None of the pediatricians here are seeing kids in person unless an immunization is needed, so Colin has an April appointment on the books. Chase's 4 month appointment was in person over the summer (3 months late) when they were temporarily seeing patients, so his stats were all messed up. Ours weren't doing in-person until just right before November. I think they've gone back to not seeing anyone over 2 again now that we're in purple. Thankfully we have a pretty rad telehealth available through my insurance and have used the same Peds out of a nearby town (who is actually a close friend of mine's Ped) for the past year. She is a great resource of when to go to urgent care or ER...which thankfully we haven't needed to do. We actually just changed offices because their doctor is in semi-retirement and may not return. Over the summer, Chase saw another doctor from the practice but honestly we don't really like any of them. So we are looking to actually MEET this new guy, otherwise I would be happy to go virtual. It's such a mess!

We were in size 8 for literally the blink of an eye. She has some size 8 pants that were never even touched. Some size 8/10 dresses are ok, but we've moved into 10 for leggings, some being 10/12, and 10s for shirts. Size 2/3 for shoes depending on the shoe.
Meanwhile I'm pretty sure I was in Size 12 through middle school.
I haven’t seen my nieces in a while. One is 5 months older than M. The other week I bought her a size 8 shirt that was on sale. I gave it to my mom to give to them when she sees them. She was like- I don’t know if it will fit her. I was like, but she is just 7, an 8 should do. My mom told me last night she asked her and she is in a 10. I was like what?? Lol at me just assuming because she is 7, she would fit or soon grow into an 8.

Mh was concerned about Cadence's size. Her pedi says so long as there aren't any jumps or large drops from her curve, it's fine. I have heard the speech every year since he was 2. We go over what he eats/drinks and they say “well your doing everything right. Just be careful...”. I should be use to it but I always walk away feeling defeated. I’m sorry. They shouldn’t make you feel that way. Some kids are just built that way. I know M2 is just going to be a sturdy kid. M is a beanpole. They are just built different and I’m not worried for either of them.

I had Ns schedule for Friday but they called to reschedule until at least January due to our Covid surge. But I know she’s just above 60lbs and tall compared to her friends. She’s going to be the tall one and h is going to be our little shorty.

That's annoying. He looks and seems like a perfectly healthy little boy! I know he his but the chart says otherwise. He’s short and heavy and super active. So it is what it is. I have a feeling I might hear it for E’s soon too. I have the opposite. My DS (5) has never made it past 5%. He can ski backwards down a mountain, can read at way past a K level and all of his endocrinologist tests have come back perfect. But he still wears 2t clothes. My saving mantra is that it takes one at every point to make a curve.

I have a feeling I might hear it for E’s soon too. Does the doc look at his BMI or something? Because I’m pretty sure that is not even close to accurate for kids. If you leave every appt feeling like you’re failing I think you need a new, better doctor for your kids. I’m sorry your current one makes you feel that way.

He shows me a chart and L’s height is at the bottom and his weight is at the top. I know I’m not a failure but I feel like a broken record. L is really strong and is built sturdy. So I know it’s genetics. I know it’s just something that triggers the speech and our current doctor looks sad when he’s talking to us about it because he knows but because it triggered something in the system he has to talk to us about it. So unless we step away from Kaiser switching doctors won’t do it.

Do they get shots this year? I just need to be prepared for my kid who gets enough shots and blood draws...
Evie is definitely on the heavier side, H and I are as well, so she's kind of doomed. Her pedi told me not to worry much about it last year, so it will be interesting this year. She drops weight when she goes back to school since she doesn't have open access to snack all day. And with the meds she's on, I encourage her to eat more carbs on the weekends so her stomach won't bother her...which is the opposite of what I try to do to watch my weight.

I’m sorry, chrisy01. That’s really frustrating. @kidseatincolor on Instagram had a reel about stopping your pediatrician from talking about weight, especially in front of your child. I find her a good resource.

I didn’t (still don’t) want to post pictures of our kids, but it felt weird to continue posting & not include the kids, so I stopped posting. So basically it a dead account 🤷🏼♀️.

C had his annual today. He is 64lbs (91%) and 48.75in (57%). At first I was very concerned that he gained 10lbs since last year but I guess he grew almost 3 inches so he’s even a little lower on the weight percentile.
Everything else was good. He passed the eye exam. We got a standing order for an inhaler to keep at school just in case but it’s been over a year since he has needed one when he had that weird cough last year. I figured it is good to have on hand even if he’s never had a real attack. I wouldn’t have even thought of it but the school nurse thought it would be a good idea. 🤷♀️
ETA: no shots until the 7th grade aside from flu and maybe COVID. I forgot to ask her thoughts on that but will when the time comes.

It’s so ridiculous. He told me the other day he was walking along the grade 4’s and was worried he’d be rushed into class with them cause he matches their height. Ha!

J is 77% for weight and 90% for height. I think it was 57lb and I didn't catch his tall🤦. She joked that he was growing into himself like a puppy, which is accurate given his puppy alter ego. She expects he will jump off his curve for height and likely be 6'3 or so.
Solidly in size 8 Carter's sweats, since that's all I have purchased for him lately and size 3 for sneakers.
Our doc does well visits in the morning but still a bit uncomfortable going. I was considering skipped k's 15m, but forgot she gets some shots, so we are delaying a few weeks and going after the holidays so we can quarantine prior to my mom coming.

We had physicals done for both kids over the summer for school-entry forms so I'm not really in a hurry to do them now but I probably need to get something on the books so we don't get too far off-schedule.
Meanwhile, I just measured B this week, and he's a smidge under 57". Weight's in the mid-60s, he's in a size 4 shoe and mostly 10's in clothing.

We just had B’s appt on Monday, I forget what her height was but I seem to remember 46 percentile. She was 50lb even. No shots, just a hearing test which she said was “fun.”
B had always been right in the middle percentiles. She is also predictably wearing size 7s in clothes. Altho this is the weird moment, I believe where maybe you can get a 6/7 or 7/8 and then it just jumps from 8 to 10 right?
Also not related, but my other Nov kid is colorblind. I don’t think I’ve shared that.
