Alex Padilla went to my high school. ]I do like that heās a local to my city. I think thatās important too. The senate reps have felt very nor cal heavy for a long time. I know Kamala was good about repping LA, but...it will be good to have a true So Cal voice. Agreed. Plus heās from the city with highest or second highest Covid spread in LA. Lots of poor communities are struggling hard right now. I know heās been a several schools here helping distribute meals to families and what not. Weāll see. As an aside, I really liked Kevin de Leon when he was running against Dianne. She needs to go. Iām not happy with her since her stock trade stuff at the beginning of the pandemic. I know those cases were closed, but I still side eye her since then.

I voted for her and I want to kick her out. I appreciate all she has done, but I feel she made a mistake by running in 2018. I hope her family or staff convinces her to end on a note (canāt say itās really high right now).

(Not their goals, just their tactics) Some of the stuff she was saying to them was not wrong it was just a weird āget off my lawnā tone. Also her inability to manage her frustration with the whole thing could have been an early sign of mental decline.

I just hated the stifling of the youthful enthusiasm and civic engagement. š£

This is a good take re: CA Senate (and the kind of snark I like):
And this but Iām not āunhappyā. I think itās important and long overdue for us to have our first Latino Senator.

Bottom line, I hate that progress for one group comes at what feels like the expense of another group. This is why we canāt give in to tokenism. Itās not enough to just have one representative from each group and call it good. True diversity is when itās so embedded and woven in that one or two people wonāt make it disappear.
Anyways, Senator Harris is happy so Iām with her.

Mitch thinks this bill is adequate. That really says it all. He's such a fucking fucker. I hope his penis falls off and he slips on it like a banana peel and hits his head.

I'm so so thrilled that the ed sec will be an educator again. And a trauma informed one that believes in AB/AR and representation in social studies curriculum.

Pdq I am āfriendsā with a wife of one of the people who was pardoned today.
Slightly more than acquaintances, slightly less than friends. Lol
Anyways. Her husband was one of the 4 Blackwater contractors convicted for killing 14 Iraqi civilians in Nisour Square. She and the other family members have been lobbying for this pardon for years.
Anyways. Iām conflicted. She is sweet and has a darling little daughter who is SO excited to have her daddy home. But......the stuff I have read about the massacre makes my stomach turn. So many people needlessly died that day.

I'm sorry Rebel. It's awful that his family is missing him and they have my sympathy but what he (and the others) did was completely unconscionable. He should not have been pardoned.

I agree with you. I hate that his wife and daughter were collateral damage. But omg those 4 men deserve to be in prison.
