I learned to focus not on what my body looks like, but what it is capable of, and what it can do. The weight loss is nice, but it’s much nicer to look at pictures of me 45 lbs heavier and still love them, and love that girl for the choices she made that were the right choices for her at that time. I’m still technically overweight but I don’t care. I feel amazing, and I like what I see when I look in the mirror because I am strong, and I am in the best shape of my life. Inspiring quote worthy of pinning! As Christine would say #iamicaniwillido.

Happy 2021!! 🎉
I followed along in December, but was a bit embarrassed by my feeble efforts, so I didn’t join the chatter. You all are an inspiring lot!! Some days just reading about your accomplishments was enough to get my butt up and going 😊
This year is going to bring a lot of changes for our family - we are moving to a new state and DH will be gone quite a bit for the next few years (military)
My goal for the year is pretty vague: stay active and continue to improve in all areas. I would also like to put more focus on working on my overall physical, mental and emotional health.
My goal for January is to do an arms toning class after my rides (or runs, if the weather is warm enough).

2020 was my year in many ways. Sometimes during everything it was easy to get lost in the bad portion of it all. First I stopped clearing my. Plate. I’m not hungry. I just had to tell myself it was ok to not jorkzy way of looking at it. I relIe is kinda what he have been doing. I’m focusing on what I can add in not so much take away. I just want to ride 10 minutes a day. Walk the dog 2x a day for 20 minutes. I’ve started in November because food was becoming my nemesis again These are all awesome steps 🍍 🍊 Fineapple 🍍 🍊! The whole “clean plate” mentality is HARD to shake. I’m always saying - unconditional permission to eat means you eat when you’re hungry, or even if you’re not but feel like a little something, but ALSO it’s permission to say No thanks or I’m full, regardless of what’s still on your plate.

I’m in a terrible mental space and one of the only things I’m looking forward to is my time on the bike. Today I did a 30 min pop ride with Alex and then a 20 min low impact with Jess King. It felt really good.
But I do have a goal met today! I wanted to fit into my largest pair of jeans from pre pregnancy because I refused to buy bigger jeans (since I rarely ever go out of the house to require jeans anyway so it seemed wasted $). I tried them on again today and they fit! They are still tight but I’m happy about it. I have a long way to go still to get to my normal clothes size but those jeans were a milestone in getting there.

I am late (as per usual)...2020 was a very uneven year for me. I started the year really strong in terms of workout and nutrition. And then March happened. I am SO grateful I listened to everyone here and got a Peloton in July because H and I use it almost every day. It’s been a great outlet for me without OTF.
2020 was the first time where I really felt like I was an emotional eater. I’d never been an “eat/drink my feelings” person before. And it wasn’t a great feeling. So I’m resolving to be more mindful of that, and not use food (or booze) as a consolation prize for whatever I’m feeling down about.

My stomach is in rough shape again today, so another rest day for me. I am doing Selena Samuela's glutes and legs challenge to start the month off, its on her instagram with the photo of her ass if anyone wants to check it out 😂. 3 x 20 minutes glutes and legs classes a week for 3 weeks.
On new years eve we went snowmobiling and one broke down and we had to push it out(with the other snowmobile) 27km through rough trail. DH is a better driver so he was doing the pushing but that meant no power steering for me lol just steering. So my arms and shoulders feel epic hulk sore still😂. So I've been resting ever since.

Oh no cnf. Get a lot of rest and hydrate (covid sucked me dry of hydration somehow). Hopefully you’re covid-free but I know with it in your house you have a high likelihood of having it too. My youngest managed to skate free of it while three of us had it so there’s some hope.

I just did a Robin 30 min strength workout and I realized (again) how much I hate metcons and quit CF. It was a good filler workout for me before jumping back in to my regular routine but I reached a little too far with the weights and my body said “Um, no”. For sure had to go much lighter than I’m used to because this covid crap made me feel weak. It’s OK. My break was short and I didn’t lose strength but need to ease back in and that was a reminder. It’s nothing like when I got a breast augmentation and had to work my way back into lifting anything because it felt weird. Now that was a brutal length of time to wait and I did whatever I could to keep moving without using my upper body.

sakura There’s no such thing as feeble efforts! Any small positive change counts. I did an Olivia 20 min pop run and averaged 13:51 min/mile which is a PR for me. I’m not sure if I could keep that pace on a 30 minute run but I’m feeling like I can meet my goal of staying under 15 minute miles on the 30 minute runs. And while I know there are a lot of much more advanced runners here, I want to share in case there are others lurking who don’t feel like their accomplishments are good enough to share. Not once has anyone made me feel bad about where I am in my journey. This is a supportive group and we’re all at different levels!

Today was a recovery day, my body really needed it. I did a 20min recovery ride with Robin and a 5min stretch with Olivia. I’ll probably try to walk the dogs at some point today too. cnf , how are you and your family feeling? Girls seem fine. They're at each other today, so if anyone wants them they're free to a good home temporarily. Baby seems fine. H and I both feel pretty gross. Today is the first day I woke up feeling actually sick. I can't seem to shake it either. My head is killing me. I'll likely go get retested tomorrow. Oh no, I'm so sorry! One of the worst days of my entire life was last year, the weekend before Christmas, when H and I both had a killer stomach bug and the kids were totally fine (older son had passed it to us). Those 14 hours between when they woke up in the morning and I finally got them both to sleep that night were the hardest I have ever faced. I hope this is the worst it gets for you and H and that the baby remains fine!

WRT to the "clean your plate" discussion, I had come a long way with that but I've been struggling again recently. I realized it's because we've been ordering out a lot due to the holiday and all of us home all week on break from school. We grew up with very little money and one of my big contributors to being overweight is not letting food go to waste. When I cook at home I cook smaller portions or use leftovers for other meals, but when we eat out I feel like I have to finish the whole thing so that I don't eat another indulgent meal (as leftovers), or waste all of the money we spent. It's another good motivator and reminder ro myself to go back to consistent meal planning and cooking at home and leave takeout for a rarer occasion so I don't fall in this habit.

I did some deep cleaning of my kitchen and both bathrooms this morning, then did two rides on the Peloton (one was a cool down) so I had an active start to the day. My parents just took the boys for a sleepover, so I'm lounging on my couch and H and I will make a nice dinner and have some drinks later. I will then lay off of the alcohol for a while, I love the taste but hate the bloat.
I am hoping to spend some time later meal planning for the week so that I can grocery shop tomorrow morning before I have to pick them up.

45 minute marathon pace run with Becs yesterday that went really well. Today was just a 45 minute walk with Rebecca to get the dog and I some fresh air before tomorrow’s long run. I loathe January but hoping to throw myself into exercise as a distraction.

chocolatecake i just saw your tag, I think I will try for 15k minutes this year! I believe I got close to 13k this past year so I think I could do it, especially since I added in a daily stretch goal. How about you? I have no doubt that you’ll get the new 15k badge! I had a hard time trying to set a goal for 2021 because I know my Peloton (indoor miles) will add up through March but then taper as I begin outdoor miles. I ask myself, should lump them together for total miles? Set separate goals? But if I don’t have a goal then I don’t tend to work as hard. It’s all just stats and really don’t matter other than staying active/healthy. Plus, we tend to follow the weather and do whatever activity we can at the moment (right now is xc skiing).

What if you set a goal for active days? Even if you just do a 10 minute stretch or 10 minute core video on the app every day, it will still log them as active days even if you don't spin. Eta I mean do a short Peloton workout in addition to whatever other exercise you're doing.

Peloton users: do we receive an email with our yearly stats? Miles biked/ran? Minutes spent in each activity? Trying to decide if I should waste time going through past rides to determine total mileage? I can’t figure out how to see beyond 30 days on my bike screen. My google search turned up a few suggestions.

chocolatecake my mileage goal includes all cycling miles, indoor and outdoor. I track it in Garmin. This way I'm not tempted to bike inside if I want to be outside because of the numbers lol.
