First workout of the year done! I saw A LOT of us on the app today, too!
So I learned today that as much as I love Peloton cycling classes I don't love the strength. Maybe that is why I have been avoiding strength lately. I did a 45 minute one with Jess today and for the last half I wanted to quit every minute. Not because it was too hard it was just so boring. I do love the 10 minute arms and core classes and will continue to incorporate them but I think I need to find another strength program. I do best having someone tell me what to do and I need structure. I have thought about trying Madeline Moves before and may give it a go. I have dumb bells but no other equipment. Is there anything else I would need for that before I commit? Anyway after the strength class I hopped on the bike for a quick 20 minute ride and feel much more accomplished.

My H and I just had the most wonderful discussion about how I'm feeling about my body and what changes we as a family should encorporate. I told him that the hardest thing for me was as a kid, my parents very much instilled in me that certain foods were treat foods, so I learned to either sneak them when no one knew I was eating them, or when we were "allowed" them, to eat as much as possible. My H ensured me I never need to feel like that. That all foods are something I should allow myself to eat but just learning moderation. He's really the best guy ever. I like your h! ::chants:: THERE ARE NO BAD FOODS! NO BAD FOODS! He's a dream boat 🥰 he also told me be loves me at any size after I cried about how I looked in some recent pictures. I seriously don't deserve him.

Happy New Year!
I don’t remember what my 2020 goals were, and to be honest, I just don’t care. After that shitshow of a year, I’m happy we made it through it!
I turned 40 in 2020, which was a terrible year to do so, but I’m also the healthiest and in the best shape I’ve been in my life. I’m still putting together my 2021 goals, but incorporating more plant-based meals is high on the list. H would eat steak everyday if he could. I also want to improve my weights during lifting, get my muscle-ups (I’ve only managed one so far), and learn to do butterfly pull-ups. Nutrition will be another goal, I just don’t know what that goal looks like yet.
I’m excited to ring in the new year with all of you inspiring ladies! You’ve been my motivation to get out and get my workouts done even when it was the last thing I wanted to do. So thank you.

Have you tried the boot camps? I’m not a big fan of the straight strength classes either and also find them boring. But I LOVE the boot camps. You only do like 10 minutes of strength at a time, but it adds up over the workout.

I want to lose 10 lbs. I have never successfully lost weight before, and I think my IUD may have something to do with the difficulty the last few times I've tried.
My chocolate habit needs to go, that's for sure.
I started a DietBet at the end of February 2020, then COVID hit and I just didn't care about it any more before it ended,

My weights are downstairs under the bed and my bike is upstairs. I need to figure out how to keep them upstairs and then it will be easier!

Happy New Year everyone. It has been encouraging and motivating reading everyone’s goals and accomplishments. My goal for 2020 was to get lifetime membership for WW, I was so close at the beginning of summer and then basically gave up on myself. My biggest accomplishments in 2020 were running a 10k non-stop and breaking the 30 minute mark for a 5k.
I basically quit exercising and ate terribly once September hit.
My goals for 2021 are: -Get back to running a 5k in less than 30 minutes. I bought a treadmill in November and am already seeing progress, but need to cut about 10 minutes off my time. -Do more biking when the weather is nice. -Do more strength training. -Get back to diligent food tracking for WW so I can drop the 30 or so pounds I gained and hopefully get to lifetime membership. -The size medium clothes I bought over the summer are now snug, so I want to get back into those clothes. Good thing summer is a few months away. -Eat out less.
I did a 40 minute treadmill workout this morning and have tracked everything I ate, so I guess I am off to a good start.

I like your h! ::chants:: THERE ARE NO BAD FOODS! NO BAD FOODS!
In 2020 I ditched my family doctor who kept trying to get me to do keto. Maybe it works for others, but I definitely do not care for it. I've eaten in moderation all my life and I'm not about to change that, so I got a new doctor. I thought you would be proud!
Good for you! It can be hard to say no to medical “authorities” like that, but you know yourself best. Also weight loss isn’t the cure to a lot of things. Also keto is ridiculous.

I just knocked out my first workout of 2021. I did Dennis' 45 min Beatles ride. I will most definitely keep that one and Leanne's on rotation as I loved them both so much, especially the inclusion of my favorite Beatles song (by my favorite Beatle) - George Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" on Dennis' playlist. I did a 5-min post-ride stretch with Dennis afterwards. I also started the SELF Better Together Challenge as I used one of their challenges this time last year to kick start me back into a consistent fitness routine. It's a 4-week challenge with 5 days on/2 rest (or active recovery) days. I'm planning to use as more of a finisher after my main workout and like the variety of moves. Today's workout was a 4-move bodyweight strength (squats, forearm plank to dolphin, glute bridges, and bicycle crunches) and I did 5 rounds of 30 sec on/30 sec off and finishing with a 60 sec forearm plank. It took all of 17 minutes so it's very easy to squeeze it in, so those of you with very little time could check it out (via the link).

It’s helpful to have resistance bands and you can get a set on Amazon pretty cheap. I also have the mini loop bands and those are used quite a lot. She also offers modifications though, so even just with hand weights you could still do it!

My 2021 fitness goals are to keep up with the strength training. I'm going to continue with Madeline Moves workouts and also dance cardio and strength/power workouts. I love how strong I feel so that's motivation to keep up with this format rather than one driven mostly by cardio. I still plan to run 2-3 times a week. I'm going to drop my 9 Round membership which makes me sad since I've been a member since 2015 but I don't feel good about being around mask less people in a small workout space so I haven't been going. notexactly I may be headed for a pcos diagnosis as well. I have an appointment later this month but I have a lot of symptoms (AMH was slightly elevated, irregular cycles, weight gain, fluid retention). Despite working out so much and eating healthy I've gained weight and it seems to be a lot of water retention. I was diagnosed with mild hypothyroidism in late 2019 but medication hasn't made a difference win regards to weight so I'm very frustrated. It's been a drag to do so much work and get some good results working out but feeling like my effort isn't paying off as much as I think it should.

No big changes from my wellness goals for 2020. Run 2-4 miles 2-3 times/week, walk most of the other days, yoga 2-3/week, and swim with my kids when the weather is nice. Keep incorporating plant based/forward meals - my family is all in on impossible meat instead of ground beef or turkey when it’s in a sauce, so that helps, but often the meat free thing is whatever I meal prep for lunches. I will likely do some strength as well, I’ve taken ~6 months off from everything but yoga. Maybe Apple fitness? Maybe the BBM challenge that starts soon? I ended 2020 with a very slow 4 miles, and started 2021 with a beautiful 2.5 mile hike with my family!

Ok, power meter battery changed. I found the tire pump too so tomorrow I'll pump those up and work on getting all my various sensors talking to each other and my watch. I would have done more than that tonight, but I struggled pretty hard since I had to remove my back tire and take quite a bit apart then reassemble. I stink at bike maintenance too, no matter how much I practice, so I'm slow and had to bug H to help me a couple times. But I determined to be back on my bike.

Happy New Year! I had hoped to hit my WW goal weight on 2020. I got close early in the year but by the end of the year I wasn't any where close.
2021 I want to lose weight but I'm not sure how much. I want to get to the weight where I like what I see in the mirror and I'm happy about how my clothes fit. Not sure if that will be 5 lbs, 10 lbs, 1 lb. I am going to continue doing the BOD programs and try some olympic lifting with a few of my friends. I will continue my quest to make water a habit.
Today my only activity was going from the bed to the couch. I celebrated a little too much last night.

I started setting up my bike. It's on the trainer. I need to pump up my tires, they're very flat. And I couldn't get the wahoo sensor to work with Garmin even though it said it was connected. And my power meter appears to be dead, so I need to figure out how to change the battery. It's built into my rear tire hub, so it might be a bit of a challenge. My cycling shoes are also a bit too tight too. Damn DD2 caused my feet to go up half a size, just enough to cause my shoes to all fit in a really annoying way. I can manage for a while in them, but new cycling shoes will need happen eventually. Hot mess, my goodness. I need to know why setting up trainers is such a colossal pain in the rear end. If some company somewhere finds a way to streamline all of this for cyclists they will make a literal fortune.

I mentioned this in another thread, but somewhere here commented that they planned to come out of quarantine a butterfly, and I am so thankful because I really took that to heart.
2020 was the year I learned to put myself, my health, and my body before anything else. I finally figured that I can’t truly take care of everyone else if I don’t take care of myself first.
I rode over 2000 miles, and I lost 45 pounds. I also finally figured out that I need to love myself as I am, no matter what I look like, and make changes and adjustments and improvements from a place of love.
I learned to focus not on what my body looks like, but what it is capable of, and what it can do.
The weight loss is nice, but it’s much nicer to look at pictures of me 45 lbs heavier and still love them, and love that girl for the choices she made that were the right choices for her at that time.
I started a women’s cycling community where women support one another, hold one another accountable, and build each other up. I have a women’s cycling website, I write articles for female cyclists, and I was even interviewed for a women’s cycling podcast.
I’m still technically overweight but I don’t care. I feel amazing, and I like what I see when I look in the mirror because I am strong, and I am in the best shape of my life.
I’m sorry, this is super braggy, but I just can’t hold in how good it feels to truly be at peace with myself just as I am. I look back on all of the years I spend doubting myself in so many ways and am just so proud that I will never do that again.
For 2021 I want to ride 2500-3000 miles. I want to complete my first century (100 miles) and I want to do it solo to prove to myself that I can do it on my own. I want to continue to help other women get into cycling and use it to be more fit and happy from a place of love for what their body can do. I will continue to make small changes that add up to big results, and still have sugar in my tea and eat cookies.
For January I plan to ride 350 miles. I’m running a cycling challenge and I want to show up in it for myself and for everyone in the group. I need 300/month or so to hit my goal, so I want to get a little jump on it. I also want to make healthier food choices than I did in December and add more fruits and veggies to every meal.
