I really like these. I have 1/4 to 1/2 of one at a time. They actually have THC in them, but it's the Delta 8 strain (not Delta 9), which I guess is a legal gray area right now. It does have psychoactive effects, but much less than regular weed. There's no paranoia or anxiety for me, and just a mellow, relaxing feeling. So I bought a bottle of these to try, and completely forgot the recommendation to try 1/4 to 1/2 at first to see how it goes. I just popped the whole one in last night because the bottle said take 1, and OMG. I’ve never actually had the delta 9/“real” weed before, and despite this being delta 8, I was not prepared. I feel fine today but my god last night I was feeling almost too mellow, despite being super anxious I was feeling like that. So now I know and I will maybe try 1/4 of it the next time I’m brave enough 😂😂😂 I used to smoke a lot and these were very potent for me. I take about 1/4 of one. SO tried a whole one and he was hilarious. Had serious munchies and dry mouth, thought that I reset his timer on the microwave to mess with him, etc. I was laughing so hard. He said he had a "weed hangover" the next day. 😂

Still in with my scheduled breaks! I should be able to pull out the rest of the month easy peasy. 😊

I'm still here, hanging out with my sparkling waters. I opened up to Sil about giving up booze, maybe overshared but whatevs.

So after drinking prosecco and white wine on my birthday, I didn’t have a noticeable hangover but I had the following:
I was anxious. I slept poorly, like I couldn’t get a true deep sleep, for two days! My skin was instantly rougher, with dry patches on my chin. My ears felt full and watery (this is something I’ve noticed for years. It might be only me but I had weirdly sensitive ears/sinuses) I had random headaches the following evening. My stomach was super bloated
When this month ends this week, really track how drinking makes you feel. This isn’t a moral judgement at all. I’m simply surprised at how much my body reacted to what would have been a pretty regular “one off” night of drinking.

After drinking for the inauguration (which was planned), I got through the weekend and didn’t have anything. More important was I didn’t want anything.
I have a question - do we want to have any sort of post after January is over? I know everyone isn’t going to be totally dry (and that’s the plan for many even me), but the overall support in this post is helpful.

I don’t plan to be totally dry post-Jan, but I definitely appreciate the support and reminder of ways to unwind without alcohol. I also like hearing people’s mocktail recipes and NA beverage reviews! Related to the latter, I was drinking apple chai kombucha from Pilot over the weekend. So delicious!

I would like a monthly thread if anyone is interested. Like February Alcohol Reduction, and so on. Or Mindful Drinking.

It really is amazing to see the effects alcohol has on your body. When you drink regularly it's easy to miss. So far I'm sleeping better, I'm less irritable, and my skin has finally calmed down. I didn't even break out right before AF like I normally do. I'm also eating less.

I felt okay the next day but it felt like more of an emotional hangover since I was so confused why I felt that way 😂

I think I’m actually full blown allergic to it, but never put two and two together that my terrible allergies might be linked to my weekly wine consumption. And that they were always at their worst the day or two after drinking it. Crazy.

I haven’t checked in lately, but I’m 29 days alcohol free! I am feeling so great that I’ve had zero desire to drink. I love the idea of a monthly check in too.
Here are the changes I’ve noticed:
-decreased anxiety -increased energy -decreased sinus/allergy stuff -8lb weight loss since Jan 1st 😱 -much less bloating -just generally being more engaged with life and my family instead of having buzzy/fuzzy memories of the weekends
I always slept pretty well, but I’m sure my sleep is also improved in ways I don’t realize.

Good to hear about everyone’s positive changes — I wish I could say my snacking has decreased, but that has not taken place. But I am a lot less puffy and have a lot more energy. My sleep is also getting much better. I’m afraid of the scale, due to said snacking, but I don’t think I’ve gained anything so may try at the end of the month. As I wasn’t a huge drinker I don’t think it’s been a big calorie deficit.
I think it would be great to continue this next month even if I am drinking a bit then.. I don’t know if I would have followed thru if I hadn’t committed here, as I was a bit on the fence. So I am quite grateful.

I would like to see a monthly thread. I follow a lot of alcohol free accounts on IG but this thread has been nice because it’s interactive and it’s nice to have conversations about reducing or eliminating alcohol.
I like seeing how everyone is feeling. Mocktail recipes are fun to read.
I’m proud of everyone! Seems like everyone is feeling good.

Today is day 28. I had 1 glass of wine and 1 glass of champagne on my anniversary on the 10th and it was nbd. I can’t believe this. I’m in total shock that it has been this easy. And that I feel this good. I have a history of disordered eating so I am scale averse these days. And I won’t say that my pants fit any better, but my stomach is definitely flatter. Not sure of that is lack of bloat or lost weight. But either way it feels good. I was definitely using alcohol as a way to avoid attempting to cope. I wasn’t even trying to cope with life. I was just using alcohol to say hey I can’t cope so I won’t try so imma drink cause I can’t cope. But now without having alcohol as that option in my mind, I’m choosing to try to cope first. Like a normal human. I’m still worried about how to move forward from here. One day at a time I guess.
ETA: and add me to the list with better sleep. It’s a little harder to fall asleep when I’m not passing out lol. But I’m sleeping better and don’t wake up MOTN in a panic.

I've discovered another side effect of my decreased drinking. I have less amazon packages arriving. Instead I am not adding things to the cart and then going to buy at a pre-determined time all at once versus impulse buying.

tj, the MOTN anxiety spiral is the worst. I definitely remind myself of that when I start thinking I want a drink.

Congratulations to everyone who has reached milestones or realizations about drinking!
Today is day 29 for me. 2 days to go! I get my second moderna vaccine on Monday 2/1 so I likely won’t feel like drinking. Then it’s my birthday Friday 2/5- probably will have a drink then but honestly I’m more excited about ordering delivery and making a cake to indulge in.

Yay everyone!! Almost there!
As an update, the low scale was a fluke. I'm about the same because I'm just eating my calories 🤣 next month I won't be dry, but I won't overindulge and I'm going to add in 3-4 workouts a week.
Was a monthly check-in discussed already?
