Things are ok here. G is cutting teeth like crazy. None are fully up yet but I can feel the sharpness poking through. I have some family drama happening right now so I'm on a crappy mood. Plus G vomited (and I do mean vomit, not spit up) all over me this evening, so that's icing on the cake. Trying to just breathe through it and get back to thee Christmas spirit (yes Christmas, I've been playing "Christmas Hits" on Spotify all week). DH is offshore so it's just me until Dec 17 (I may have already shared that, my brain is a blur), but I managed to get all the Christmas shopping and wrapping done before he left, so all I have to do is keep everyone alive and keep up on regular household stuff. Shouldn't be too hard lol.

I’m sorry about the family drama and sick baby danib! He’s super cute! And I’m very impressed that you’re finishing not only shopping but also wrapping. This evening when my 3 older kids were having dinner with my parents, DH and I got out all the gifts we have so far and made lists of what else we need to order/send to family. My parents fly home Saturday and don’t come back here till April Baby has been sleeping well in his crib but has tried to get up at 5:30 the last two mornings - maybe the full moon, maybe because he has a minor runny nose. Yesterday I got up and took him for a run and he fell back asleep, and today I waited him out for awhile and he went back to sleep. No teeth yet, but he’s always chewing on something. DH predicts he’ll be crawling by Christmas - we’ll see. Here he is trying to stand up in his bathtub 😆

Sorry for the drama and vomit danib. I can’t believe he’s trying to stand already sdlaura . Sleep is still terrible here but the spit up has decreased significantly and she is finally gaining weight. She’s up to the 9th percentile. She’s still up to eat every 2-3 hours at night. Any tips for night weaning? If I could just get one good stretch of sleep I think I would feel so much better. We trialed solids a few weeks ago and it did not go well so I’m hoping to try that again in a week or two. Here she is in her Thanksgiving outfit!!

We’re still working on sleep here. On the good nights he’s up around 11-12 and then around 4 and wakes for the day around 630-7. Bad nights he’s up a few more times just maybe for his pacifier? I’m thinking about putting him to sleep without the zipadee suit so maybe he can just get his own damn pacifier lol. Good sleep news is that I’ve stopped rocking him. I just lay him in his crib and sit with him a minute. Sometimes he goes to sleep easily, sometimes he fusses for a bit. But I’m just glad not to be doing the rocking thing anymore. He’s also looking like he’s trying to crawl. He’s definitely scooting around pretty good. Pic of the chunk

magaroni I’ll give a long drawn out, but non-traumatic method for weaning that I learned from Sleep Sense. It works without really any crying, but takes a while and takes energy to complete. So you may or may not want to do this. Anyway, first you track when night time wake ups occur and how long you feed them for. I use my phone and timer. Do this for a few nights to see what is consistent. Then you can decide which feed to wean. If there are any feeds less than 5 minutes, cut those out by sleep training/check ins/CIO. That short a feed is only being used for soothing and help falling back asleep. If all the feeds are over 10 minutes, you can goose which one you want to eliminate. You can just start the first night at cutting it off at 10 minutes. Every 2 nights, you cut down 30 seconds. You should be able to just stop the feeding all together by the time you get to 2 minutes. I have done it cutting by a whole minute, though sometimes need to stay at a certain minute for 3 nights if they’re extra fussy when I take them off. The idea is that they are used to waking up at that time and have learned to be hungry. Like, if you woke up at 1 am and had a sandwich 3 days in a row, you would likely wake up the third night wanting a sandwich. So by gradually weaning, they physiologically train their body to not be hungry at that time. I actually need to do this for one of my nighttime feeds. My hefty 7 month old does not need 2 feeds over night. I just need to work up the energy to undertake it.

December is going ok for us. I’m probably ahead of the present game than I usually am at this time of year, but I still have a lot to do. Completed and wrapped is just wow danib! But solo parenting as much as you do is also a big wow, so I shouldn’t be surprised😊. T is fully army crawling all over. He explores every single corner or new thing he can find. It’s adorable. He occasionally gets fully up on all fours, but mostly drags on his belly. He has 2 teeth and it seems like another on the way. I need to wean a night feeding and figure out how to get longer than an hour at nap time. I can’t get an evening nap bc the big kids are home but he is so tired at nighttime.

I work a couple evenings a week, my husband is a delivery driver so as you can imagine he’s very busy right now and doesn’t make it home in time for me to leave. This week was the start of his late nights and tonight was the 2nd night my in laws have watched the kids when I leave until DH gets home. V cried for an hour as soon as I left both nights. Now, she’s hardly seen my in laws so I’m sure some of it is stranger danger, but also she has become a lot more needy this week. Like wants me to hold her or play with her when she’s on the floor. She gets upset if I leave the room type of thing. Very poor timing for this. So of course I look and she’s just starting a leap. I feel very bad for her and for them. If you guys have an ideas I’m all ears. Sleep training has been a disaster too probably for the same reasons. So I am putting that on hold for a bit. Other than that things are going well. She is so excited to see me in the morning, it’s my favorite. I’ve started on my Christmas shopping but still have a ways to go. I got my tree up over the weekend and the big kids helped me decorate it. I didn’t put the ribbon on because I was feeling lazy but I think I need to add it. Oh, I don’t think I mentioned here but we took baby’s first trip to the ER Sunday morning. We were laying in bed, I moved V up to nurse her and her arm must have been under her funny because she instantly started screaming. I tried calming her down, gave her Tylenol, but she was still upset and had broken out into a cold sweat. Of course by the time we got to the ER the Tylenol kicked in and she calmed down on the car ride. I got asked more than once if this is my first kid. After a quick physical exam she was declared fine and we went home. Better safe than sorry I guess.

I follow basically the same concept as hangry when I night wean. I never used a timer, just estimated, but basically the same concept.

What a fright trtlcrzy. Also, I hate that "is this your first" question from doctors. It's so condescending.

I actually do a pretty good job of keeping calm in these situations, both of my older kids rolled off the bed and fell down the stair and neither time did I rush to the ER. It was something about that cold sweat that got me. I was afraid I pulled her arm out of the socket or something. The regular ER doc was great, a resident (who saw us first) and one of the nurses are the ones that asked if it was my first.

Things are going ok over here. We’ve decided to keep N home from daycare for a little bit because we don’t trust the people of Texas to have done the right thing over Thanksgiving. It’s been stressful balancing work, baby, and two virtual elementary schoolers, but we made it to Friday so that’s a plus! He refuses to nap unless he’s super exhausted and DH is the only one who can get him to sleep at night or for naps. It’s frustrating because this just started a week ago and we can’t figure out why. He’s already got two bottom teeth, so I don’t think that’s it. I’m assuming it’s because he’s trying to figure out sitting or crawling, but that’s just wild speculation at this point.

txaggie08 T just went through a bit of a sleep regression as he was on the edge of crawling. It’s been a bit better the last few days. Fingers crossed you pass through this quickly too.

I need to remember to check in here more! Everyone’s little babies are so grown and adorable!!
E is doing well and is 5 1/2 months. She sat unassisted for the first time today but she really won’t roll over. I’ve seen her do it maybe four times and she has gotten upset every time. She is going through some sort of sleep regression so I’m exhausted but she is a content, smiley baby and I love it so much. I’m enjoying my time with our last baby! **poof**

So beautiful Radley! Miles isn’t into rolling either. I’ve actually never seen him go belly to back, and he rarely does back to belly. I feel like my first wasn’t a roller either before she started crawling around.

So G isn't near crawling yet, but he does this squirmy thing that usually results in him spinning around in circles (not rolling, staying on his belly) and can get quite a distance that way 🤣

She also rolls a lot. I can be sitting on the floor next to her, look at my phone for a minute and by the time I look up she’s almost turned completely around.

I forgot how quickly they start moving. Like one day they're just a lump in one place, the next day they're across the room in a minute.

My third kid walked at 8 months. That’s not something I want a repeat of Momentarily it felt fun to have an ‘advanced’ kid, but it made my life way more difficult. The same kid is not yet 3.5 and learned to ride a real bicycle yesterday.

But C was talking, like having conversations, at 12 months whereas H only said like 4-5 words total at that point

I DO NOT want an early walker. I want them immobile as long as possible, lol. I have a feeling V will be crawling early.
