I will be starting The Year of the Witching today or tomorrow. I set my goodreads goal to 60, I should be able to read that much since I read 100 last year.

I'm reading The Only Plane In The Sky, which compiles a bunch of different accounts of 9/11. It's really good so far.
I'm always looking for nonfiction that I can learn from, but isn't boring, and this definitely fits the bill.

I'm reading the new translation of Beowulf. It's really great so far. Just thinking about reading Beowulf in university gives me first year English shivers. I’m glad you love it.

I’m listening to The Ten Thousand Doors of January, which I grabbed at random from the library.
I am absolutely loving it so far, it’s a mix of The Secret Garden and modern magic realism.
It’s making my heart happy.

I just finished Wow, No Thank You by Samantha Irby. It was hilarious.
I started it weeks ago but read fully a third of it today so I'm counting it as my first finish of 2021. I had a really conservative goal of I think 12 books last year since work is always really taxing and only hit nine since work got exponentially more stressful starting in March. Wonder why. I used to read prolifically so I'm hoping to work back up to it.
I think I'll either do Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler or Native by Katilin Curtice next.

I set my Goodreads goal to 21 books this year. Thanks to these reading threads, I picked Verity for my first book of 2021.

This translation is in modern idioms; it’s excellent and suddenly the text makes a lot more sense. I seriously recommend trying it, I think you’ll be delighted.

Blood heir by Ilona Andrews is coming out January 12th, and I can’t wait. I think I may have another book preordered for mid January, but I’m not sure - I’ll have to look. I don’t know if it counts for this thread, but today I’m reading Ricamare Il Mare (English title: A Sea to Stitch) by Elizabeth Sforza. It’s an embroidery book with instructions in Italian and in English. I love Ilona Andrews so much. I found them and Patricia Briggs last spring, and have been working my way through all of their books since. Urban fantasy is all I read these days.

I started Anxious People and bought The Guest List.
I read 12 books last year. My goal is to double that this year. I have a shelf of books and my other goal is to read those first, after the new ones I just bought...of course!

I maxed out on my holds from the library.
I’m sighing over the 6 month wait times though.

I read 78 books last year. Not sure what my goal is yet for this year I may start out at 50.
I am reading Lock Every Door by Riley Sager. So far it’s good.
I really hope I can keep up here this year.

2018 was when I started reading again for the first time in YEARS... I started mid summer and read 21 books
2019 was 42 books with a goal of 36 - 3 books a month
2020 was 41 books with a goal of 40 - I wanted to up my goal from 2019, but knowing in November and December I had been reading less because it gets so chaotic with the holidays, I shot for 4 books a month for 10 months.
This year I set my goal for 48 books - 4 books a month for the year. That means I have to get more than 4 these first few months to make up for the busier end of the year!

I set my goal for 25 this year. Same as the last couple years.
I'm starting with Goodnight Beautiful by Aimee Molloy. My book-loving friend said it's one of her most recent favorites.

I’m going to set my goal this year at 100 but I’m really hoping to hit closer to 150. I mostly aim for 100 pages a day, so it depends on the books. I began the year by starting and finishing two books today (both self-help sort of deals, so nothing exciting.)
Now I’m on to My Dark Vanessa and The Bell Jar. I’ll probably have to read something much lighter after that.

I literally read all night last night, finishing the first Spindle Cove book by Tessa Dare. There were things I didn’t like but I really enjoyed the heroine throughout it and there were moments I laughed out loud. I’ve found that I can excuse more if a book makes me laugh out loud, especially this year. I just placed an order for all the others but they won’t be in until Wednesday and my holds came up at the library for A Promised Land, One Day in December, and In a Holidaze so I’ve got to read those all first. One nice thing the pandemic has given me is that I don’t have to worry about my book covers when I read on my lunch break! Ready to discuss spindle cove when you are! I’ve read them all.

I just added that book about The Wire to my list! I love that show (obviously lol). My first book of 2021 is The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires. I really like it so far! My final book of 2020 was A Promised Land and I need a quick read because that was so dense. I’m alternating between promised land and the bridgerton books right now. Every time it gets to be too much I swap.
