I love hearing about the weight gaining chunky babies! We have an appt on Friday and I’m hoping we’re back up to birth weight by then.

She was 12lbs at her 4 month visit and he will probably be heavier than that at his 2 month check 😂 Even now she is almost 5 and weighed 32 pounds the other day.

I’m going to have to go back and look at how big my first two were in comparison.

Fearsy hugs! it’s so hard not to feel that way, give yourself grace. i am constantly worrying about how i am going to make sure i give my kids the attention they need - and the baby isn’t even demanding a whole lot right now. we will eventually figure this out. katespade this is also my first chunky baby! i could eat him right up. my girls are also peanuts.

it was our anniversary yesterday and the girls helped me make brownies for dessert - i just had 2 for breakfast. this is probably why the last 5 lbs aren’t going away right? i crave so much sugar when i’m sleep deprived.

Congrats, piratecat! polson, I'd love brownies for breakfast right now! How is everyone doing? Ready for Christmas? I think I've gotten a better handle on breast feeding/pumping. DD was over her birth weight at our first pedi appt last week, which is reassuring. She only wants to sleep in my arms, so my days are not nearly as productive as I'd like. I have so many presents to wrap and laundry to fold, but I'm loving this newborn time. DS and I are going to attempt to bake Christmas cookies today, if I can free my arms up long enough.

marigold, how many days old when she was over birth weight? We had a lactation appt at 9 days old where W was still 6.5oz under his birthweight. She wasn’t overly concerned but asked us to come back in this week to check his weight again. I’ve always done that at one week old with my other kids but this is annoying (we’ve been seen 3 times by doctor or lactation at his pedi in the first 9 days). I’m really hoping he’s hit birthweight again so we don’t have to keep going back.

I’m done wrapping all of our Christmas gifts. I did most of it while still pregnant and finished the last few up yesterday. I only need to tie bows and ribbons which I’ll just do on Christmas Eve. We aren’t having anyone over and not planning on doing a big meal so it’ll be pretty low stress. I cannot get over how much it just does not feel like Christmas this year! I guess it’s because we’re really preoccupied with finding our new normal and general newborn care. The girls are super excited so we’re trying to keep up with their emotions on it.

I think it's because we had to supplement with formula for 2 days while waiting for my milk to come in. The pedi said they like to see newborns over birth weight at 2 weeks; I could have sworn it was 1 week with DS. 3 visits in 9 days is a lot! Hopefully he's at birth weight at your next visit!

Wrapping presents while pregnant was very smart; I wish I had done that! I like to keep a visual on the Santa gifts and leave those unwrapped until a few days before Christmas...big mistake this year. Between DS being bored and hovering over me plus DD nursing/sleeping on me the majority of the days, I'm not sure how I'll accomplish wrapping.

The pedi said they like to see newborns over birth weight at 2 weeks; I could have sworn it was 1 week with DS. 3 visits in 9 days is a lot! Hopefully he's at birth weight at your next visit! Oh wow! A week old seems early? The pedi saw him the day after he was born and he had only lost 5% of his birthweight. He wanted us to go back in two days for a weight check just because we birthed out of the hospital and he wanted to stay on top of any changes. I was fine with it because we needed lactation so did that in conjunction. So at 3 days old he still had only lost a total of 7.5% (they told me 10% is expected). We went back when he was 9 days old and his weight was unchanged. She told me it was because he probably continued to lose a little weight after they saw us at 3 days and also probably was affected when he had his tongue and lip ties clipped. But they asked us to come back again just to make sure. Ugh. So we go back tomorrow just for a weight check. I’m really hoping he’s back up to birth weight. Because if he’s not, they’re probably going to try to push formula on me. I’ve successfully breastfed two other children and never had issues so this feels new.

this is my first kid not back at birthweight at the one week appointment and i was a little surprised that they didn’t have me follow up with a weight check but the dr we saw was satisfied with him not being below discharge weight (he had plenty of wet/dirty diapers though). he has more than made up for it though. i finally attempted a bottle with him and he took it (reluctantly). this is huge though as dd2 never took one and it was so incredibly stressful. i’m not planning on being away from him for any extended period of time, but it would be nice to be able to go to the dentist or get my hair cut without having to worry about timing. eta Fearsy i hope he’s back up to weight - i forgot how stressful that part was!

Mine was down 12% on day 3 so we are supplementing and getting a weight check tomorrow. He was doing pretty well with breastfeeding at the hospital but then my ilk came in as he’s been fussing a lot. I’ve started pumping but am having trouble letting down so that doesn’t help. He loves the bottles though.
