Hey guys. Apologize if this is long. Someone tag me so I don’t forget to check in here. I get the worst forum add and start strong and then disappear. I’m still on pelvic rest. Boo. 24 weeks today. But I’ll find out if baby girl’s placenta is still on my cervix on Friday at my MFM appointment. I’m going to wait until after the Christmas holidays to start buying baby stuff and setting everything up. I’ve been procrastinating and lazy. I actually barely barely failed my 3hr test. Don’t recall my numbers. So I’ve been testing 4x a day. so far everything is within range and my OB thinks I got myself worked up and that’s why my numbers failed first time around. But she wants me to keep checking - which is fine. As I near my third trimester I can probably see my fasting stuff going bonkers and might need insulin. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but they seem okay now. They’ve been checking my bile acids too because of my liver autoimmune stuff. Basically I take Urso to keep my autoimmune in check. But it’s what ladies with cholestasis take to control their bile acid numbers. Last I saw, my numbers were good and no need to worry. Plus I have no itching. But they are going to test me every month just to make sure. Also I just checked my Kaiser porta tbjng and my liver and thyroid panel is within range and perfect. So yay!!! Ive actually haven’t gained a ton of weight, but they aren’t worried because babies are growing so thumbs up for that. Hey guys!!! Hey, you! Fx baby's placenta has scooted over a bit on Friday! If you end up needing insulin, I never found it to be too bad. If you've ever taken Ovidrel, it's basically that kinda shot. Also, I'm expecting to be on that bandwagon, too, so good company and all. 😂

Rama Thanks love. I took insulin with C so I’m familiar. Also with ovidrel - which I did use. Yay needles! Lol I’m not bummed out about it though. I found I had more leeway with food when I finally was on insulin. I also felt like the pressure of managing my numbers with diet and exercise went away when I started insulin. It was a huge relief and honestly such an easy way to control that. I really think it gets a bad stigma when in reality it’s such a help and mind relief.

Once I got on it, it was such a load off. It made the GD feel like less my fault because I literally could not keep up. (Stupid food shaming culture. 😒 I'd literally eat a 0 carb meal and still be over for the draw and it made me feel like I was failing until I got on insulin.)

Plus we need carbs and being carb free and having perfect numbers isn’t where it’s at either. I’m in a Facebook GD group and some of the comments stem from all the stigma and the need to control something that sometimes can’t be controlled. I mostly lurk, but I wish people would just embrace it. It honestly feels like a huge weight is lifted and you finally stop fighting your own body. Plus, stress free pregnancy is the best.

Yesssssssssss, all of that. Talking to the dietician and finding the right amount of insulin for me was the best thing ever. I was dealing with this while my SIL was dieting (she lived with us at the time) and we got to swap recipes and encourage each other not to go overboard in either direction with all kinds of stuff. I still watch carb portions now, but less in a self-judgey way and more of an awareness thing. It was an awesome diagnosis, in hindsight.

Anyone have names yet? We settled on one this weekend. Camp.bell Gra.hame after H’s great uncle and father *pdq, may poof. I love it! My older son is Graham. We do have a name but I've vowed not to tell a soul until he arrives.

pbandj714 oh gosh, I’m sorry for the troubles! I’d be super anxious too. Tell that placenta to act right.

I had my MFM appointment. Everything looked good. Babies are measuring on track. Baby boy is 1lb 11 oz already. Baby girl is 1lb 7.
My placenta previa has been resolved!!! Woohoo! Still can’t overdo it but at least the bleeding scares seem to be gone for now.
We discussed that when I see her next month she will put a recommendation for delivery for the OB. We are shooting for repeat csection. Do not want to be induced. Just take the babies out. Lol She says if I keep with my boring pregnancy, she is looking at 37-38 weeks csection. Really depends on how my bile acids are doing. If they get too high - she doubts that - she is looking at 36 week delivery. Cervix is still long and closed.
I got 3D pictures of the babies and they already look so chubby and cute. 🥰

Rama I usually pack a bag closer to 37-38 weeks (I’ve had 3 deliveries at 39 weeks, and a lot of the things I bring get used all the time so I cut it close). Comfy pants, nursing tops/pads, charging cables for devices, essential toiletries, a few? outfits for baby... I also took my boppy pillow last time and it was super nice to have when nursing (and also for me to sleep with). And makeup to feel more human! but that wouldn’t be for anyone but myself since there’s no visitors nowadays.

I'll be 32w on Monday, so my brain is going a mile a minute about everything. 😅 My biggest concern, I think, is whether I should pack enough stuff for both me and H to not leave the room because I'm scared he won't be allowed back in if he leaves. Stupid Covid. 😫

So, checking my glucose levels the past couple days is making me even more suspicious of my diagnosis. I've had nearly hypoglycemic levels (like low 70s, threshold for hypo is anything under 70) more often than I'd like while following the diet. Today when I woke up after being SUPER BAD and eating an honestly obscene amount of candy (look, my secret santa got me 7lbs of sugar, I had to test it a little 😂) before bed, I was only at 73. With GD during my last pregnancy, I'd struggle to stay below 95, even with insulin. So this is pretty different.
I have an appt with the dietician/nutritionist tomorrow, so I'll bring it up with them and again with my OB after Christmas, if the numbers don't improve. Why do I have to have this weird anomalous body, ffs. 😭

Hi everyone! Sorry to hear so many of you are on the GD train! I was supposed to have my 3 hour test on Thursday, but we had a ton of snow and it got moved to today so we'll see. I got tacos and beans and rice on my way home from my appointment and I had two pieces of chocolate and when I checked my number it was not bad at all, so I'm confused.
We haven't fully settled on a name and probably won't until she's born, but we really like Madelyn or Lilly right now. After the new year I'll be in the third trimester and I guess it will really be time to buy baby stuff and get ready! It's going so fast!

strawberrykiki I hope your 3hr goes well! If not, hey, we can all share some recipes. 😂 Talked to the nutritionist today and with my numbers doing what they're doing, she just wants me to eat as normal (so not the same strict GD diet I was on last time) and she'll check back in with me in a couple weeks. I feel comfortable with this. I'll still being up the possibility of nixxing the dx with my OB next week, but literally only to get the compounded high risk label off the pregnancy (I have chronic HBP, too). I still plan to test my glucose levels until birth, for just in case/burning curiosity.

I failed my three hour test. I mean realistically I knew I would, but I'm still crying. Maybe it's preggo hormones. My midwife has been so supportive of my VBAC and I'm just really upset to think I might end up with another csection because of the things that come along with a GD diagnosis. If I end up needing medicine I'm not sure she can even see me anymore, I'll have to see an OB.

But if you do, I really hope you find a VBAC-positive OB to help you reach your birthing goals. If you can't maintain care with the midwife, maybe she can suggest someone that has a good VBAC record? I'm also still hoping you can at maybe double up and see your MW while you see an OB. 🤞🏼
