It's been a few weeks. How is everybody doing? Are your kiddos getting excited for Christmas?

I start a new job today. Same workplace, different department. It’s a promotion with some opportunity. I was with my other department for nine years, so going from an expert in one department to the newbie in another is going to be interesting.
My 6 year old is very excited for Christmas. We also have the elf on the self this year, which she is loving.
DD2 does not understand Christmas yet but loves to try and take the ornaments off the tree :-D.
Thanks for posting! Hope you all are having a nice holiday season.

kam3100 congrats on the new job! Was this one that would not require you to travel as much or am I thinking of someone else? We have our Elf again this year. He even brought a slime advent calendar. (2020 makes me do crazy things. Haha) But DD is 8, and still seems to believe. DD2 has done pretty well with the ornaments. She loves when the tree is on. She will look at it and say "oh, pretty kissmas tree"

When the pandemic hit of the of the assistance programs in the families first coronavirus act became a thing in my department. Because of my expertise I took lead on the project and was basically left hung to dry. It was the most stressful time of my life. They renewed the assistance program in September and I jokingly told a coworker in another department that I’m gonna find a another job. Well he was getting ready to post a job that was literally the same thing I do. So, I applied and here we are. My oldest job didn’t counter offer or anything so I know I made the right decision. But, they are up the creek without a paddle now!

We've been in quarantine since 12/1 after exposure to COVID at daycare. DS3 ended up testing positive last week and it's spread to DH and me. We had DD tested again this morning so we should know the results tomorrow. We're keeping the kids home again next week even though the provider is opening her doors on Monday. Thankfully all symptoms have been mild. No fevers or coughs, just fatigue and a few sniffles and sneezes. We almost didn't get tested because neither boy exposed was showing obvious signs of illness. So glad we were able to contain the spread to just our household (not that we go anywhere or see anyone anyway).
DS1 is the only one to mention being excited for Christmas. I hope he's not disappointed with having to stay home. We're doing salt dough ornaments and baking Christmas treats for the first time. We'd like to drive around and look at Christmas lights but it's not wise for all six of us to cram into one vehicle right now. FX it's safe to do so in a week and the weather cooperates.
