Bookshelves please hold me. I was happy to get rid of Hill, but now I’m back to hating it here. I am old enough to remember him the first time he was in the statehouse, and he was just as bad then. So disgusted that we went from Groper General to this asshole.

Mo Brooks is on CSPAN spewing bullshit about the election being a fraud and counting MILLIOMS of ballets as fraud. Also he is blaming it all on "Illegal Aliens" and the Justice department not doing what they can to ban illegal Aliens from voting.
He is also saying the Judicial System has no say in the election. He says the congress does. You know that thing that they have the majority in?
I feel like I am taking crazy pills.

He is also disqualifying early voting and saying you can only vote 24 hours on election day. Every other vote is null and void

Mo Brooks is also saying that the original 13 colonies when they created the US put the electoral college together because it had to protect the colonies because each one was their own "individual country".
WHY IS HE STILL IN OFFICE?!??!?

Texan checking in here. Paxton belongs in jail. He is looking for a pardon and/or distraction from his own crap.

WHY IS HE STILL IN OFFICE?!??!? Because there are people who would vote for an actual mold spore if it was on a ballot as a Republican

Biden tapped Rep Marcia Fudge for HUD. I didn't want a lot of pulling from the Hill but I fully support this nomination. She's awesome. I wanted her for Ag Secretary because I think she would've been amazing for food security issues. I'm a little harrumph about it going to a dude from IA because it doesn't seem like any kind of pivot. At least it wasn't Collin Peterson I guess. So, I am going to just defend Vilsack for a minute here. As much as I liked some other options there are a few pretty important facts to keep in mind about the "dude from IA" 1) He is heavily disliked by factory farms, which is actually a good thing 2) He and his staff were integral to the enactment of the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act, which was a really important piece of legislation 3) Joni Ernst does not support him (although Grassley does) 4) He has 8 years of experience in this position. And I think this is really key right now. There are A LOT of areas that need vast improvement right away and need fresh leadership to make it happen. That means there needs to be areas that can run smoothly, basically on their own, from day one. I see USDA as one of these areas. His experience will allow for this. I don't know that there needs to be a large pivot at USDA. I need to specify that these are my own opinions and do not represent the views of my employer. Lol. I don't know that everyone at my organization nor the folks we represent agree with me, as most of them have different political leanings.

I'm really sick of these anti Warnock and Ossoff ads. They're all aimed at middle class (& low-key racist) white woman fears.

I also think having someone from a major agricultural state is good optics as well.

One hand - it sends a clear statement, as when the Business and Manufacturing Councils were resigning left and right and Trump pretended he dissolved the the councils. The majority of the large business community did take note when this happened, IMO. Hmm....just wondering if/when Biden will reinstate the Councils. But, the Councils, while having a long existence, were largely advisory. I guess my question is whether Mr. Filipkowski would have been more valuable continuing to 'fight the good fight' and sticking around to make sure his voice was heard, or if this was the best step. I just don't know enough about that role, I guess.

But on the other, it's an opening for DeSantis to put a crony in his place. I'm not certain how it works in FL, but in the states I've practiced in - the nominating commissions act as gatekeepers. They take all the applications, review them, and then send a set number of names forward to the governor for nomination. So if that's the case in FL, it's an important position and not merely ceremonial.

I guess I assume when someone resigns like this it’s because they can’t do anything about the fuckery going on and the most they can do is bring attention to it. I don’t know much about this particular entity though.

Well, maybe Melania is planning several exit strategies. I thought this article was equally kind of interesting re First Lady WH transitions, and annoying. For the record, I have Ikea 365 everyday china in plain old white, and a Mikasa set of 'nice' china' that I got on sale when Mikasa had an outlet near me. LOL www.cnn.com/2020/12/09/politics/melania-trump-future/index.htmlHmm, Ikea Swedish meatballs - another shopping/eating trip I'm looking forward to doing in 2021, I hope!

We will need someone feeding starving Americans on day one. Not someone who needs to learn the job first. Also it will be hard for the Senate to refuse to confirm him if he's already been confirmed by that body once before.

Maybe they are worried that the case will be thrown out on the grounds that Texas lacks standing, and so they need an "injured" party.

Virginia contingent, are we talking about Terry McAuliffe? Idk how I’m supposed to feel about this I'm not thrilled about this at all. Aside from not really liking him, I also don't think he is what VA needs right now. And with black women like Jennifer Carrol Foy running it seems so tone deaf.
