless we’re not at home and decide to let him just sleep wherever.

So G has kind of gone backward with naps. He's now having 3 (shorter) naps a day. Which sucks from a schedule perspective. But he's less fussy and going to sleep easier so I've accepted it. He's also really gotten on the move lately. He's so fast, it's awesome to watch. But he's also into everything! So I need to be on my toes. Just the other day he pulled himself over the side of his bathtub trying to reach one of the older kids toys!

Sleep training is the worst. We had started making small improvements and then DH immediately gave in to her crying this weekend so now we’re back at square one. I yelled at him so hopefully he won’t make that mistake again. We got the baby gate up at the top of the stairs so I am more comfortable letting V explore. She is going to be real crawling soon, she is constantly up on her hands and knees or toes. She is pretty good at getting where she wants to be by army crawling already.

E is rolling all around and pushing up on her hands and toes but hasn’t gotten to crawling yet. Having all wood floors probably isn’t helping that. I got my first pp period so I’m currently suffering all the cramps. Sigh. It stayed away for a year with our second kid so I was hoping but oh well.

Ugh trtlcrzy that’s something my DH would do. We also got the baby gate installed again at the top of the stairs and it makes me feel better too. Radley I just had my second PP period and it was worse than the first. I’m debating getting another Mirena even though DH had a vasectomy. Ben turned 8 months on Friday and is crawling all over the house. Daycare provider has a sunken living room and he figured out how to climb up the one step and is now all over her house, too. He’s also starting to pull up. I’m good with this as long as he doesn’t start walking anytime soon He was so cute when we were home for the holiday Monday. He was doing a circuit in our bedroom where he’d go play with the door stopper and make it go ‘boing,’ then crawl over to the mirror and play peekaboo and give the baby in the mirror high fives, then go to our bathroom door and shake it so it made our shower doors bang together, then repeat. On the downside, he has eczema. Pediatrician prescribed an oil with a mild steroid on it, so hopefully that helps. He’s still sleeping well, but has been scratching a lot, especially on the back of his head. I also stuck a humidifier in his room and I hope that helps.

But yeah packing and unpacking will be me. I'll take my time with it and me and the boys will probably sleep at mom's for a few days until I get the house in a liveable condition (beds put together, dishes unpacked, etc).

Congrats danib! But I do not envy you on the doing it solo....that is... a lot. Moving sucks no matter what but sending you lots of strength to get through the chaos! Nothing crazy new here. The babies are definitely going through a phase because they have been extra clingy and whiny to me specifically lately. Just always wanting to be on my lap. It's unusual for them since they are very good at playing independently normally. I'm guessing more teeth. Fuck teething, man. It lasts for soooo long. It's not til what, 2 years old that the random fussiness stops? Ugh.
