I think my 2020 goal was to run that NYC half marathon in April that obviously didn’t happen. And then I just... stopped running. I need a goal or I don’t do it.
This year, I’d like to be more consistent with intentional exercise. Like, I’m good with walks and skating and sledding with the kids and whatnot but I’d like to do more. Partly for endurance/strength, partly to do something by myself. I’m hoping a 5 or 10k is available by end of summer or early fall. Maybe my gym will be allowed to open again and I can go after vaccinations are more widespread.
I’d also like to try a new recipe every week or 2. This week I’m going to try a beef stir fry with bokchoy and mushrooms.

Of course I can’t do anything, exercise-wise until end of February because of my surgery (that’ll be 3 months) but I can think about it and plan!

I will come back with goals later, but I just finished the virtual 5K. Considering that I ate garbage, drank, and slept like shit last night, I did really well! I’m so amazed that just one year ago I couldn’t jog for more than a few minutes and now I can run 3 miles like it’s (almost) nothing. While I didn’t set any PRs for time, I noticed my avg heart rate continues to get lower despite the time staying fairly consistent. I love feeling strong and like I’m getting fitter even when my body doesn’t always “show” it (by look or weight). [\spoiler]

I'm going to try for 1,000 miles again but I've missed it two years in a row. No workout today, it is a rest day, so I guess I'm not starting the year well. I'm in a funk anyway.

I fell hard off the fitness wagon last year. I am planning to do birthday squats for my 40th birthday (next month) and have been training for that. Otherwise, I am just trying to get back to exercising pretty regularly because it makes me feel better.

2020 was rough for me health wise. I ate whatever I wanted, quit OTF, and drank way to much wine due to stress from work and attempting to home school 3 kids.
I told my family that 2021 needs to be a year that we all put health first. We are working together to plan healthier meals and my twin girls have said they'll make sure that each day I get some excercise in, either with taking walks together or doing a beachbody workout, since we have on demand.
We also signed up for the April Star Wars Rival Run 5K race virtually through RunDisney. It'll be good motivation and something fun for us all to do.
Overall though, I just need to stop snacking. I can't control myself with cookies or chips or whatever. And basically I spent most of last year making treats when I felt anxious about covid. I need a better outlet. I don't know what that is yet, but at least I recognize I need to stop the emotional eating.

I was just coming here to look for ideas on exactly this. I need to do this as well. For my back, I’ve had the most success with Pilates based physical therapy. I think Pilates in general offers the same benefits (when I was healthy enough, I primarily did reformer classes, but I did some mat based Pilates) but I don’t know that it’s something you can easily do at home without someone watching and making sure you’re activating the right muscles. Yes, my back weakness really comes to my attention when I do pilates lol

Just saw on IG that the peloton app is free for 2 months for those who haven’t done a free trial. Come check out the dark side!

Yes, my back weakness really comes to my attention when I do pilates lol I loved reformer Pilates. That surprised me, because I’ve never been athletic, and the only exercise I’d ever enjoyed was swimming laps. I’ve always blamed my dislike of exercise on the fact that I’m not only not good at it, it hurts, and I’ve had to do physical therapy a minimum of 5 days a week every week since I was 10 - it has never been optional, if that makes sense. If I don’t do enough physical therapy, I stop being able to walk and hold things. That’s very strong incentive to make sure I’m compliant, but it’s not helpful with enjoying it. I’ll probably never be healthy enough to get back to it, but I really did love reformer Pilates.

Happy 2021! It has been awesome joining you motivating people these last few months
Goals: - adding in Yoga: starting with the Yoga with Adriene 30 day challenge today - no wine during the week nights - increase my strength training: I haven’t been great about doing much more than 10 min arms toning after a ride lately, so I’d like to add in some longer strength classes and/or boot camps - keep the momentum of 6 Peloton rides per week - clean up my diet - lose 15 lbs

Happy new year! I don’t remember if I had fitness goals for last year but it turned out to be a pretty good fitness year for me. I got my rower at the end of January and for the first time ever I’ve been consistently working out weekly since then. I also started lifting weights which I’ve never done before and love that, so much so that we invested in a weights rack in November. As a family we’ve been way more active too with snow shoeing, biking, and hiking.
For 2021 I’ve got 3 goals: Bring my resting heart rate back down into the 50s Be able to do 5 real push ups Be able to do 1 pull up

I have an appointment today for new running shoes! I’m going to the fancy store to get fitted. My current most comfortable pair literally have holes in them so it is definitely time. I also got fleece lined leggings for Christmas that fit like a glove, so I’m excited to join all of the cold weather runners this month.

Happy New Year!
I need to get back on track 2020 was not great for me. My weight is up a few pounds and I haven’t been working out much and my eating has been garbage, too many rich foods in December.
I am signed up for 2 half Ironman races and I think I have a half marathon scheduled in March. It was one that I was supposed to run last year but it was cancelled. Maybe it will happen, maybe not. Time to start training, clean up my eating and get back to where I was a year ago. 2020 wrapped up with 125,000 yards in the pool (400,000 is where I was the prior 2 years), 725 running miles and 1,800 miles on the bike. I also did very little in terms of strength training and yoga.
It is sleeting here today so no outdoor running but maybe I can hop on the bike while H is watching football. Going to my mom’s where the weather is nicer tomorrow and will run every day this week with maybe 1 day off. Can’t wait!

My goals for the year are aesthetics. I want to shed some of this fat and gain more muscle. I have a routine I like already and am one month into a cut so I’m well on my way.

Hi! I’m going to try to participate more in this thread. I’m newish around these parts but a long time lurker. I’m a fairly normal person. I used to be a hardcore runner and marathoner but that fell apart after I had my first baby, who just turned 6. Since then, I have always been active in the sense of mostly consistent exercise but now that my youngest is 3, I’d like to get back to it. My goal is to run a full marathon in 2022. I am in a medium sized body but I’d love to drop 15-20 to get to where I feel really good for myself. 5 of those lbs are just since before the holidays so I am hoping those are more bloat and will disappear pretty quickly. I run outdoors, use my spin bike with Peloton app, and Beachbody videos (I don’t buy into the full programs and shakes but I do love the video streaming). Now that I have a full exercise room set up since the pandemic started, I find that I’m not missing the gym at all. I am loving working out at home more than I ever thought I would so I think this is it for me.
TL;DR Hi, I’m new here!

I did not have any goals in 2020. The year started with me having a hysterectomy, both H and I getting laid off, homeschooling two kids, and starting brand-new jobs completely remotely.
We got a Peloton bike in April, which I have ridden every single day since. That didn't start out being a goal, but it has made me really happy. I haven't lost any weight, but I feel stronger and my body looks different. I hit 10k minutes in the Peloton app on the 30th, which I think is pretty good for having the bike 8 months.
My January goal is to eat salads or other veggie-based meals at least twice a week, cut down on sugar (that won't be hard, December is unusual in terms of just having cookies sitting out everywhere), and limit myself to one glass of wine of an evening, instead of two, which has become a bad habit.
Fitness goal is to keep up the cardio streak, continue doing a handful of yoga classes per week, and add more strength/weight training to my repertoire.
This thread has been hugely motivational, you guys are all incredible and I appreciate you!

Mu goals last year were mainly to have healthy babies and then lose the baby weight. My recovery from birth was much longer and harder than I expected and it took a while for me to really get going again. It wasn’t until fall that I really picked up the pace. I’m in a great groove now. I hope that by summer I am back to my pre pregnancy size. I’m not super focused on the number on the scale at all. I just want to be strong and healthy and continue to build muscle as I slim back down.
Today I did Sams 30 min recovery ride plus Cody’s 5 min cool down. It was my first Sam ride. I totally get what has been said here about his awkward whisper singing lol. I needed the recovery ride though. It was a tough night of sleep.
Back to hard work tomorrow!

I went on a few bike rides with my little one this week (no one is around my neighborhood on weekdays) and was so winded quickly. Yesterday was the first day I didn’t have that issue.

Yay budders! Thanks for supporting the 5k! I got my run in today as a Marshall for MH’s race. I ran from the start to the turn around (with two orange cones, lol) and then back when everyone had made it through the turn around. It was so fun! When I got home I did a 20 minute beginners ride with Robin and a 5 minute ab workout. Good workout day in the books!

ETA: I had a very successful 2020. While I had my moments of struggle and I wasn’t always making the best choices, I was mostly consistent and really increased my physical activity and tried a lot of new things. I gained a lot of self-confidence and comfort with my body that I never thought I would. Hoping to keep that going in 2021.
My goal this year is to generally stay active and increase my physical strength and endurance. I’d like to lose another 20-30 lbs, but really I just want some areas to be flatter and more defined. So if I accomplish that through building muscle/toning and don’t see any weight loss, that works for me.
Some specific goals: -Build in more strength training. I trend toward cardio but need more balance. -Run an in-person race -Run a 5K in under 30 minutes -Get to 500 Peloton rides. That’s 249 more, which may be ambitious given my other goals, but I think I can get there.

Happy new year! Hoping to jump back in this month.
2020 was ok over all. My weight was up and down but overall down. I struggled with at home workouts. In summer I got my shit together again, and then slacked a bit with school starting in the fall. But I did get over 270 boot camps in! Also maybe 40 runs and some bike rides too. Not bad!
2021 goals: manage time better with school/work/family. Stick with my macros. Add to our family??
My gym was closed today so I did an at home workout. 30 minute bike boot camp with Cody, and 15 minute body weight strength with Jess. I liked them both! I’m just not used to someone telling me I am a “fierce queen” and to make “sexy” transitions during my workout. I’m more used to the trainer saying “standing there breathing heavy doesn’t count as active recovery” LOL

Oh, now there's another person in my age and weight class from my state in my meet. Oh hell no. Get 'er, GM! From what I was able to get from someone else, it's going to be close. So that should make for an interesting meet at least. It won't change any of what I am doing. Just good motivation to not fuck up what we have going.

I started setting up my bike. It's on the trainer. I need to pump up my tires, they're very flat. And I couldn't get the wahoo sensor to work with Garmin even though it said it was connected. And my power meter appears to be dead, so I need to figure out how to change the battery. It's built into my rear tire hub, so it might be a bit of a challenge. My cycling shoes are also a bit too tight too. Damn DD2 caused my feet to go up half a size, just enough to cause my shoes to all fit in a really annoying way. I can manage for a while in them, but new cycling shoes will need happen eventually. Hot mess, my goodness.

It should be perfect for that. It’s a lot of flat road and slower cadence (60-80 for a majority of the ride) and a few super mild hills. Nothing over 45 as the highest resistance.
