My kids are at school. Their bodies are physically away from mine in a whole other building. Actual footage in my home right now: Aaaaaaand they came home sick. Fuck it all. As per. Both of them? Are they ok?

Both.
Neither of them have a fever. But they both ate a snack and have been lying down for an hour and a half. Quietly. Without fighting.
They also both had red faces when they got home. And P is very irritable and whiny.

My kids’ first week back to in person school completely wiped them out- it had been so long and there was so much stimulation. They’ve been in school for 4 months now and they’re still more exhausted at the end of the day than this time last year.

And we had a massive shitshow of a bedtime last night. So I’m sure they are exhausted. But it’s not common for them to sit still ever. They are usually more the type to get out of control and hyper when they are tired. Fingers crossed that is all it is.

And I think you may be right. They did say the heater was on on their bus. So maybe that’s why they were red-faced and felt hot. And they went to bed early without a fuss. So maybe just tired.

I am currently looking for random days to take off in the next 2 weeks.
I've got odds and ends to catch up on, so I cant take the whole week off. But I have 14 days to use from now until March 1st....
I've reached the point in life where taking time off means I need to work longer hours to still keep on top of things. And that just sucks.

tj how are the girls this morning?? Totally fine. I guess it was just exhaustion. I will probably feel the same way when I get home today. I haven’t been to the office in almost a month. So weird.

I keep remembering the first week both kids went to school. Despite going to preschool. Kindergarten kicked both their butts the first 2 weeks. They would come home and just lay down on the couch and not move. Glad they are better today.

I just had a zoom call with teammates from college and it was so good for my soul. I haven’t even realized how much something so simple could give.

I'm stuck in A's bed. It's 8 freaking 30. She had a meltdown over a simple consequence at bedtime over an hour ago and is just now settled enough to go to sleep. I'm ready for a snack and some wine.

I have a friend who has her oldest kid in K and she is just... always so so so concerned with what "should" be happening. Current crisis is that the gift card amount the other cohort is giving their virtual teacher is more than what her daughter's class collected.
Like. THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM. No teacher is comparing gift cards and thinking less of any certain class. Geez.
This woman should have moved to a less fancy school district where she wouldn't be concerned about this, maybe.

It's not stringy, guys. Strings, it isn't you. Ha! I know that - but I made the assumption that this is something that would happen in my town.
Except, per our group text with M's friends moms, where they are all in two different 2nd grade classrooms across both cohorts...neither has put together a class gift this year. So...whoops.
We have something for M to give her teacher, but last year she hid it in her bag and never actually gave it so...

We’re doing brunch in Christmas Day because I’ll be working nights and then will do a big dinner on Sunday.
Cinnamon buns, quiche, bacon, we have cheeses and crackers and salami for a little charcuterie. Bailey’s for our coffee. I’m excited.

We closed on our house last week! And stayed the night there, camped out on air mattresses with the dog. Walked around the new neighborhood, met some kids and dads and dogs at the playground, checked out the woods/dock/kayak launch (which is AMAZING omg). However, the house was filthy. Like absolutely disgusting, so I spent most of the time there making it acceptable for my kids to run around and use the toilet. The bathrooms were... ugh. It didn't seem dirty when we toured it and during the inspection but my goodness. I feel like it should be standard to have your house cleaned by either you or a professional once you sell it. For the money you spend on a house, I feel like expecting it to be clean is not unreasonable? I am having ours cleaned after we move out because I feel like it is a courteous thing to do. We are going to go back for New Year's weekend and take a load of stuff and check out the painting progress, I think they are going to start painting next week and I am level 11 excited about the transformation that is about to occcur there. I can creep on the painters and watch the progress through my wifi cameras that I installed

She said it’s expected that the buyers will have cleaners come through or clean it well themselves before moving in.
