Hi everyone. I'm so sorry for your losses.
I'm very sad to intro here, and I know y'all were too.
H and I were TTC for 18 months, I think 13ish cycles (but I'd have to go back and count to be sure). We had 3 cancelled TI cycles with Femara. We actually conceived on our third cancelled TI attempt. My initial beta was very low at 13. Two days later, it dropped to 11. I was told that it was a CP and that I would miscarry. To make a long story shorter, I had a repeat beta done 3 days later, and it was 117. My betas were doubling appropriately from there. Last Friday, my beta only went up 60% to 869. My US that day revealed a small gestational sac high up in the left side of my uterus.
Now my betas have dropped 200 points and risen 100 points. My RE is calling this an "abnormal rise of HCG" and wants to give me Methotrexate. I am having another scan tomorrow early afternoon. I am also having another beta drawn tomorrow morning. They're not saying this is or isn't ectopic. The nurse said that because the gestational sac is so high up and near my left tube, that they don't want to risk damaging my tube, which is why they want me to get Methotrexate.
Has anyone had Methotrexate? How long did it take for you to start bleeding and then complete the miscarriage? What side effects did you have? Any other advice? Thanks!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've never had to have methotrexate, but I know many of the ladies here have.

I can't help with the question as I used misoprostol, not methotrexate, but I wanted to send thoughts and many hugs your way. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry that you're going through this.
I was given a shot of methotrexate a few years ago for an ectopic pregnancy (unknown location). I had to go back for blood work every few days to make sure I didn't need a second shot and then to follow my betas down.
We weren't allowed to try again for 3 months since methotrexate is a chemo drug and they want to make sure it's out of your body.
I didn't have any side effects and for me, it was a relief to finally stop the rollercoaster of betas going up and down.
Good luck!

Thank you mleep. I definitely agree that I feel relieved to have the roller coaster over. It makes me feel better to know I'm not crazy for feeling that way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had an ectopic pregnancy in February, and was given a methotrexate injection to resolve it. Similarly to mleep, I had bloodwork to check my betas and make sure they were dropping and I didn't need the second shot, and they followed them down to zero. The bleeding lasted for about a week and was like a heavy period, and my betas had dropped by the time the bleeding stopped, as well. I had no side effects, but we did have to wait 3 months before TTC again. I hope everything goes as smoothly as possible for you, and I'm sorry again.

Thank you for sharing katietopaz! I'm so sorry for your loss. My beta on Friday was 644, and I got Methotrexate. Today, my beta was 271, which is good. So far I'm just more tired, but I'm not totally sure if that is from the Methotrexate or just from the recent emotional roller coaster. I'm having another beta drawn on Thursday.
